I was a younger border at the same school as Rhys. He played first team with Habana. Popular guy, used to run over defenders. Glad to hear he’s on the straight and narrow - wish him all the best 👊🏼 great as always Jim

That was an honest, open and humbling share by Rhys. Thank you Jim for arranging this interview. Very informative and amazing how even with the worst cards dealt in life, we can still make a real difference.

What a great (wild!) interview! The time just flew. Couldn’t believe that was over one and a half hours! That’s some roller coaster of a life story but ultimately positive, uplifting, thoughtful and hopeful.

Wow! What a story. One of the best interviews/podcasts I have seen in a long long time. I was enthralled. Thank you for sharing the story. Rhys is a great storyteller and his honesty is brutal at times. Jim is a good interviewer and gives his guests space to talk and tell their story. Brilliant!!

Absolutely fantastic interview. Came to it after reading a crappy clickbait wales online story but I'm so glad I did. Jim the personal stories outside of rugby are fascinating and you do a brilliant job of asking great questions then just listening. Rhys also so engaging, so happy to see him doing well and wish him all the best. I took a lot from this, thank you both!

That was amazing, not what i expected, I knew about Rhys Thomas the rugby player and some of the health issues he had faced but not Rhys Thomas the man and his emotional journey. It was massively thought provoking and totally enthralling. Not sure if Rhys will ever read these comments but I would like to wish you good luck and happyness going forward and may your continued journey be both long and healthy.

Wow, such a traumatic experience over such a long time. I hope you find a new direction that can give you rewards you deserve. Your resilience and honesty will help so many others. I’m not surprised at Roger Lewis a truly horrible person.

Very moving. I also have a very strict SA school background (they were great schools, however). When I came to the UK - we moved backwards and forwards 4 times (so-called Soutie in SA) - I wanted to do anything to fit in. I had a SA accent - and was considered a foreigner. I was also considered a Soutie in SA by then as well - so not at home anywhere - but I loved South Africa and still do. Therefore, when I did finally come to the UK for good for A’Levels, I also went off the rails. I can associate with Rhys’s story. Wish him the best. It isn’t easy coming from a very strict environment and moving to a far too liberal and completely crazy society in the UK.

@@valleyfield43 people always seem to feel like its worse if its a sporting career ended by injury. That's the breaks when that's the path you choose. I know loads os soldiers had to come out because of injury and people don't to think that's as bad.

“ it’s only on the weekends “ that’s way way way too much! Once a month on drugs and booze over 2,3 years would be excessive . Every heart issue athlete should know better . U can’t drink every week and do drugs and expect to be ok. Great player but it’s common sense ! From a Welshman
