Word to the wise my child was born 2 weeks before Christmas!! She just turned 45! When she was a kid I wrapped her presents in Christmas paper. She told me when she became an adult that she wanted birthday wrapping paper not Christmas paper!! She’s the best mom I know !!!

My Mother was born on Dec 26. She insisted that her gifts were wrapped in birthday paper. She insisted that there were no "Christmas/Birthday combo" gifts. She had to have a separate gift for Christmas and another gift for her birthday! She wanted a BIRTHDAY dinner and a Birthday cake! It could be very challenging, but we did our best!

Pink HELMET! Seriously. As an ex RN I have to speak up. Brain injuries are not to be taken lightly. A fall from a couch onto a hard surface can change your lives. My daughter had a Barbie birthday party for her 2nd birthday last year and her first birthday was held at a Skating rink (owned by a family friend). People thought it was a strange idea for a baby party until they saw how well it worked out. Might have to do it again for her 4th birthday next year because now she can skate pretty well by herself.

Parenting tip: How to get your child not to scream when leaving somewhere! Give them a 15 minute warning that you will be leaving.. then 5 minutes later give them a 10 minute warning, and then 5 minutes later, give them a 5 minute warning! After doing this a few times, it gets them prepared to transition to something new and gives them what to expect! Think about it: If you are with your friends, do you want someone coming up and saying come on lets go NOW! Same with kids! I did this with my son growing up, and not one time did he ever get upset about leaving somewhere!
