That would be interesting, I would like to see what a superman of a world like this would look like. What I mean by that is if you think about it, the normal people of the DC universe don't know these characters like we do. That why I love Marvels so much, the book tells the story of what these superheroes look like to everyday people. If Peter parker was real and was spider-man, we might find it scary that a guy crawls on walls and acts like a spider. How would we act if a God like alien would pop in and out of places. Or a man who runs around the world in seconds. I would say this stuff could be king of scary.

@julianhermanubis68003 жыл бұрын
Batman is essentially a pulp hero, not a superhero, and the earliest version of the character (circa 1939) was heavily influenced by pulp antiheroes like the Shadow and the Spider. The first Batman story's plot was even ripped off from a Shadow novel. So, moving Batman and his villains back to the 1920s and 1930s and making them fit the pulp mold makes a LOT of sense. I've always preferred these "larger-than-life" but human pulpish characters with minor super powers or none at all to the modern indestructible and godlike superheroes who fly around the universe and smash through planets. They bore the crap out of me.

Loved this episode. The Riddler never gets the parade he deserves and this depicted him at his most ingenious and narcissistic. I like how you made him a kind of Jack Unterweger by way of Brian Blackwell. It's funny, as I was writing my detective novel, I realised there were similarities between the killer the London Met were pursuing and the Riddler. This weirdly enhances the similarities. I also thought it was really interesting to see the Riddler's smug arrogance shift into a sort of folorn loneliness and and vulnerability as he gets older, as though he's becoming increasingly afraid of dying alone and questioning his life choices. That grateful little smile he gives at the end says it all. Could he possibly be feeling traces of remorse? In which case he's not a real psychopath. Either way, it almost makes you pity him, until you remember that while other Gotham villains had absolutely craptacular childhoods, his parents gave him everything and he fucking murdered them, so it's exactly what he deserves, but even then you can't help but feel a stab of compassion for him. I suppose that's what separates us from people like Nygma. Can't wait to see him in The Batman; can you?

I'll admit, I wasn't really looking forward to this one at first because Riddler isn't really one of my favorite villains and I thought that putting him back 100 years ago would just limit his ability to commit evil to the point that he wasn't even a villain. The book's approach to Riddler's origins and mindset, however, really made him a captivating character and really made the collaboration between the GCPD and Batman believable. Also goes without saying the inclusion of interviews really brought this video to life and made it feel like a real documentary; no idea if they were taken from the book or wholly original, but they were a great addition!

Batman is my favorite DC character and honestly the only DC hero I care a whole lot about. His villains and his story are amazing. The only other hero who is as cool as he is, with the same amount of cool costumes and villains is Spider-Man (who happens to be my favorite Marvel hero). Nothing rivals those two heroes when it comes to their world and their villains. Just amazing, to say the least. Now to these videos; I just found these. They're magnificent. I'd really like to see even more for Batman and maybe even some for Spider-Man! I think he'd look like a really stand-out hero in the early 1900's just like Batman here. There's just something so interesting about seeing the hero and his rogues gallery in old dated photos here as if they were real and happened 100 years ago or so. Just too cool.

Once you're done with all these creepy 1930s documentaries, you should do some on Batman Beyond! Have it be like a kind of dystopian news feature about this mysterious new Batman, idk I think that would be a cool continuation of this awesome docuseries.

Or maybe set Batman beyond in present times. Since this Batman was in the 1920's it would be perfect. Perhaps use today's politics and incorporate them somehow into the present day Batman Beyond. Maybe Terry could have found the old Batman stuff by accident and with everything going on in society and all the riots they needed a new Batman for hope.

What I like about this version of the Riddler is that he didn't need abusive parents or bullies to become what he is. He had wisdom so the power, it was enough to corrupt him.
