I'm a middle-aged man, married, with children and a professional services consulting business. But I'd legit be screaming the whole time if I could be at a private concert by Sara Bareilles, who I was very late to discover (not being in the target demo). I'm almost yelling at my monitor that they're all just politely clapping after each song. I could just watch live clips of her on KZbin all day - her voice is transcendent. I grew up on Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, so it's no surprise that I gravitated to Indigo Girls, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, etc., later in life. But her voice...those long notes she hits at 9:07, for example, just light me up. Her mournful singing is like a religious experience. She Used to Be Mine, Gravity, her cover of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road...just play it on a loop for me.

I'm in the same boat as you. Middle aged and finding Sara just recently. Just by chance I watched a KZbin Graham Norton show from a few years ago where Sara was the musical guest at the very end of the show. I like to catch these performances because, hey, sometimes it's an artist new to me that may be pretty good. Sara Bareilles? Umm, sure, ok. And she sang Used To Be Mine. Saying I was stunned by that performance is a gross understatement. I can't remember any artist performing such a beautiful song with such soulfully clear notes and amazing lyrics. I had to rewind to pick up her name again, and the name of the musical....and the rest is history. Right after that I found the album Amidst The Chaos. God, she is just such a talent, such a gift!!

@Dan G.: "I'm almost yelling at my monitor that they're all just politely clapping after each song." So I take it that it's not enough that other people would need to be ok with you reacting loudly (even if some people would be annoyed by a loud reaction), but in addition to that, you also need everyone to be like you when it comes to reacting. Just mind your own business for one second, and let people react how they will, just like how you would want people to mind their own business with how you want to react. These people are just doing what they want but instead you have to barge in and make them do what you want them to do, not what they want to do. Just be happy that they are doing what they want to do, they are being free, free from everyone, including you. Just appreciate that. They are not expressing their emotions with you in mind, they are just doing what they want and feeling how they feel. Let them be. Again, it would be chaos if everyone were trying to make people act like them, like what you are doing -- maybe it's harder to notice that chaos when we see only one person doing it, but one person does not deserve to be granted to be the only one who gets to criticize the emotions of others -- it's better if people just understand each other's differences. I take it you are saying this because you like Sara, but liking Sara isn't something special, and doesn't give you license as to directing how other people need to express their emotions, just like them liking Sara wouldn't give them license to make some argument like "don't be too loud and obnoxious in your reactions, show some respect to Sara" towards you. It's just annoying when people nitpick and find a problem with someone reacting in a way that they personally wouldn't. It's like, you want people to be free and who they are, don't you? They are not doing being who they are for you, and in fact you should let them be who they are for them. And maybe don't create more needless conflict by you failing to do that. And this would help you too, because if you are almost yelling at a monitor, it might be healthier for you to stop having that urge, and then you can avoid projecting your anger onto innocent people who just want to be who they are. Maybe you are joking or exaggerating, but just making light of something for a moment doesn't address or get rid of it, in fact oftentimes that is an attempt to distract from really addressing something that should be addressed by trying to make the underlying issue look like something silly that only exists for comedic value, even though there is more to it that is swept under the rug through just laughing it off.

I love you! I’m a woman but your words resonated with me…so much. She’s incredible in concert and her musical Waitress was fantastic. She puts her whole heart and soul in everything she does. Btw she’s in a new Tina Fey series, Girls5eva. It’s so funny and so good. It’s on Peacock. Enjoy!!!

This is how you know what makes a great artist and a true musician! Sara playing in the rain and being sooo professional! that amount of water is bad for the piano and it's hard to perform with those wet keys. yet she didn't complain and gave her best performance!

I watched from home and painstakingly recorded the 15 minute concert aiming my smartphone at my computer screen. Thanks for posting this professional capture Salesforce! What an incredible performance under the most challenging of weather conditions. I am a new Salesforce customer and have joined the Salesforce Family. What a great event which culminated in an outstanding performance by Sara Bareilles.
