Summary from "Salary Loan For Approval" Marcelito's life story--with all its loneliness, deprivations, and hardships is one for the movies. His eventual success via Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 in 2011 where he emerged as champion will surely inspire anyone who has come to know about the difficult life he has had and clearly see the hands of God lifting him from the sufferings he had gone through. His is not just a Cinderella-like story but a poignant story of longing and love for his own family he never grew up with and one of forgiveness. His story not only gives hope to those who are weighed down but also strengthens their faith in God and renews their belief that God sees all their sufferings and that sooner or later, He will liberate them from their woes. To start with his lonely yet inspiring life story and basing on his TV interviews and information from various Internet sources, Marcelito Pomoy first saw the light of day in Mangagoy, Bislig City in Surigao del Sur. He is third in a brood of four. When he was about two years old, his father, on false accusation, got imprisoned. His mother, together with his eldest sibling who was then about seven years old, left him and his two other siblings, the youngest being just 3 months old, to somebody else's care to look for a job elsewhere. When someone reported to the authorities that nobody was attending to the children, they were brought to his father in prison where they were fed on food shared with them or contributed by other prisoners. When their father got sick, however, and could no longer take care of them, he was forced to have them adopted by a local policeman in the person of Ali Macawili. Marcelito stayed with the Macawilis until he was eight years old. He was not treated very well and experienced maltreatment, which prompted him to ask the Macawilis if he was their real child. After disclosing to him the truth that they were just foster parents and that his real father was jailed that eventually led to his adoption by Macawili, Marcelito left home the following day to look for his father in prison. But he miserably failed to find the latter there. Marcelito, in subsequent turn of events and despite his tender age, found himself engaged in various economic activities in order to survive. He worked as a pin boy in a duckpin bowling alley, sold "balut" (fertilized duck egg, a local delicacy) and ice cream, and performed other odd jobs. Many times, he slept in the streets because he did not have a real home. When he was sixteen years old--eight years after he left his adoptive parents--and while selling balut, a suki (regular customer) recognized him and told him he knew what happened to his family and that he also knew of his father's whereabouts. The man brought the excited Marcelito to his father, who turned out to be another suki of his. His father cried when they met and upon telling him of the story behind his mother's leaving them, Marcelito harbored ill-feelings against his mother. Marcelito stayed with his father who then had a new family, but only briefly as he decided to leave because he could not get along well with his stepmother. Through an illegal recruiter, he later moved to Manila to seek employment. He worked in a furniture shop, washed empty Emperador Brandy bottles, worked in a poultry farm and in a piggery, and also worked in a construction outfit. It was during his employment in a poultry farm where he discovered his talent in singing in both a male tenor voice and a strikingly convincing female soprano voice, owing to his idolizing Regine Velasquez, the diva of the local entertainment scene. He would sing as he sprayed the chicken house. When Marcelito turned 24, he went back to his father in Surigao. His father then informed him that his mother was in Manila. He didn't know that while he was working in Manila, his mother and siblings were also there. Equipped with his eldest sister's cell phone number which his father provided him, Marcelito returned to Manila to look for his mother and siblings and this time successfully found them. When Marcelito first met his mother, he could not describe his feeling. He said he was kind of angry as though asking why she left them. His mother, however, hugged him and asked for his forgiveness. Shortly after finding his mother and siblings, Marcelito got sick. He needed an apendectomy for his chronic condition. It was his second-to-the-eldest sister who spent for his operation and hospitalization. When Marcelito got out of the hospital, he was brought to his eldest sister who later made unsavory comments about his being a parasite, and additional mouth to feed, and that hurt him. He was challenged by that kind of offensive comment so he decided to join a reality TV talent search. He first joined ABC 5 Talentadong Pinoy but didn't make it there. Not giving up, he tried ABS-CBN's Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 where he garnered 19.56% of the total text votes in the finals, making him the grand champion and winning a whopping P2 million. All the members of his family were present showing their support during the grand finals at the Araneta Coliseum where he impressively performed "The Prayer" which was popularized by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. Marcelito was given a standing ovation by the audience and all three judges. When asked what his prayer was during that night, Marcelito said he prayed that his performance be successful so that his family would be proud as that was the very first time in his life that he saw all the members of his long-lost family together and complete. Marcelito got emotional when he answered that question. On September 21, 2014, Marcelito Pomoy married Joan Paraiso of Calauag, Quezon, and they have one daughter, Marcella Janiah Marcelito's lonely and difficult life seems over. With his "beautiful voices" coupled with his unique style of singing and his legions of fans ready to support him, no doubt, this "internet sensation" will be going far very in his career. P.S. Hi Guys, Marcelito was on the street from age 7 to 24. then he entered philippines got talent and won in 2011. and found his family. Marcelito has not had any singing training. When he was on the street he would sing when he was scared. Marcelito does not realize that singers cannot usually switch voices, His voice got him off the street. he is famous in the philippines and I think he did a tour.

He learned this song by listening to a recording by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. His performance, considering that he requires a translator to carry on a conversation in English even though he understands it well but has trouble speaking it, is gorgeous. His native language is Philipino Tagalog, and he has no formal training. The recording engineer was teasing him about his female voice. That's why he spit her out at the end. Notice his big grin after doing that. He is singing now in at least English, Italian, Spanish and Chinese but he does not speak any of those languages. He grew up on the streets from age 7 or 8. On September 21, 2014, Pomoy married Joan Paraiso of Calauag, Quezon, and they have one daughter, Marcella Janiah. He is very humble, helping out his neighbors with odd jobs and repairs, even though his reported net worth is around $5,000,000 USD. His ambition serves him well in whatever he does!

I found a comment from a poster named David Fryer who described Marcelito's history this way. "He (Marcelito Pomoy) has an amazing background. His mother left when he was born and his father went to prison for a long sentence. He grew up in prison with his father for two years and then was adopted by a guard. Quoting a Filipino viewer about his story. I'm Filipino American from San Jose CA migrated from the Philippines in 1980 when I was 13 yrs old. Great reaction and yes he is very talented yet still so humble! "To give you a background on the life of Marcelito Pomoy.... he was born in the Philippines into a broken family, his mother left the family when he was still at a very tender age of about 2 years old and his father ended up in jail. With no relatives wanting to help, Marcelito had no other choice but to join his father and stay inside the jail for a long time. Eventually one of the prison guards took him home and provided his needs while his dad had to continue serving his prison sentence. He studied kindergarten through to his 3rd grade in grade school in a local public school. He was neglected in that family so he left the only home he ever knew and walked the streets of Manila in search of his mother whom he really never knew, often going for days hungry, doing whatever odd jobs he can do to be able to buy a piece of bread or scraps of food he could find on the street dumps. He learned to humm and sing himself to sleep. He did so much variety of odd jobs like being a helper in construction sites, mixing cement manually with gravel and water and carrying it to the guys needing to build hollow blocks with cement, etc., selling boiled duck eggs which is a popular delicacy called "Balot" upto the wee hours of dawn, peddling ice cream to earn a few cents, he did fixing the pinballs up in bowling lanes daily, earning about $1 USD so he has food to eat then sleep on street curbs for several years, any job an under 12 year old kid could do Marcelito had done it. In my opinion God was guiding him all these years because he never thought of committing crimes just to be able to survive but work was plentiful for his tender age and he suffered tremendously to be able to eat daily but with Gods' Guiding Hand he made it in life. He would hang around clubs and restaurants and watch in amazement at the talent of the singers' performing while he watched from outside the door. He started singing himself and follow the way he sees the singers sing and thru the years he kept on imitating any singer he could watch on other people's TV singing. He was a no read no write kid having left his 3rd year public grade school education to fend for himself and survived all those years. He worked cleaning chicken pens in huge chicken farms and sang to the chickens while cleaning their pens and it was while singing to his audience of egg laying chickens that he discovered he could sing both a male and female voice when he was about 18 years old. We will never know if the hens produced more eggs while Marcelito was serenading them !!!"

It's called doble kara (two face) in the Philippines. it's pretty common but difficult to perfect. I say common because I have friends back in the Philippines who can do it BUT mind you it's very difficult to perfect and it can strain your vocal chords without proper care. :) Pinoy fr Texas, USA :)

You are absolutely correct when you say Pomoy is not even to the level of Dinash who some people say can even hit 6 octave, BUT I don't think Dinash can imitate the likeness of Dion and Bocelli. So the real question here is, can Pomoy step up to Dinash caliber? No. Can Dinash sound like Dion/Bocelli or any other famous singers? No. You're comparing apples and oranges here.

First TNT means Tawag Ng Tanghalan, it's a singing contest in the Philippines where this Boys are all contestant and competing with a lot of Kids who joined the contest and this 3 Kids is lucky enough to made it to the grand final and Keifer is the 2nd placer while Mackie is 3rd and Francis is 5th place.This Kids are from different provinces and Francis is the poorest of them 3 who was adopted now by His Aunt. Keifer's Father is a driver and He goes with His Father for a ride and calling for a passenger..Mackie while still young been joining other singing contest where He win most of the time..During the guesting on Vice Ganda Show thus 3 Kids where a guess together with the 1st and 4th place r of the singing contest show..But anyway the Host Vice on the spot asked Mackie, Francis and Keifer to sing the song Listen like they are fighting to each other and Vice will pinpoint who will sing because of that battle song it went viral on KZbin and they got a lot of different reaction all over the world and that's how the TNTBOYS started and they where invited at little big shot UK,then LBS USAx2 and LBS Australia..Their first major concert in the Philippines was a sold out concert at the Areneta COLISEUM and become the youngest performer who had a sold out to ticket on that venue. They have a 3 sold out concert 2 in the US and 1 in Canada...
