If you get the chance try researching Vortex combined with Bio-stims. Two free captures and stalls a round. Also, Assault Cannon is an incredible tech for the Cabal. Build cheap fleets and throw them at bigger fleets for easy captures. Plus it's an extra defense over your SDs if you build a couple of cheap ships as guards.

One thing I noticed when playing is wormholes are all treated as adjacent too each other so if you can get malice and a space dock imagine the he'll you'd create with your hero card

Great Video! For the AIDA tech, you only can skip a prerequisite when researching unit upgrade technologies. You cant use it to skip pre-reqs for Generic Techs. So you have to get either DET or Anti Mass before you get Sling Relay

@@TheBoardGameKaptain, I do concur that Sling Relay is great for the Cabal. If you have a blue technology skip planet in your slice, it's a great tech to get. One of the few factions that would rather have SR than Grav Drive.

@@fredglassman1592 Gravity drive is absolutely fantastic for every faction, for sure. It's up there as one of the very best techs in the game. I only didn't mention it because it's one of those techs that's good for everybody rather than specifically for the Vuil'Raith Cabal. It's tough figuring what I can and can't talk about without making these too long. ;)

AI dev algorithms work only on unit upgade, to ignore one requirement, not technology upgrade

I think Assault Cannon is extremely good for the Vuil'raith. At the start of a space combat capture a non-fighter ship, yes plz! And you can get it early in the game aswell, Self-Assemble+Vortex+AI Dev=Assault cannon :P I love this faction.

Indeed, that is definitely a viable option. The Cabal is definitely one of the most interesting of the new factions. I'm also a big fan. ;)

I'm not certain, but I'd imagine that you can't take Muaat's War Sun and use it to research war sun's since it's a unique unit, and they're on their faction sheet that they start with isn't an upgrade.

I like this comment a lot. So this pertains to the exact mechanics of the rules in question. The Vuil'Raith faction ability RiftMeld states "When you research a unit upgrade technology, you may return 1 captured unit of that type to ignore all of the technology's prerequisites." So, at the time of the research, the piece is simply a captured War Sun, it is out of normal play and only affected by rules that reference captured pieces. Similarly, once you have the War Sun tech, you could return one of Muuat's War Suns to build one of your own with Amalgamation even though the Muaat player's War Suns are actually known as Prototype War Suns when in play. Also similarly, your opponent does not need to have upgraded their cruisers for you to use Riftmeld to return their captured cruiser when upgrading your cruisers. I hope this helps. :)

Once I saw the Cabal in a low influence slice. It was so sad to watch this little guys trying to move somewhere. Do not do that guys... Edit: also Yin Brotherhood would interest me, I like them story wise, but whenever I play them it feels like playing vanilla.

@@TheBoardGameKaptain Cabal is very influence dependant, but do not need much of ressources because of them stealing ships. My buddy in his first cabal game had like 3 influence in his slice, preventing him from playing aggressive and stealing ships. That led to a downwards spiral

They’re definitely not weak. That said, I still feel like they all have good matchups and bad. Any faction can seem OP with the right enemies on the table.

You're very welcome. It's impossible to balance so many factions. They all have strengths and weaknesses, good match ups and bad match ups. That said, I do think that these guys are definitely a top tier faction.

The game I played with these guys, I had a rift on one side of me, and a hyper aggressive titans on the other. One fleet died in a rift, other died trying to push titans out of my slice. With their slow start and bad rng, not a fan favorite of mine.
