Bayonetta 3 Viola Guide (Play Viola like a pro!)

Good tips for sure. Its easy to see that Viola has a high ceiling in terms of capability, but after years of playing as Bayonetta and relying on dodge to get into witch time, its been a struggle to do well with Viola. I do feel like this game gives the worst visual and audio cues for enemy attacks. Some enemies deliver the visual cue for an attack, but then pause momentarily before doing a fast attack. Bayo 1&2 typically didnt deliver the cue until just before an attack would hit.

I noticed this as well. I don't struggle with the angels and demons from Bayonetta 1 and 2 when they appear in 3, but the Homonculi are just so different.

oh my god the number of times i've lost a PP verse to those stupid leg blade homunculi because they'd glint, then pause for a long charge up attack :(

yeah the Homunculi have very "busy" animations that disrupts their attacks, even the first humanoid looking ones do this weird slither motion before they swing their swords which is annoying, plus they now attack you off-screen, something I didnt encounter in my run of the original Bayonetta game!

Another setup that I’ve seen success with as someone who isn’t good at her (can’t block offset etc) is to combine the Infernal Communications and Pulleys butterfly’s. The butterfly give her the extra one hit she sometimes needs to do things, and the devils buff up her damage. Also fun fact about the communicators, when they hit an enemy in this game, there is a minor bit of slowing, allowing you to see certain attacks coming more easily. One thing I would like to add though is that Viola’s biggest strength is her damage. She has several ways to hit very, very hard, to the point where Cheshire is almost kinda pointless. Her charged heavy inputs are strong, her spin heavy combined with the infernal communicators wreck enemy health, and her lock on backwards heavy input is also strong. She is fun to play with, just feels like a prototype in some ways, something which I feel was kinda unavoidable, as she embodies the more experimental nature of this game. Though I do think there are areas they could improve on (better aoe options and a bat within equivalent).

Wow thanks for this! Viola is indeed weak compared to the other witches but I still enjoy her gameplay nonetheless. I will attempt to beat Witch Trials lvl 3 using her with some of this new knowledge. :)

Tbh I wish they built in something similar like the moon of mahaa kalaa into viola's kit to give more then one way to activate witch time and it can only activate regular witch time without the time extension, like how the link costume in the switch edition of bayonetta 1 and 2 had a built in shield that functioned like moon of malaa kalaa. Overall viola is pretty mid to me because there was so much potential in her kit instead of just hevially relying on Cheshire and her Faeire transformation in battle. That being said, I hope I didn't offend anyone who enjoys playing as viola if there is anybody who genuinely wants to play with her. Have a nice day and enjoy the video for tips and tricks.

She plays identical to Bayo. You just gotta remember that: • Her Wicked Weaves do more damage but she takes more damage than Bayo • Her Witch Time is much longer but you can only activate it with Bat/Moth Within • She can dodge forever and ever without eventually leaping into a pose

Hey I almost beat Rodin with her but still working on the Witch Trials thing. Btw at 0:39, how are you getting i-frames with her dodge like that? I tried spamming dodge but Rodin is still able to hit me out of it. Is there a timing thing with this or...?

No but her dodging could be good for offense and give you space and maybe good for positioning and get ready to for oncoming attacks

I don’t really get the Shinobi slash input w/ Moon. Do I need to double tap forward + punch (in order to do the other execution of the move) and then cancel with guard before doing it again ? Or do I need to do the usual one and double tap forward during the cooldown between each iteration of the move ? Thanks in advance !

slash R (to cancel the recovery) forward (tap), forward (hold) R+punch (slash) R forward,forward Think about it as R-block followed with 2 moon of mahaa-kalaa blocks into slash

The wings makes Viola slow and very open to attacks in the air, her default hook is much better

I just remade my pure platinum walkthrough of her chapters on NSIC on PP (will upload them when I do the same for Bayo chapters). This advices are not really mindblowing. The only real thing is her block offset, but you didn't show how abusable it can be. Her slash spam is cheesy, yet not so useful. It gives high DPS with low combo points. Viola is trash character. People have to deal with it. After playing Bayo for 3 games, playing her is like playing any DMC game with no upgrades and starting weapon on LDK+GMD mode.

I believe I taught comunity to cheese the whole game (except Rodin) with Rodin and clock tower, now I'm going to entertain some of few people still interested in this game with some PP run, with extremely fun (not really) fertile rondo cheese. Sad part is that it is in chapter 12, so I have to make 10 more chapters (as I said I already have Chapters 5,7,10 ready for upload)
