Boss, it’s always a pleasure when I come across a video of yours that I have yet to see. My friend, you have created a wonderful and beautiful life for yourself and yours. You’re such an inspiration to us all. You have definitely motivated me to pursue my dreams of living in the woods. I can’t wait to tell you about it. It’s gonna be a challenge, but that’s when I’m at my best. The screen house you built is beautiful. Even better with skirting around the legal nonsense. My friend, God bless you and yours! It would be an honor to meet you!

JC, Sorry I let a whole day go past before commenting, helping a neighbor pick green beans. You truly are an inspiration, your knowledge, the things you build, the things you have done. I wonder how many people know what an accomplished artist you are, your style and subject matter are exactly what I enjoy the most. Heavenly Father has really blessed you with some remarkable talents. Your friend - Chris

Really Really Beautiful!!! JC your vision on life is Incredible, it has pushed me to reevaluate what's important in my life and to start figuring out what is stagnant and I have begun to get rid of what I don't need!!! Thanks for the great videos and please keep posting as often as you can as I truly look forward to the next one, Kevin.

Hi Kevin, Funny you mentioned "stagnant" because I talked on that subject in this vid but deleted that footage. I try to keep the vids under 12 minutes so my rant on being stagnant will emerge in a future vid ha ha. Happy to hear my vids have encouraged folks into reevaluation. I will elaborate on this topic in another vid. I can speak volumes on the topic of life and finances. All the best my friend.

The refuge for the deer is one of our driving forces for buying the extra bit. I just knew that you were good with animals (your dog obviously loves you to death and even your chickens really seemed to like you) I'm really happy I found your channel because you even worry about your trees like we do. I wish you the very best in all you do as the world would be so much better with more people like you.

Thank you my friend. Yes it is nice and I have 2 deer in the marsh as I type this, but I can't really say I'd miss it. I have changed the landscape everywhere I've lived and then moved on without missing it. They're all just stepping stones. It's all about the climb I guess.

Good morning Boss, such a great little spot to sit and enjoy your life. It is calming and reflective watching the deer here too. We had a little family of raccoon's living in a hole on the adjacent 5 acre's but they never gave me a moments problems. They kept the fallen oranges on the property cleaned up and gave me many days of quiet giggles watching the little ones roll and run around. I too am slowly ridding myself of all these things that I feel I'm tethered to. The decision wasn't hard to make, it's the letting go. What did Carlin have to say, we buy a box to put stuff in and then need a bigger box for more stuff. lol Life is easier when we are older not to have to babysit the stuff. lol Thanks for the tour, it's a bit of a dream place isn't it? Looks like a magazine cover really. ATB Louise

Seezor Happy to hear you enjoy my postings. I do enjoy a few of the advances in technology, power tools, digital photography, SD cards, the internet and wireless communications, but I have little use for the rest of it. I can't stand all the electronics they put into vehicles and always have problems because of them. Except for some LED lights and my laptop, my NH cabin will be furnished like the 1930's. I'll wake up on Walton's mountain every morning. Life will be getting pretty interesting real soon here. Thanks for commenting.

You are blessed with an advantage that few people really possess. Reenforcing your strong ambition is the fact that you knew exactly what you wanted to do at a very young age. Few people really have that. Everyone has dreams, but few are really so specific. I'm 40 and really had no idea for a long time what I wanted to do. I think a lot of people are like that and it leads to lack of focus. One of my dad's friends knew from a young age he wanted to be an auto mechanic and own his own garage. He owns one of the most successful garages in the city now. I'm not sure if that kind of focus can be taught. But it is great to see such a good example of it. This video is truly inspiring.
@thebossoftheswamp
@thebossoftheswamp 9 жыл бұрын
+gunjunky7520 I think it can be taught for sure. The problem is, most of us grow up being told we can't do this and can't do that and to stop dreaming. Our desires are often squashed by our parents and teachers and we're brainwashed into believing success is measured by wages. So most chase wages and not dreams. At the end of the road I prefer to look back and talk about the dreams I conquered rather than how much money I spent.

Have been watching your show for some time, I have learned so much from your videos. I especially liked the one on canning chicken, ibought some whole fryers and im going to try your version. Would like to see some on making jelly or jam if you are up to that. I have trouble getting my jelly to set. I followed the sure jell packs to the letter,but so far I haven't had much success. Could you do some videos on making jelly? I also enjoyed the dutch ovens series. I down loadedall of your series on everything, and made them my favorites. I'm planni g to move to mountana in a couple of years, hope you can do some videos on skinning deer. I and my partner will be living off grid. Would also like it if you could show how to do solar pannels. Thanks from the dragon lady

Hello Linda, I already posted a video on skinning and processing your own deer. It's here under my "videos" tab. Good luck with your chicken and Merry Christmas to you.

You've done well my friend. I really admire you. I'd have to have a hammock in that screen house - my Ellie loves swinging in my hammock with me - I bet Frankie would too! It's comforting to live in harmony with nature. That's something the yuppies and the anti's will never experience. They will never experience the peace and fulfillment that comes with living in harmony with nature, playing our role, taking what we need to survive and offering sanctuary and refuge so that the circle of life can continue. Enjoy the summer my friend - it's in the high 90's here with 80% humidity. Every summer I swear I'm going to start digging into the side of a mountain to stay cool.

I'm about your age, as best I can tell. I have spent my entire adult life though out of the woods and out doors. I live in north Texas where the are no trees taller than shrubs. I miss the woods. I feel it in my bones. Especially now that I'm getting old... well, older. You have inspired me to seek out some wooded land and cabin to escape to. It will be difficult to obtain, but, I will do it and will enjoy my time off. Your words, life is what you make of it. I'm changing some things in my life, what's left of it anyway. Screen house inspired idea I like very much the way your practical mind works, it takes me back a few vid. to your towel rail design when you stated that you had measured your towels at home so they could dry unfolded such simple but thought full idea, we have a heated towel rail fitted by a previous owner must by $250+ can you fit a towel on it can you hell to narrow and to tight between the rails keeps one side of the bathroom nice and warm though. love both your places but prefer the new one not quite so polished and more to do...

Good video Boss! You do great work, I too have been down sizing on the material items I have collected over the years. The old saying: "The more you have , the more you worry" is true for me. Enjoyed the video, was glad to hear the Pileated Woodpecker in the background, my Dad always called them Wood Gods. I have one that nests in a huge living Sweetgum tree on the backside of my property. They are one of my favorite birds. Ok enough rambling on, keep the vids coming!!

Thanks Mike. One of these days I'll do a start to finish vid of this project. I need to find a way to convert my 8mm tape so that I can use my old footage. I started with a abandoned shack that was empty for 24 years. It was quite a site I'll tell ya.

I am casual now which helps as transit is a sweat shop. Today as example a horrible neck ache so not going in this afternoon. At least I get to Mexico every year several times which we hate the flight but love all inclusive. My struggle is birds & dogs as I need a person that can tend worldclass racing pigeons & we will never put our old dogs in boarding. Mom always said a man can only stand on a square ft at one time. My wife is a homebody & I am a dreamer so we are also unsure of retirement decisions.

Another cream of the crop video! I get notice of a uploaded video on my phone ( Imagine that) and just want to stop everything to sit a spell to watch but I don't :)) I save it for the early morning with a hot cup of coffee curled in my chair. What a really great way to start my day :)))) I was not in the mood for chili but really wanted to try your Authentic Ancho Chili mix. I received a string of fresh caught fish so I made a fish stew and used the mix and it was amazing :)))) I added just a pinch of cumin, not because it needed it but just because I like it and baked white corn bread in the cast iron. I am really enjoying working with your spice blends! I'm just sure it will make a delicious summer soup with venison, black beans and corn, so that will be next. Have a great time at the cabin and don't forget the potatoes :)))))

Hey there Melody, So happy you are enjoying my spices and thank you for sharing your thoughts on my videos. I find it very encouraging when folks voice their approval like that. My "Five pepper Inferno" dip mix is heavy with Cumin. I use the dip as a sandwich spread and even put it on my eggs. It's got some heat to it though :-o~ Thank you for all your views and comments. I always enjoy them.

Melody Capehart Medina LOL. If you like heat, I'm surprised you got the Ancho chili cause that one has no heat at all. The Chipotle has a nice heat level to it. My heat tolerance has really grown since I been in this business.

Good for you Boss!!!! Beautiful property... just wonderful! And the screen house is beautiful. As a carpenter myself, I must say you are a talent. The screen house is beautifully built. And the Chiminea is great... I see you shop at "The Sportsman Guide" I have the same one and that's where I bought mine. And I burn my wood scraps in it also. And cook my steaqks in it too!!! LOL!!! Hey Boss Thanks for sharing your video with us. Great job, and my God Bless

How ya doing my friend? Good to hear from you. Those little chimineas are great, I picked that one up at a local hardware store. When I build the next addition onto the cabin it will have a screen porch attached and I will do the same thing in there. Enjoying a fire without the bugs is just awesome. Always enjoy your comments. God Bless.

Thanks for sharing. I like the screenhouse. You have a really nice voice for the narration you do. I have seriously been thinking about going through my "stuff" and downsizing. I think it would really be worth it, no pun intended, to sell and get rid of a lot. That way poor hubby won't have so much to move next time.

Thank you Lisa. I still have lots of stuff to part with. I need to get myself ready to move if that's what I decide to do. I'm back to work on the cabin now with the money from all the crap I sold. Screen house looks great, nice work. I wish I had been in a position to buy up a bunch of land when it was cheap, now it's well beyond my meager means where I'm at now. When I retire though the goal is to find a nice big piece where land is still reasonably priced and build my own homestead. Your place there looks awesome. Keep those videos coming.

Land was expensive where I was living in NH. I had to move away to conquer my dream of owning a hundred acres, so I did. Dreams are important to me and sometimes I have to make major life changes to conquer them. Even if I sell it all and move away, the dream is checked off the list and I can move onto something else. Always lived this way. All the best my friend.
