As someone who has committed some of the worst sins and caused others to sin and deals with the regret every single day, hearing Father Mike speak about Judah is such a humbling reminder of how great and merciful our God is

What a wonderfully descriptive verse that is in Proverbs 4 v18 'The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter 'till the full light of day' It is a joy to see the sun rise on these winter mornings, wait 'till the birds start singing. Oh Lord our Lord how majestic is your name. in all the earth. Psalm 8

The changed hearts of the brothers were revealed only because of Joseph's test and yes, it seems that guilt and repentance can change the heart. That's why despite brokenness, now the brothers put their lives in danger for Benjamin and undo what they did with Joseph. Judah truly embraced the change. It is a reminder that past sins and mistakes don't define us and we must not stay stuck there but change. Job's discussion shows us how complicated the world is and how God's ways are beyond our understanding. Thus, we must trust God. The wisdom from Proverbs is very important to avoid trouble. It is right that we should not go on the path of wicked men - deep darkness that leads to stumbling (big risks). Hold fast to the instruction. Your feet will never stumble. The path of righteousness continues to get brighter until it's bright like noon (glory and happiness despite hardships). Thank you, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension

Another beautiful aspect of Judah's story is that it comes full circle. He was the one who suggested Joseph be sold into slavery. He says, "What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? Come, and let us sell him to the Ishameelites" Genesis 37:26-27. So we see that Judah not only wanted to get rid of their brother Joseph, but selfishly gain from consigning his brother to slavery and breaking his father's heart. But here, the very same Judah is willing to sacrifice his own freedom, for the good of his brother and father. He's gone from seeking to benefit at the cost of others, to sacrificing himself for the benefit of others.

This is my 2nd year doing Bible in a year and I’m learning so much. When I hear and read about Joseph I can’t help but think he is not blameless in what happened to him. As a young boy he seemed to be so arrogant with his brothers that it is no wonder they had I’ll feelings toward him. However, giving him over to be a slave was just so evil on their parts. I see the brokenness in all of them but they have all gained wisdom with age.

Father Mike, as we become older, we all change. There are so many things I did and said that I wish I hadn't, while wishing I had taken the opportunities God provided, but didn't. You've mentioned "brokenness," each time you reflected. I'm still broken. Each day I ask Christ to help me follow his plan and the gift of wisdom and forgiveness. Father, thank you for helping me to understand God's Word.

Today started out in frustration, I woke in a bad mood. That has never happened before, I ususally awake in a good mood and begin my day with a simple "Hi God". Listening to the Bible in Year today and the catechism has eased my heart and taken the mood from me. I found peace in the word and instruction of God. Thank you Fr. Mike for all that you do.

Proverbs 4 : 10 - 19 The Benefits of Wisdom 10 - Listen to me, my child. Take seriously what I am telling you, and you will live a long life. 11 - I have taught you wisdom and the right way to live. 12 - Nothing will stand in your way if you walk wisely, and you will not stumble when you run. 13 - Always remember what you have learned. Your education is your life -- guard it well. 14 - Do not go where evil people go. Do not follow the example of the wicked. 15 - Don't do it ! Keep away from evil ! Refuse it and go on your way. 16 - Wicked people cannot sleep unless they have done something wrong. They lie awake unless they have hurt someone. 17 - Wickedness and violence are like food and drink to them. 18 - The road the righteous travel is like the sunrise, getting brighter and brighter until daylight has come. 19 - The road of the wicked, however, is dark as night. They fall, but cannot see what they have stumbled over. The Good News Bible Today's English Version ( TEV). 📖🕯💒
