This is probably the best TT performance you'll see. If you listen to the song it's the story of TT. How naive they were to start, how crazy life got when they became famous, how people tried to manipulate them with threats (you'll find yourself floating), how the press wrote them off (they'll never dance again) - they were literally holding back a flood. The beauty is that when they perform this they are free of any ties to the old management, successful in their own right - the loyalty and gratitude to their fans (we will meet you.....we'll watch you sleep again). It's a masterpiece of lyrical irony and a tiger like performance where they just don't give a hoot what people think - Mark encourages Robbie "Come on!!". I just love it. The confidence on stage is electric - coming from countless mind numbing performances on treadmill tours. It's a two-fingered salute to the money-grabbers of the music industry, who think the artist would be nothing without them. They actually became big enough with fans to call the shots themselves

Colin. This was beautifully written! Really encapsulates and expresses how we Thatters feel having ridden this crazy rollercoaster with the band since day one, and the press always against them and fuelling the feud/ jealousy that plagued Robbie and Gary in the early days (regarding who was the lead vocalist with both writing tracks for the albums). Thank you. They truly are a huge piece of British music history!

As a fellow grown man in his 50s who was "woken up" by a health shock in February this year, I can tell you - with absolute conviction and faith (even though I am a trained scientist) - that the power in this song comes from God. The lyrics are not fully transparent, certainly of spiritual and religious significance. But the effect is to make us feel something special - something about our place in the universe that God works tirelessly to encourage us into. He sends His ingenious Holy Spirit to do the work, knowing that we have become passive and non-religious, but still determined to reach us, even in the face of all the other useles, trivial or downright evil distractions present in this world. Good luck to you, Chief, and God Bless!

@@rfcalm Surely my opinion, though also my experience, conviction and faith. A basic tenet of that faith is that we NEVER talk or think about lesser people or lesser lives, and surely we recognise the need for everybody to make their own journey through the life they do have. On the other hand, I have a duty to Jesus to encourage others, and a KZbin fundamental is that most views are free to be expressed. I also offer insight which is indeed precious, even if it may look foolish. Of course others may take that or leave it, though I hope the former...

@Lee Guest Robbie is a bit out of tune throughout but starts nailing it around @3:30 I also think that Gary is annoyed by the crowds underwhelmed reaction when he starts singing (when he is revealed by the spot light); and there are moments of rivalry in this performance like right at the end singing 'oooowaaah' Robbie is staring down Gary; who kind of looks away from Robbie. Gary is probably a better songwriter and technical singer but Robbie has more character and public appeal which I think Gary will always resent. It seems to me Gary is looking over at Robbie thinking 'well you asked for it he is your big moment don't fuck it up' and Robbie eventually find his confidence and goes 'have some of that!'.
@adamlee3333
@adamlee3333 2 жыл бұрын
@Lee Guest I stand by everything I wrote lol; you can pick up stuff from subtle looks at each other etc. you can tell Gary is shaky vocally at the start of the song but he later regains control on the 'there's progress now' section. Most of my analysis is based on hearing them slightly out of tune; so not much analysis required. Also, Gary and Robbie have a famous rivalry/falling out and you can tell they are still not 'the best of friends' in this clip.
@adamlee3333
@adamlee3333 2 жыл бұрын
@Lee Guest We are both viewing this performance through slightly different lenses; I can't help but notice the pitchy-ness of Gary/Robby's vocals at times; and musically-minded people (tune a guitar by ear for example) would probably back me up on that but if you don't see the performance that way, thats obviously fine lol people can interpret art/performance differently.
@DKTD23
@DKTD23 Жыл бұрын
@@adamlee3333 this is a bit of an odd take - They have had numerous times seeing other since this performance. It was definitely nerves for them, a special moment after 15 years. There's a clip out there where robbie performs at the brit awards and everyone but Jason came out to sing this song along with Back for Good on the stage. They also wrote Candy together for Robbie and it was his last #1 solo hit. If anything Robbie admitted that he went way over the top with the toxicity in their press/public feud, and any observer would agree. I just wish these guys would all record together again. Robbie seemed only interested in doing one album/one tour. Maybe that's better from a legacy standpoint, but I'd love for them all to record one last album together.

This video always brings a tear to my eye. You can see them all start off really nervous and awkward for their first comeback performance since Robbie left, Robbie was terrified for this exact reason worrying he wouldn’t be accepted in the same way since. But as the song progresses we then see Mark encouraging Robbie and hyping him up, reassuring him that this was where he belonged, while Gary was there for Jason to bring his confidence back. Slowly they all build each other’s confidence and become performers - and brothers - once more. And you can see it as they savour the last point of the song with a group hug. Great moment ❤

Look at the emotion on Robbie's face! He's loving every second! This really strikes a chord with me. I had a bitter falling out with my old band mates many years ago, and then last weekend we all met up at one of the lads 30th Birthday party and played together again... all unplanned... it was amazing! After The Beatles, Take That are my favourite band. Love their story and how much they love their fans. Every show is a spectacular extravaganza and I'm so lucky to have seen them live. Just wish they'd correct the grammar error in this track...😮

Bless Robbie, he looks so nervous. He suffers bad stage fright and you can kind of see it at the beginning of the performance. He loved being part of Take That and you can see it meant a lot to him 😊

This gave me chills when I first watched it - wasn't it their first performance back as a five? Also Gary's voice outdoes Robbie's in my opinion - its so smooth!! And I loved that Robbie and Mark moment, you can see Mark is so happy to get his bestie back :)

I loved Take That in the 90s and I love them today. Take That is one of the best boy bands ever. Their music and their performances are really great, even when they are no longer "boys". Their style of music has changed, because the members of the group have changed too. Robin,Marc, Gary and Terry became adults. Their outward appearance, their style, even their moves are totally different from the 90s. But I don' t mind because I love them in any decade they present their wonderful music. Keep on playing it! Thank you for wonderful hours of brilliant music ! 😄😊☺️
