Yep, he received his Actor's Equity card for this 2004 performance. Several members of the Houston cast have written me to confirm that this was him and talked about how the entire cast would stop everything backstage to hear him sing this song. Even more convincingly, this video has appeared on many hollywood websites and blogs and been viewed almost 600,000 times. If this were not Adam, someone would have written to correct me by now.

I first heard this when Adam was still a contestant on American Idol - I'm a (former) Broadway tenor - well, I'm still a tenor, but no longer professionally - and pretty hard to please. PLUS, I'm in my sixties and quite an old fogie! But Adam can do anything as far as I'm concerned! This is perhaps the most beautiful rendition of "Come to Me, Bend to Me" that I've ever heard; his breath control, his intonation, his range - glorious! And even as the old fart that I am, when Adam brought his first tour to the Ryman in Nashville, I actually found myself standing ON the chair seat, screaming and dancing!! Wow - what a performer, in every genre!!

This brought me to tears. This song proves how he is such a star: at 22, he not only had the voice, the control, the command over his voice - but he had incredibly mature musicianship and artistry for his age. There are people who can sing, maybe even sing in different genres - but his blend of intonation, phrasing, control, artistry, musicianship - as well as his ability to wring every last bit of emotion from every note - truly set him apart.

If he had chosen to pursue a career as an opera singer, I think he would be world renowned by now. Trained, classical singers recognize how extraordinary his voice is. And how rare. But, he chose to be a pop singer. A great voice is not necessary, not appreciated, not noticed in that genre. Sigh.

It is a delight to come here. Not just to listen to Adam, but to share the love of other people struggling to find words for what cannot be put into words. We only know what we feel when we listen. We know that we are in the absolute heart of love.

Hope you caught Adam's guest duet with and supporting young contestant Angie Miller on American Idol singing just a fragment of Titanium and his latest Mad World opening the Chinese Idol. Easy to find both on Utube. Welcome to the world of those of us who know without a doubt that Adam Lambert has blessed us and the entire world with his presence in our lifetimes.

It will Amaze you .. he sang it at the Kennedy Center Honors awards in Dec. 2018 & got a Standing Ovation from Everyone including CHER!! Beautiful rendition!! Don't miss it!!

take THAT, Kris Allen! this absolutely took my breath away....the tone, control, emotion, expression, range...he is a phenomenal singer and I agree with the people who said he is the next SUPERSTAR. we won't even remember Kris Allen soon but Adam Lambert will be a LEGEND. Thanks for posting this brilliant performance!

What a knockout. Adam Lambert is incredibly wonderful. Listen to that perfect diction. 22 years old here.

I am astounded at the range and quality of his voice. I totally love the rock stuff, but this transports me to another dimension. I close my eyes and just float on the most incredibly beautiful voice I think I've ever heard - and I've heard a lot at my advanced age! This man could do grand opera and rival Pavarotti himself with his incredible tenor. What can't he sing? Nothing, nothing at all. He IS song and music and beauty and rock and glam and amazing talent. I'm thankful we have him.
