I think the critique everyone doing on this book is very wrong. Bano Qudsia wrote a phillosophical novel. She asked questions only left for the readers. She never answered them by herself. She included in it not only Islamic and western spiritualism but hindu and Buddhist phillosophies also. She never claims genes affect the generation. It's only assumption of one of her character. And how you can say that that one certain character was her mouthpiece. I'm a writer and in my experience each and every character in a literary work is writer's mouthpiece. Most of people saying, vulture was symbolizing Qayyum, but if you read novel carefully each and every character was a depiction of vulture. Because vulture is not of only quality but a lot others. Just because Bano Qudsia wore dopatta never means she was writing traditional and religions. She was a bold woman with pure soul and she wrote only her mind. Right wing and left wing will always think her novel was preaching and left wing will hate her. What can we do. Raja Gidh is indeed the masterpiece of urdu literary arts.

یہ ناول رجعت پسندی کی تبلیغ کرتا ہے۔ دوسرے اس ناول میں ٹائم اینڈ سپیس کا بھی مسلہ ہے۔ سیمی شاہ 50 کی دھای میں ڈسکو کلب کا ذکر کرتی ہے جو 80 کی دھای کا مظہر ہے۔ بدقسمتی سے ہمارا معاشرہ رجعت پسند ادیبوں کی گرفت میں آچکا ہے۔

I loved the book even though I disagree with the concept of haram influencing the genes. Why should the sin of parents destroy the lives of their children or grandchildren. Wouldnt that be unfair (divine) justice.

what religion has to do with any philosophy BQ was not a great writer neither was her husband they were very ordinary writers. This novel was interesting to read and that's all there was no religious message.

I find it interesting that not a single woman found it important enough to show up for this lecture. I think this is one of the most subversive novels written, almost as subversive as bulleh shah’s work. I think she wrote it despite herself.

If you dislike science, hate logic, are enemy of reason, congratulations, this novel is very good for you. Aunty Bano is a very good PSEUDO SCIENTIST, promoting illogical hypothesis about genetics. After reading this SO CALLED MOST FAMOUS NOVEL of urdu language, Darwin and Mendel have committed suicide in their graves. ....... Yar sharam atti hai Allah ki qasam jub kaha jata hai kay ya urdu ka bhtareen novel hai. Urdu ma KALANK hai yai.... Sorry if somebody is hurted by my comment.
