From a story-telling perspective, time travel introduces a very obvious problem: anyone else with time travel can go back in time to change whatever changes you made. Speculation on this is what led to Niven's Law of Time Travel: any universe where time travel is possible will eventually resolve into a version where time travel is never invented.
@dronesclubhighjinks Жыл бұрын
I’ve never heard of that! Thank you for the information!
@purplecowadoom Жыл бұрын
Taking a quick look at Niven's law, it looks like it's a _theory_ that assumes that it is possible to change the past from the future, but in a way that still favors natural cause and effect. Meaning the result of changing the past changes the future, which changes the past, which changes the future, etc etc, back and forth until an end-stage result is achieved in which no change ever occurred. The problem with that is the assumption that the initial paradox of someone from the future changing the past of their own timeline would be possible, as opposed to a new timeline being spawned. I would pose a much different (and bigger) problem: Someone invents a method for traveling through time. They decide to stop some bad thing from happening. A new branch of time now exists where the bad thing didn't happen. Yay. Other people later in the timeline do similar things. The time traveler has to step in again. On it goes, all the way forward to the present day. The time traveler has to *keep meddling* if they want to preserve the result they've achieved, because sooner or later new bad actors will have the same bad ideas. The time traveler's best efforts cannot save the timeline for all of time. With that being the case, it would generally be better for the time traveler to try and deal with their problems in the present. Now we've killed time travel without actually killing it.

I've seen most of it, and enjoyed most of it, but I don't like to reference it as the standard for _anything_ . Doctor Who had the whole thing about time being "wounded" by changes, then "healing" afterwards. All based around the idea that some events are minor and some are major. Conveniently, whether an event is minor or major is always based on human perception of those events. There's a better, more logical way to tee that up, where events are the sum of all the factors that contribute to them. In that case, a "minor" event would be easier to alter, prevent, or supplant with something else because there are less things that contribute to it. Would Doctor Who ever explain things that way? Of course not. The audience _must_ be too stupid for that, so instead time is wounded animal.

Loki was honestly a very interesting concept. They just screwed it up by weakening Loki, and switching him out as the main character for a girl version of himself. It should have been a one done where Loki gets to the end and is killed by Kang, but is able to get a message out to Thor just before he dies, letting everyone know that kang is coming
@tyranidswarmlord9722 Жыл бұрын
Loki S1 really needed to happen, but they supremely dropped the ball on the execution. Loki doesn't have to kick the bucket there yet. Time travel + the Multiverse still had to be addressed, especially the consequences of it. Also perfect time to have a New Thanos for the MCU to eventually unite against, complete with something new, since we are already finished with the Infinity Stones. Less weakening of Loki, less bait and switch, less woke. Leave enough stuff as clues where Kang is manipulating from afar, but only subtly, because he is using the Loki Variant as his 'key' to escape his prison. And once the Sacred Timeline was freed, that's when shit hits the fan. Have it all be a giant chess where Kang is breaking free vs He Who Remains' entire gambit to keep the variants caged forever. End goal of Phase 6 with the ending of Secret Wars is having a good variant, the Iron Lad one that'll eventually get introduced at maybe around Phase 5-ish, volunteering to begin his eternal watch after Dr Strange-Loki-Wanda go through the hell that is Phase 4-5-6 just to put him in that spot...basically becoming He Who Remains 2.0 and fixing +restarting the cycle anew. All the while the different Kang-variants are igniting the multiverse as they go full Conqeuror mode, something which Dr Strange would see and be horrified in during Dr Strange 2 MoM. This merges all the Multiverse into one single Universe again, so no more time travel after this. Then Phase 7 can be the Xmen debut.

One of the reasons everyone loved Black Widow was that she's a smart, likeable character, without the need to dumb down the men. In fact, she's one of only two non-powered Avengers, but held her own beside the rest. S**t, she faced down the Hulk on her own. Sure, she was obviously scared, but that's what courage is, isn't it? It takes more guts to do what Batman does than Superman, if you really think about it. Even against Thanos, she ran into battle alongside Thor, Black Panther and Captain America. Captain Marvel, armed only with her arrogance and ALL the power got her ass handed to her. I laughed! When they killed off Natasha, I literally cried. She was a token inclusion from the start so nobody could accuse the franchise of being sexist, but the moment they actually have an even mix of male and female characters y'all start accusing it of being sexist towards men? At first, I took fat Thor as a nod to traditional Norse mythology since the actual god is pretty big in the original stories. He also had aesthetics seen in those times (long beard and hairstyle). I didn’t really get riled up about that as a result and didn’t really see anything to be mad about since he was going to better himself afterwards. Today, I still think it’s a bit of a stretch to complain about since he recognized that he couldn’t keep living like that and went with the Guardians to return to being someone he feels is worthy. ... It’s only after I saw that they completely made a joke of him in later movies that I really got mad. Bettering oneself doesn’t mean having a complete downgrade to prop up “Mary Sue Unit 275”. The road to being able to wield Mjolnir once again would have been tough, but Jane definitely wasn’t worthy in the slightest. Especially with the smug bitch personality “strong female characters” always have these days. Those characters make me flat out ashamed to be a woman and they discourage me from sharing my strengths because I don’t want to be seen as similar to those characters in any way. I think endgame set up time travel decently, having the rule that you can't change the past because that would create a paradox made sense, and they had it so to change stuff you had to be really careful as to not mess things up, but within the same movie they had past Thanos, Nebula and Gomorrah come to the present with no consequences. If they had had to send Thanos and his army back to his timeline while also wiping his memory, I think that would have resolved the problem, at least in a better way. As is with the time police and full on multiverse, it's just a mess.

1) There needed to be more interconnectivity throughout Phase 2: Hulk and Steve co-starring in Iron Man 3 (preferrably facing the actual Mandarin or a powered stand-in rather than corporate dude #3; Tony at least face-timing Steve in Winter Soldier, then sending a handful Iron Legion drones, also Hawkeye's role not landing on the cutting room floor; a proper set-up for Ultron running through Iron Man 3 (as a peace-keeping AI supporting Jarvis that's corrupted towards the end) then being in cahoots with Hydra in Winter Soldier, finally smart enough to send a back-up of himself to space to possibly feature in either GotG 2 or 3, 2) a Black Widow trilogy: the first one co-starring Clint and dealing with Budapest, the second delivering a superior version of the movie we got, the threequel taking place inbetween IW and EG with Nat and Steve putting together The New Avengers (Rocket, Nebula, Captain Marvel, Okoye, War Machine) and carrying out missions we actually get to witness + at least one Hawkeye outing (spotlighting his upbringing in the circus, possibly going up against someone like The Hood) and the heavily rumored War Machine/Iron Patriot solo, 3) mining the five year gap with releases for Agents of Shield (reintroducing Coulson and making the show MCU canon), Inhumans, Warlock, Nova, Daredevil, New Asgard/The Professor (Thor/Hulk double feature), Ronin, the aforementioned BW3, and something along the lines of Thanos - Servant of Death (shedding some light on his past, the festering lunacy in his mind, the disciples he gathered around himself and cosmic entities trying to take him to task for The Snap), 4) the MCU steering clear of time travel and rather having Tony, Thor, Wong, Mordo and Scott stick their heads together in Endgame to gain entry into the Soulstone and thereby Soulworld: some of the dusted would be so blissful that they'd refuse to return, others are so corrupted that they oppose and outright fight their friends, maybe throw a sliver of Thanos' soul in there as well so the Avengers aren't forced to fight his past version = two-dimensional cookie-cutter villain. 5) Take a 2-3 year break after Endgame, then recast and fill another ten years with either street level heroes going up against Kingpin and saving NYC, or X-Men vs. Avengers with The FF intervening or or or

@tutorialslave2 ай бұрын
@@questtofreedom I love that. Galactus could be propped up by making multiple appearances throughout cosmic-based sequels for Captain Marvel, Nova, Warlock, a new GotG roster etc. In some of them, they would merely discuss him/hint at him, in others he showcases his level of destruction by feasting on a planet and forcing the titular hero/es to evacuate as many people as possible before he satisfies his hunger. Also, Reed Richards could explore the cosmos through one of his countless inventions only to (mentally/spiritually) cross paths with Galactus ironically and tragically making him privy to our existence - not unlike what transpired in the recent FF comic "Life Story". Then go the route you suggested: have him reach Earth but not instantly act on his hunger; he just merges with the background and is seen as part of the scenery in half a dozen street level/lower stakes movies set in between his arrival and the first attempt to both grasp what he is and how to prevent him from carrying out his cosmic duty. Maybe Tony, T'Challa, Reed, Hank et. al. whip up a device to engage him in an otherworldly therapy session, maybe they "3D print" uninhabited planets for him to consume; either way, killing him would disturb the universe's equilibrium as he's essentially a necessary force of nature.

It's not just the writers that destroyed the MCU, even though they played a big part in it's destruction. The actors really did the MCU no favors attacking fans and attacking regular people for how they think and how they feel. Knowing what we know now about these actors, Disney could bring back the old writers, bring back the original cast, bring back the good CGI artists, bring Chadwick Boseman back from the dead, retcon all of the stupid decisions they made. They can do all of this, and I guarantee you that Marvel wouldn't see the same success. And the reason why is because a lot of the original beloved actors shat all over half of America by letting the mask slip, and letting their politics air out for everyone to see. People like Chris Evans, Samuel Jackson, Mark Ruffalo and Don Cheadle really couldn't stop piling on the attacks on people while acting as the beloved characters made by Stan Lee. And you're right. Because I've moved on from from caring about Marvel. I have no strong feelings regarding the failure of Marvel. I'm done.

A week ago, CanWeGetSomeToast (the second account of MyTimeToShineHello) leaked the synopses of The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. The summary for TKD was short: the Avengers go up against Kang and lose. Considering the fact that Kang has been taken down by Rule 63 Loki and a stampede of ants, the line-up must suck. Now that I look at Captain Falcon, Shang-Chi and She-Hulk, it all makes sense. But the meat of the leak was SW. Apparently, the TVA rebel against Kang and rally a team of multiversal Avengers, led by Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. At best, it's a really easy theory disguised as a leak, but it's just like old times. Marvel has realised their cinematic juggernaut has stumbled and fell. They got complacent after Endgame and thought they could make any old character a household name. I can actually see the leak of Secret Wars being real. They're falling back on nostalgic fanservice and banking on Maguire meeting up with Jackman to get bums in seats.

Excellent analysis but I see parallels with Spiderman 2 and Thor Ragnarok in that everyone I talked to after seeing Spiderman 2 was bothered by the fact that DocOc didn't stop all of Spiderman's punches yet stayed in the fight (the web slinger's blows will down a Rhino) but mostly that Peter suffers an emotional breakdown and loses his powers (huh? Seriously, huh?). In Thor Ragnarok Everyone was bothered by how easily Dr. Strange dealt with him, how easily Hel dealt with him, how a silly little electric shocker could down the God of Thunder and how the electric shocker survived the ultimate clash with the hulk. In both cases they made the hero weak to give them a challenge. In my opinion they both did better then they should have based on expectations from how good the previous movies were. (and that Thor Ragnarok was "Must See" leading to Avengers: Infinity War) Sorry, I know you love Spiderman 2 but, losing your powers because you have girl trouble is right up there with Padme' losing the will to live.

These 3 (with the F.F. and X-Men) were always the bedrock heroes at Marvel (their comics are still being made and sold) and by the End, they, and the Black Widow were gone, along with my interest in movies with female replacement heroes and star treatment of characters from the C list. This was followed by the bad decision to kill off the T'challa character (and ALL of his merchandising) because the ACTOR playing him passed away (RIP Mr. Bosemen). Lots of "Legacy" characters "killed off" for cheap thrills and shock value.

I hev not watched anything else except Multiverse of Badness, my brother wanted to see it, and that just confirmed that it did indeed end with endgame. That being said I have really enjoyed countless hours of youtube creators tearing the new stuff to shreds. Those videos are great because they save me the trouble of watching the movies and I don't even really have to pay close attention, I can just have this kind of stuff on in the background while cooking or playing with the dog. Plus on occasion I can make comments like this one making me feel smart and heling the creator rank because of "engagement". I think we have entered the post Hollywood period in history and frankly I welcome it with open arms.

I lost all interest in Marvel when they introduced time travel/multiverses.

Jesus Christ, Bonebridger! How many videos does it take for you to figure out how to balance audio levels between your narration and b-roll insert clips? I think Rachael Zegler broke my speakers...

Civil war was the last marvel movie i watched, tom holland's peter parker was more character destruction than i could afford...

True. Peter Parker was only in high school for like 6 comics. That high school kid borrowing Stark tech shit is so infuriating.

Wish I were as smart, didn't like that movie and I definitely didn't like them turning Spider-Man into Spider-Boy.

Nah, Marvel peaked mostly with endgame and Tom holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man wasn’t ruined at all if you look deeply into his arc from civil war to no way home.

@@hazman5528 Sorry, but "arcs" from the movies doesn't count, he must be true to the comics, all else is bullshit, like the morales movies trying to insert him as the "real" spider!

To be honest, I never understood why most people hated the BW movie. Natasha has always been a dark and interesting character throughout the MCU, and her movie gave her the leader spirit and background story she always deserved. Yes, this could have been Origin, but we were already too late for that. Black Widow's It had to get a trilogy, so I hated Marvel, but I still love her movie. If it had been released right after CW, the movie would have been loved more because the movie was always about Natasha's confrontation with her dark past, which was mentioned in the MCU.

I hold out no hope for saving the MCU as recent phases have broken it beyond repair, going so far as to desecrate the legacy of beloved characters. You'd need a major 360 degree turnaround and it must start from within by purging the studio of every single writer, producer and director that preferred pushing agendas and pandering tokens spouting pandering, cringeworthy dialogue to match over maintaining continuity and enriching the universe. Until it happens, the MCU will continue facing the law of diminishing returns.

"Just because someone stumbles, loses their way, does not mean they are lost forever. Sometimes all we need is a little help." - Professor Xavier, Days of Future Past My point is, just because Disney and the MCU have lost their way, does not mean they are lost forever. The plan Kevin Feige had for the Multiverse saga before may no longer be applicable now, Johnathan Majors allegations notwithstanding, but he can always come up with a new plan that respects what we, the fans, truly want out of any comic book superhero adaptation - to always have meaningful and clearly-defined stakes, even with a far-fetched concept like multiverse variants that make it difficult for us to care about that. More importantly, these stories be smarter, and feel more streamlined and less rushed in their execution.

@@Adamkalb1Sad part is Disney continues to stumble and then tumble their way to the cliff. Most are just calling it. They assassinated their own franchise. Pure and simple and they don't care. Not really. So no, it's beyond repair. Trust beyond repair.

@@Adamkalb1 If you'd been paying attention to the past decade, noting their recent repertoire across the board, your comment wouldn't apply. This is the path Disney has chosen and have renvisioned their bottom line as such. A choice reflected in mass produced live action remakes, woke propaganda, disrespectful treatment of its (especially male) characters and indifference to its core consumers. Yes, Disney COULD be saved but who's willing to clean house within? The odds of redemption are low, against our favor. No chance.
