You ever think about starting an online meeting once a week. You have a really powerful message and are a great example. Could reach a whole lot of people like that and a ton of people would attend. Especially a beginners meeting, keep it open to newcomers in sobriety and for those that have a burning desire.

This is so true. So many times I've tried to solve the problem in my head. I thought a lot of introspection and critical thinking can cure me. "If I can figure out a way to think only positive thoughts, I'll finally be able to do the things positive people do." I had it backwards.

God I love you Brandon! Being born in 1990 my young adulthood involved looking up to you guys or just seeing you everywhere, it was a era that I’m sure is relatable. I started my second journey in recovery the beginning of this year and I’m doing it differently, last time I went into treatment after 30 days went straight back to my people, places, things, 10 months later I’m in a hotel loading the stem with a piece of furniture pushed up against the door thinking every footstep I heard was a cop with a k9. This time I’m in a sober living house in Asheville NC with a big network of like minded individuals. I love hearing your story and I’ve definitely stole some punch lines from you! You are extremely helpful and inspirational!

What an inspiration you are Brandon, that answer is the way to change anything in your life and overcome any obstacle you’ve put in front of yourself.. there’s a saying my mom always told me which I’ve hated hearing until I started committing to it and seeing results, and it’s also very simple.. You get what you put into life.

My brother struggled with addiction and alcoholism since the age of 17. On June 26th 2021, his addiction finally took his life at the age of 43. I stumbled upon your videos because I was trying to better understand the struggle of addiction and what my brother could have possibly been going through. So many thoughts and what-ifs run through my mind right now after his passing. It's hard. But, I am glad you are doing well and helping others and giving back. It is so wonderful to see. I only wish I had seen these videos sooner and I wish my brother could have somehow followed in your footsteps. Rest in peace Tommy. Love you always. 05/20/1978-06/26/2021.

If we could out think ourselves out of our addiction there would be no addiction. Unfortunately when we are actively using our thinking is our worst enemy at least for me. I can only speak for myself. I hope to one day be free of this mental prison I put myself in. Brandon you give me hope because you remind me that we can all do it. It's not easy but life isn't anyway. Thank you for continuing to share your journey and inspiring me to be a better me because none of us are getting younger and somewhere someone needs me to be the best me. Not the irresponsible not giving a fuck about anything me.

Hey Brandon, I just wanted to let you know you are my hero and inspiration. I got off of heroin in 2006, stayed sober until I relapsed in 2017 and quit again in 2020. At this point, I have dealt with the deaths of two best friends, escaped an abusive relationship, gotten sober again and made more comebacks than Madonna! I am not going to continue to kill myself. And as sad as it is to say, I do not want to end up as Bam. I hope he can get sober, but I'm really afraid for him. Anyways, love you, Raab, and Steve O so much. If you can do it, so can I and thank you for all you share with us. 💘.

1 year clean on 7/4 after 10 years of herion iv use. i managed to do it without faith-based 12 step programs too. i say that not to bash AA/NA but to let others know it is possible.
@jessi48943 жыл бұрын
I am an atheist, so trying to find a non 12-step recovery program was super hard! Luckily I found the SMART Recovery program. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. If you are an atheist or just have a problem with faith based recovery, look up this program, it is amazing. Stay sober and if you're reading this please know that it can happen to anyone, especially if you're in pain. You're not a bad person and you're not alone.
@takecareofyrshoes3 жыл бұрын
@@jessi4894 i’ve attended a lot of smart meetings so yes, i’m familiar and they’re great people for sure. i just know during my first 7-8 years of trying to get clean i could absolutely not get on board with AA/NA. i am an atheist too and very much struggled with how the whole god thing was heavily entrenched into their philosophy.
@mr.p21052 жыл бұрын
Best of luck to you in your recovery. Faith is just a spiritual principal, i started out in N.A. as an atheist but after going through the steps I made up my own "higher power". one of my friend calls his higher power "the easter bunny". After my struggles i was willing to try anything - even a program littered with the GOD stuff. Thankfully there are others who came before me and laid the ground work to help people like us interpret the literature differently so we can discover our own higher power.

It makes perfect sense what he said and I've done what he's said before but it just never lasts. I did 4 months straight last year, I was fit, healthy, had money, liked being around people and expressing myself... but that obsession man... the second you think you've 'beat it' and its gone... it just comes right back. Convinced myself I'd do 8 months this year! Already failed that commitment. I know I have to stop white knuckling this and just ask for help. I'm just not ready yet, it isn't my time, but it keeps forever looming, inch by inch pushing me closer to a program. I'm not going to die anytime soon at 30, but I know I haven't started living yet either. P.S. I ain't calling yo ass neither lol, I'll leave the line open to people in worse situations than me. Keep up the good work man!

You really are an inspiration for me. I am yet still battling the hard realities of addiction and just can't seem to get clean. As you say everyone's addiction is different and I just have a special case. Not much younger than you and have been using just as long as you did. So many times have I been to detox and rehab. Just can't get it to stick. Also as you have said that you never lost anything during your addiction (family, homes,@etc.) You gave it away, and Brandon man have I gave so much away, all over this stupid addiction. Im.so tired of hurting and suffering daily and I would give almost anything to help cure this disease we call addiction. I too can write a book about my life and it would be one hell of a tear Jenking best seller. Anyway keep up the good work and maybe one day I too can help motivate.

@@TheBrandonNovak ok buddy. I have came to light that I must quit this life for many reasons now but most of all for myself. I will be all alone physically and mentally. I have no support system and the rehabs that medicade offers around me are more like 3 day detox places that hold you for 72 hrs and give you some flyers and then the boot. I know 100% in my heart and mind that I can overcome this and make it past the withdraws and then on to live a sobor life. I have tried so many times to get clean and I have always failed but hitting rock bottom has caused me to realize that it's time to grow up and stop living this kinda life. You are such a huge inspiration and an amazing guide. I will just keep watching your videos while I'm going through this hard time to help keep my mind clear and to stay focused on the main goal and mission. If for any reason some reads this and can help with words of inspiration that would help me a lot with getting through all of this. I have no real or true friends and the people I do know are all involved with drugs and or alcohol and I can't be around them anymore because all they do is help trigger my addiction and make me wanna use. I know it's as easy as saying no but my addiction never let's me say no infact as you know it says more and more please. So if there is anyone out there even you Brandon that can help with some kind words of inspiration please feel free to text or call me at 719-726-2248. Please only kind and positive vibes from people because I know how some people can be and like to say things that would upset someone and judge people such as myself for being so weak. Just because I have a disease doesn't make me a bad person I just do bad things. I have a huge heart and nothing but love to give. I am seriously just asking, no make that begging for help to be able to beat this thing as best as I can alone, so please God, or anyone help me! I just need 1 more shot at this.
