5:31 This is why Apple needs to include features such as more cameras with some sort of form of, lidar, infrared, and the ability to take the person's eye condition into consideration. Where you have peripheral vision and make it so if your head is facing forward then you will see the forward portion that is in front of you on the screen in the peripheral area of the device so when you turn your head left or right in the same area you saw items as there were in front of you they will be in the same spot on the screen but your head would be pointed in the direction as if you had central vision but on the area of where you have vision. This would be achieved by not having a flat screen but a screen for each eye that would be like looking into a bowl. This would allow the cameras to pick up everything as if you had full eye vision in your entire eye but as you move your head as if you moved your eye depending on your eye condition the device could give you everything as you would without the device. An additional feature would be nice to have reverse cameras and sensors?

Hey Sam. Thank you so much for this review. I totally agree with you that you know that this is a brand new product, I do agree that with time I believe that it will be better for us in the future to use. With that said, I know you said that your comments and everything is your own and Apple had nothing to do with this video in terms of sponsoring it at all. But I would definitely still reach out to Apple and put in your feedback as a visually impaired person so that they are aware of the areas where they could improve it so much better. Hopefully you know someone or have a contact in the Apple verse. Thanks again, Sam! Awesome video.

You’re totally right. I think it’s not going to take that long. The hardware is here already now it’s developers turn to make the most out of it. A magnifier app for APV it’s a software implementation away from being a reality I’d say.

Hey sam, thanks for the good review. I actually made an appointment at an Apple Store to check these out in person just because I was curious. And they’re not for me. I am totally blind, after being a partial most of my life. And I rely on voiceover completely. And it was just too heavy on my head and for the expense I think I’ll wait. However, I would be totally curious to know what these would be like if I hadn’t lost my vision just a little over a decade ago. Would I have that hundred foot screen in front of my eyes I’ll never know. But I think it’s cool that as a visually impaired guy you’re able to review this.

Two questions: 1) Are the magnets located on the optional padding or on the device itself? I could potentially use this if there are no magnets on the device. 2) can the device serve as a second screen to an iPad? The lack of lag is an attractive feature for low vision musicians using standard iPad apps and Bluetooth page turner to read band or orchestral music. Thanks for the excellent review!

Hopefully we see some development in that area as more people get their hands on it. That said, I'd love to hear more about that development mode you mentioned in passing. What it takes to enable it and what it offers. Maybe I could hack something out myself or sponsor the development of a passthrough zoom.

As a concept, this could be useful for the armies around the world as you could have like a spacial view in all directions. I don't mean the apple vision pro necessarily, although that might change in the future depending on how it improves. But I mean this idea of spacial computers that you strap to your face. I think the f35 might have a similar spacial feature view, wherein the cabin of the airplane can be dropped from your view so you can look below.

Interessting. We have different diseases but similar issues. They thought I had Stargardt's at one point but apparently it's some kind of weird generic variant of wet AMD (although it started at age 27). No central vision, 20/300 in one eye, 20/80 in the other but progressing. I need to see (sorry) if this can provide signal from an Apple TV to watch television. Also have an iPad app that controls my music collection on my dedicated server. Having trouble dealing with it now even with 10X magnification and accessibility maximized on the iPad.
