I was a single mom, there were some years I would be up all night wrapping and trying to make it all perfect. My advice, the more stuff is not the thing to achieve, the fun times and special memories are the most important. Sarah seemed to have that figured out when she said she started to realize that perfection isn’t what they remember, it is the time spent with family. You guys are so awesome💕

I agree. I am a perfectionist so I understand wanting everything to be perfect but then you can lose sight of what's important. We didn't really do presents just stockings but it was actually good to take the focus off material things.

I am a grandmother of children Jack and Sunny's age. My daughter puts so much pressure on herself to have everything perfect. She compares it to Christmas' of her childhood. She thinks it was perfect...it was far from it. I was a wreck. What she remembers is the feeling of everyone being together and happy. Relax and enjoy the chaos.

You should build things when you're kids are napping or at your parents or a friend's house and store them in a friends garage until Christmas Eve. Or store them under a blanket in your own garage. It would take the last minute stress out.

My in-laws always spent the night Christmas Eve. Hubby and mom in law laid down with kids, girls with granny, son with dad. My father in law and I would start working about 9p.m. and if we were lucky we finished up just as kids woke up around 6 a.m. Great memories. Best in laws ever!!

Looks like a great Christmas! Your first year you always learn to put the toys together a week or 2 before Christmas next time. Those toys always takes way longer than you think it will! Then you buy those huge bags to put that big stuff in and a big bow! Jack seemed to be camera shy. And Sarah, It is great when you learn, as a mommy, not try to be perfect. It is more fun and less stressful, but planning ahead really helps. I loved watching my little ones go crazy in all the Christmas paper....wish you had filmed the kids doing that. I saw sunny trying to play under the paper and smiling. Even my little dog has fun tunneling through all the paper in the floor on Christmas. It is so fun to watch the kids and dog do that and get all crazy with it....maybe next year. Your kids will love that playroom when you get it all done! Hoping to see it soon! ❤

Oh boy do we know and do last minute guys, ye defo not alone there!! It couldn’t be helped last couple of years owing to pre Christmas hospital visits etc with kids’ illness. I was so on your page this year Sara, we just about managed to get turkey on table, Christmas tree was last minute, cards being sent this week (aarrgghh) and there were none of the trimmings but we were happy cause kids loved their toys, we had all the magic of Christmas Eve, the joy of Christmas Day’s meaning and we were all there for one another, that’s what counts. I’ve really learned this year that I can redefine expectations around Christmas and most importantly take ownership of the expectations - figure are they worth having or not - they definitely aren’t if they’re someone else’s! You guys go define what’s important to ye and your new family household, maybe that means partially embracing traditions, forming new ones - whatever it takes so ye have a truly Happy Christmas! Watching this made me soooo happy with the way my parents did Christmas with us and the tradition continues… we opened up 1 present on Christmas eve, then 2 on Christmas day (Santa in the morning and 1 from parents in the afternoon)… then 1 present per day until they were all done. That way the kids could play with the toys and enjoy them in the moment and not just go directly onto the next.

Oh heck yeah. Christmas Eve the children usually be out about 9:00 p.m..... but somehow on Christmas Eve they were up late until 11:00 p.m.. that's when we started wrapping Christmas gifts... Gary and Tina woke up early Christmas morning I'm saying like 6:30 a.m. and we will still wrapping Christmas gifts. Turn around and gave him a hug. Gave them both a hug and a back upstairs thinking they would take a little nap but no they did not work either. But they managed to stay upstairs my husband was watching them while my mother and I continued wrapping up the gifts we did not finish until 10:00 a.m. in the morning. There was a lot of coffee drinking that day but the most important thing was the expression on the children's face. The glow in the eyes the smile on their face the excitement and joy oh yes those memories will last a lifetime. Love you beautiful family may God continue to bless you and always looking for it to seeing you next video. 🙏❤️😊.

WELL DONE!!!! What a brilliant Christmas you two have mana ged. You both worked so hard. Try to remember to spread the presents out a bit. It is obviously so overwhelming to a small child to take everything in. I remember with fondness the excitement and happiness I felt in finding a doll in my Christmas pillowcase at the bottom of my bed along with a few sweet treats and a piece of fruit! I know Tim’s have changed but your kiddies will remember Christmas with fondness for always, not every single toy. It is impossible over the years. The overall image of excitement and happiness and finding gifts etc will remain with them always no matter the amount. You have both worked so hard to put this magical Christmas together. Now Relax and enjoy it!! Happy Christmas ❤️❤️❤️😄😄

I remember the days of being up late Christmas Eve putting together stuff 😅. Now, all gifts are wrapped ahead of time and put into their own boxes (separating our 3 kids stuff) and their stocking stuffers are all in 3 labeled bags so that way my husband, on Christmas Eve night (since he’s the night owl and I am definitely not 😂) can just grab everything once the kids are asleep and put it downstairs by the tree and it’s done. Thankfully, we are pretty much past the need to build anything anymore (thank you, Jesus 🙏🏻) but we always tried to do stuff ahead of time. Our huge kids kitchen had to be built Christmas Eve night back in 2017 (I think) and it took us hours 🥵! We couldn’t build that ahead of time because it’s so big, there would have been no where to hide it 😅. Love seeing Jack and Sunny experience Christmas 🎄❤! My youngest is 5 so the baby/toddler years are over for me.

I always tried to wrap the gifts and put together the toys before Christmas Eve. I didn’t want Christmas Eve to be stressful every year trying to put together stuff and wrap gifts. I just wanted us to have a relaxed Christmas Eve together. Get the kids to bed. Then we’d put the gifts out and have a snack.Tidy up a bit and relax together ourselves before heading to bed.We still never got much sleep that night when they were little because we used to be so excited to see them open their gifts in the morning but it wasn’t because we had to be up all night trying to assemble stuff. Christmas morning we’d open our gifts and we just had cinnamon rolls & as they got older it became banana cream, coconut cream or lemon pie for breakfast….that I made a couple of days before. Then we cleaned up the garbage and worked at dinner or if we were going out to dinner we’d get ready for that. Christmas is a tremendous amount of work…so doing as much as you can prior to Christmas night and Christmas Day the more relaxing and enjoyable your Christmases will be.I would suggest always doing assembly stuff beforehand because it takes the longest. You can always throw gifts in gift bags if you have to Christmas Eve.As they get older there won’t be as much to assemble or you’ll be waiting til after they open the gift to do it. You’re just newly doing Christmas yourselves but you’ll continue to find what works and what doesn’t for your family and you’ll get better at doing it year after year.Glade you had a Merry Christmas. You can tell Jack was excited opening his gifts and he’ll love Disney once he realizes where he’s going. He doesn’t quite understand yet.I hope the year to come will be happy, healthy, filled with adventure & opportunities & very very blessed,Happy New Year🥂 🎉

Sarah - you are absolutely right about things not having to be perfect. My mom would make a few different coffee cakes a few weeks before Christmas and freeze them. She would buy bagels and croissants and then thaw out the coffee cakes and slice them up. Everything went on a big platter on the coffee table along with coffee for the adults and juice for kids and that was what we ate while we opened our presents. She would occasionally forget to thaw the coffee cakes or buy the bagels but it was ok! We only remember eating and laughing as we opened our gifts from Santa! As long as you are feeding your kids they are fine!

@marheritacardela yes it’s all about Jack, but anything for the kids is so last minute. I have a feeling Jack doesn’t like to be filmed the way he reacts 😢

You are a wonderful, warm family and full of so much love!!! Having raised four kids, I wish you could understand that less is more, when it comes to children. They only need a few toys to be happy and we always did a Nov. Donation Drop of older toys that they no longer played with, to make room for new toys. Kids get overwhelmed with excess just like we do. Definitely we put together anything that needed put together, ahead of Christmas Eve, in case we needed to run and get some missing part. If you could reduce the Inventory in your home by half, it would let you relax more and have more energy as you raise these sweet babies. You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work! Merry Christmas!

Sunny's hair has gone from Auburn to Strawberry Blonde. It's so unusual for it to go from dark to light like that. Merry Belated Christmas Beeston Family & a Very Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year to ALL as well. 💞💖💝

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! I love the baby bed heads and how you both showed a normal house, christmas trash and all. I, too, am guilty of doing everything the night before. Its all good tho! Glad the family had a great day.

Don't kill yourself with items that take longer than an hour to assemble. Give the kit to the kids and spend time with them building it together during Christmas break. At their ages, they are never going to remember whether or not the toy was completely put together on Christmas morning ~ they will only remember the joy of time with you and enjoying the toy for many months to come. Consider letting the kids open and play with their toys as they go. All presents don't have to be opened within a specific time period...let the Christmas presents last as long as it takes to open them. Once the kids get a little older, it will literally take 10 minutes for them to destroy everything under the tree. Consider the gifts of enjoyment and appreciation and foster that from a young age. Opening gifts can be a genuine reflection of the true meaning of Christmas...go ahead and allow time for them to enjoy the process. You all are great, young parents and will learn much of this on your own...just sharing my reflections as a Mom who raised five kids who are now successful, healthy, caring adults.
