Played our first rounds of 7s today. The way we did with kick-off is the following: 1) You have to aim at the receiving teams 1/3rd of the pitch. 2) The ball can land anywhere in the receiving teams 1/3rd or the midfield 1/3rd. 3) Touchback if outside the pitch, or in the kicking teams 1/3rd. From the BB2020 rulebook: A kick-off must land safely in the receiving team's half of the pitch. If the ball deviates or bounces off the pitch or the *_Line of Scrimmage into the kicking team's half of the pitch_* for any reason, a touchback is caused.

Just to clearify what I mean. The rules say the ball cannot cross the LoS _into_ the kicking team's half. It does not say the ball cannot cross the LoS _out of_ the receiving team's half.

My thought, run a 7s and 11 league simultaneously, but the only way to add players to your 11 team is from the players on your 7s team.

Big fan of most of the new sevens rules. Especially the NUTS desperate measures. Definitely making a few builds that include one for the teams that can include them. The random skilling up I don't feel too good about though. It just seems a little too random, and if you're the same TV as someone that managed to get block on big guys and you've just got shadowing then you're gonna be in for a tougher game, and your TV will be the same for it. I'll try it before judging it too harshly though. Already got an online league planned with the rules to start in a couple weeks, we'll just definitely not be using the drafting rule because we all think it's far too feel bad!

Thanks for the video. My first game of 7s with the kids today and it was a winner. They always take longer to play as they get sidetracked so less players and turns helped. Plus I think I preferred the setup where there are no blocks on turn 1 - just a blitz; doesn't penalise the kicker so much.

Very happy that 7's is getting the GW support I never thought it would. Most it of it looks fine, but there's no way I'm using the drafting rule for my new 7's league. Arbitrarily losing players outside the match is still as anti-fun as it always was.

I played and enjoyed normal BB many years back, but it's a game that just only really worked as league/tournament plays, and not so much as one-off games. So I am curious if sevens could be something for me. I would only play against 1 opponent. It could be one-off games, but it would be even better if we could play multiple games with the same teams, and gaining some skills for the players. Would that work well, or is BB-sevens also a game that works better as league/tournaments? Or does someone has any suggestions if you will only be playing with the same 1 opponent?

If a player gets drafted is the team reimbursed the replacement cost, or can it force you to play shorthanded or with a journeyman if you don't have the funds?
@ruioliveira18323 жыл бұрын
The rule doesn't mention any compensation.
@R0ssMM3 жыл бұрын
That was my reaction, too. If not I'll definitely push my group to house rule that, if we include drafting at all. Then it becomes a roll of 1 to lose a skill, essentially, which is much less feel bad.
@Stormtrooper17873 жыл бұрын
@@R0ssMM I could totally get behind a house rule that the farm team gets compensated the drafted players TV. Loosing a player as a result of death or the ire of nuffle is one thing, but to survive and skill up then be snatched away is another. Besides in pro sports the top level pro team is funding the underlying levels of minor league programs anyway.

I'm a little worried that the random skills will just make teams who start with strong skills (Amazons, Norse, Dwarfs, etc.) maintain their advantage through a league, especially if other teams' players who roll a good core skill get drafted out, whilst the A/N/D players are immune.

Going to wait & play the rules for a bit first before passing final judgement, but a little disappointed about the positional rules (was hoping for the 'half' rule to return) as it hurts teams like OWA who just become essentially another human team? 🤔

Yeah, it definitely would have shaken things up a bit! Ultimately it's like old Sevens, but ever so slightly worse (but nothing you can't house rule better!) 😁

I'm really not sure about the leaving to the pros rule. Just imagine a league and you roll really badly and lose three players with skills. Suddenly mid season you lose your core players. Can't compete and don't have the cash to replace them. Irrelevant of fluff how is that fun. Imagine spending a fortune on a big guy. Get him his first skill next game bang he is gone. I think it makes way more sense to have a cap on the number of skills/spp in a team only players who have three skills are forced to roll to retire. This would better represent those who a skilled but never get good enough to join the pros and have a full career on the minors.
@BoneheadPodcast3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jay, I totally agree with you! It is thematic, but there'll be situations that arise because of it that simply just aren't fun for anyone!! Or even have it at the end of the seasons anyone with 2/3 skills etc isn't available for next season?
@andersonjay20103 жыл бұрын
@@BoneheadPodcast someone had the idea that the pros buy the player out of the contract which could be a good.odea so you are not left in the lerch. Even then I think only players with three skills should be effected. Even then there should be a way to retain some players long term. Surely some are just not good enough to rose to the pros. Currently every player that lives long enough will get there.
