I was thinking back to 12 or so years ago when I got into this hobby. I purchased a $400 Westone UM3X-R. Listening to that today, I realized just how crap the tuning is, and just how amazing stuff is at even the $20 price point now. It is sooo amazing to see how far the hobby has come.

@@rioriggs3568 nope. The Hexa, Truthear Zero, and even the Wan’er are as good and or better technically. The B2 Dusk destroys it as well. The poor tuning of the Westone causes mid bass bloat that messes up details.

Man I got into the hobby at the perfect time with all these amazing sets coming out. I remember my first pair was a Blon 03. I was blown away at what I got for 30 dollars. Now fast forward all this competition it's beautiful to see.

IEM's are getting so good now, and not priced out of reach of most consumers. Most of the under $100.00 IEM's recently released, are better than the one priced at twice as much a year ago. What a time to be in this hobby. Keep up the great reviews Chris.

Best single-dynamic driver IEM under $100? That's some really high praise there. The $100 price category is getting a nice injection of competition it seems. Would love to see how this compares to its peers, especially the Olina SE, Truthear Hexa, and maybe the Letshuoer Galileo.

Simgot EA500 was released at Black Friday 2022, it was a huge surprise for the Chinese market, the market even said that was one of the best value iem that worth like 200 dollars if I recall correctly（Edited: The currentcy was actually 400 rmb( 60usd) worth like a1000 rmb iem, which was around 150 dollars, sorry for the mistake）

Thanks for the review! I'm totally blown away. My new favorite IEM! Very punchy, beautifully tuned to be so natural sounding. So much detail without sounding analytical. Also my favorite channel because Chris has literally never been off from what I'm experiencing in his reviews. Real similar taste. Lucky for me.

I consider the Moondrop Kato to be one of the best reasonably priced single DD IEM's around. I can listen to the them for hours on end with no fatigue whatsoever. Judging by the frequency graphs they are very similar although the Kato does have a slight edge in sub base. I'm wondering if the Simgots give the Kato a run for it's money?

I’d still be concerned about the treble vs bass, with a bass that flat rather than boosted - but a very interesting unusual tuning to see! Always good to see more options.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about the bass, at least not based upon what he said. There’s more to it than just amplitude. A lot more. I have the 64a Nio and use it almost exclusively with MX module which, if anything, has a lower bass shelf than this. I love a rumbling booming low end and it has that in spades (when it’s supposed to) even with almost no bass boast. Definitely better for the aforementioned than something like the MEST MKII (which I use every day along with Nio) despite the latter having a great deal more amplitude (~+10dB. MX Nio is ~+2.5dB until it starts dropping off around 40hz. You wouldn’t think it but the MX Nio beats the MKII for rumble/body etc. It’s not even close to my ears). Driver quality and implementation will always be king. Based upon this video it sounds like it nailed both for a $100 set.

My EA500s are still in their box as we speak - Brandon or you may know him as Goober on the forum rec’d em hardcore and now we have a little cult following going on over there. Honestly, if he says they’re good, than they’re good. He doesn’t like many IEMs and he’s specifically picky when it comes to rec’ing things to people, if he says they’re worth the buy, then they’re worth it. Thanks for the vid, Chris! I was looking at this the other day & misread the the description of the driver, I thought it was a dual dynamic but it was a dual magnetic circuit & dual cavity. Simgot have definitely made a beautiful looking IEM I'll wait for your full review before pullimg the trigger.
