Best description I've ever heard of Dave is, "dude's dodging lasers on stage." He knows exactly how to navigate this kinda humor, taking the piss outta everyone, while being almost universally loved for it.

You might already know, but Chappell is a habitual line stepper, along with being a comic genius. He sets up a situation that is uncomfortable... I find myself saying, "no Dave, don't do it! Don't step over that line! And he blasts past the line, and does so with brilliant comedy. Some people don't get him - that he is, indeed, a comedian. After some of his bits, people will sometimes write commentary opinion pieces over here in the US how Chappell is doing some kind of social disservice. Well 1) we have free speech, and 2) his entire job is to make people laugh, and he does that as a genius of comedy.
