There's a brand sold in Germany that produces in Korea called Yepoda. They recently came out with cushion foundation in a wide shade range, including even African skin tone. They said that it was a long process to produce those shades because nobody does that in Korea and they had to insist.

I really like the transparent, even color of both the blushes and the lip products. However, I think the old school brands are still under-appreciated. The ‘nude’ lip colors of Peripera Ink Velvet Lip Tint are gorgeous. They have very natural looking shades, and they are the most comfortable mattes, providing improvement of lip texture and a blotted effect. Also, romZ&nd Glasting Melting Balm nailed the tinted jelly balm trend, and gives that transparent, wearable color. As for foundations and skin tints, I am fair and finding that some of the traditional brands are trying to hard to be accessible to western markets that now I cannot find colors that work for me in some of these favorite lines’ products. Jung Saem Mool is a good example, since their 21 is too dark for me.

Try the cushion foundation of Jung Saem Mool. I’m medium toned and the medium deep fits me perfectly ❤ Plus, is excellent quality.

I have the opposite problem with Korean foundation 😂 Even the lightest shade is too dark for me, some I can make work, but I dread trying new foundations~ 😅 💕

same. when they do like 13 it is good but usually they are 21 -> and those are barely usable for me.

I gave a pass to Korean brands re complexion products a decade ago feeling they were making them for the Korean market. But at this point they're a market leader internationally, and there's no more excuse at this point. Lots of western brands go to Korea to get their own products formulated.

I have similar feelings! Like they want everyone to use their skincare products but not their makeup? Make it make sense! Especially with these bigger brands!

I was willing to give them a pass, too, for the same reason. But honestly, they aren’t even making shades dark enough to accommodate all Koreans anymore. Not all Koreans are as fair as Kpop idols. Hell, even most idols aren’t that fair without lighting and filters. I don’t expect them to make a dozen deep shades. But their shades are unrealistically pale.

I think the problem with Korean foundations is they are not supposed to "match" your skin tone . Instead it's more about "What shade of white do you want to be?"
