As always, the Plumes just has that great character that makes the bass comes alive in the mix.

Agreed, but if you wanted something that sat back a little in the mix while still being super fat, that Black Country Customs Blackheath is badass: 2:14 The glassy mids of the Plumes (1:14) with the fuzzy bottom of the Blackheath (2:24) would be perfect.

Sad to not see the Way Huge Green Rhino in the comparison. It's pretty great on bass

Love this. I've tried a few of those, my favourite is the Origin Halcyon. Nice crunch and plenty of low end.

I was just listening to No Leaf Clover on the subway to college this morning so I didn’t expect to hear it in this video but I’m still happy it was used, such a good song and all the pedals sounded awesome but I’d have to say that my favourites were the Ibanez TS808 and TS9 (both classics), JHS Bonzai, Earthquaker Plumes, Walrus Ages and Voodoo Sparkle Drive

That was amazing! Any plans on other pedal types for comparison in this format? (Octive, Reverb, Flange, Compressor, Envelope Filter, and/or etc.?) Cheers and thanks for the great vid!

Awesome demo! 😎🤘🏻🎸 my personal favorites are the Ibanez tube screamer 808, maestro ranger, earthquaker plumes, voodoo lab sparkle drive mod, and ehx east river drive.

Yeah. I more or less agree with you. Also like the JHS & I think a few others may sound really good in a mix. Nice to see someone else kind of verify my thoughts.

They all sound very good when alone with the drums. It's when the guitar kicks in that the best one pops up. I've tried a good number of them, the one that impressed me more was the Westwood, mainly for the effectivness of the EQ, and in the video was one that impressed me less. The ibanez tube screamer is often accused of too much low end loss, but in this video sounds good. I know it's a Titanic effort, but each overdrive should be used alone and in the band mix, and with different basses.. A 5 hours video should be fine 😂😂😂 Anyway your videos are always spot on. Thank you and keep going!

There’s a reason the Tubescreamer is iconic and has stood the test of time. It cuts through a live mix so well. I also like the JHS which has the actual original TS circuit as an option and the Earthquaker as well. But TS sound still number one for me.

If you had any of them in your signal chain, then you'd be good. The Earthquaker Plumes was my favorite though, simply because of the "chaos" in the sound. To be fair though, some of these seemed to have additional tones and variants that were not explored in this video.

really wish they had done the old nu-tube screamer, i love the clipping sound, and there is a rare wet/dry mix knob.. hard to find samples of it used on bass.

SD805 souds great with this kind of coloring, surely it would go crazy with the drive but I see preamp potential with that circuit. Maestro was great as well.

For the next shootout take a look at German manufacturer „Okko“. I think eg the Motörbass-Pedal would have fit perfectly into the row.

I don't blame you for giving the Westwood the least amount of screen time. I had it and was not impressed. Especially not for the price.

Not being a big dirt user, I liked the more subtle sound of the Maestro and the Westwood. I liked the bassier tone of the Green Screamer though the tone knob was at about 2 o'clock on the treble side. I admit didn't watch the whole video because I felt it wasn't a really fair shootout as most the pedals had different settings. Set all pedals exactly the same way, generally all knobs at 12 o'clock, (acknowledging that some pedals have extra controls beside the standard volume, level, tone), and play the exact same riff through everything for a true fair comparison. I think you guys did the Big Muff shootout better.
