So fantastic I stumbled on your channel.. I’m a regular viewer of UK based guys and a few Canadians such as lost lakes an Xander, but you take the time to explain and educate as well as such excellent vlogs of your adventures. You have another subscriber from across the pond my friend. Good work man 👍🏼

Wow thank you so much!! I think I’ll be doing more education based content nowadays rather than camping vlogs- I feel like they help people out a bit more. But I’m still trying to find what I enjoy doing most for videos. Very nice to meet you, thanks for stopping by!

@@RogueBeats.mp4 Ya man I do! I think that here we see the unfair side of social media suggestion algorithms. Not quality content is valued, but the compatibility of the video with the platform's monetization mechanisms. From KZbin this means: Optimal length 10-18 min., buzzwords in the title, likely related to actually relevant topics and most of the viewers users are watching it to the end without skipping much. Especially the last point is contradictory to the approach of this video, which seems to give a REALISTIC impression of all the things being done and experienced here. I value this approach very much - but it is not 100% compatible to the short-attention-span quick-moving social media world we have today. Many viewers might start watching this video somewhere with limited time and jump out after 5 minutes - maybe with the intention to watch the full video in a quiet hour at home. But for the algorithm, jumping out after 5 minutes is marking the video as "less relevant content" - which will be suggested less. I really like the video as it is - and I'm a bit sad to see such formats completely disappearing over the time since effort and outcome for the creators isn't matching anymore. But there is a possibility to link the desired audience to videos like this as well: Once a channel ist established, links to the long video could be added to potentially more successful shorter videos when the topic fits. In addition, some promotion in the description below the short ones might help. And if necessary, creating these portrait-mode shorts matching to the most relevant chapters might bring some traffic - with a link in a pinned comment and mentioning the long one in the short. Last thing: A survey (with link to video): "Have you ever considered staying in Nature overnight with just a sleeping bag?" with answers "done already", "nothing for me", "sounds appealing" & "is on my bucket-list" could create some visibility. By the way, comments & discussions below a video will help it as well :-)

I'm sending the little cards to my 25 year old daughter who camps a lot in Oregon. I just got waxed sail cloth from Sailrite: it's going to be very useful. Thank you so much!
