Like the new format of lots of games in one video - felt like the video packed a lot of content in which was great :)

I like Chai as a very beginner friendly game with light puzzle with the tea ingredients being like bejeweled; Chai for Two, it is a great puzzle game that I want to get with how fun and beautiful it looks.

I've really enjoyed Tawatinsuyu. The initial restrictions on figuring out where you feasible and economically place your meeple is the heart of the complexity and I think that stream lining the potatoe cost would take a big chunk out of Tawatinsuyu's fun (fun if you're a heavy gamer). Great review!
@TheBrokenMeeple3 жыл бұрын
Good to hear - you can still have a potato cost, but do we need 2 different modifiers to it? Why not a flat cost modifier based on height of the temple and then just say you flat out can't take an action behind the priest - you remove all those potential options, the rule is easier and there's still plenty to keep heavy gamers occupied. Like I say, the heavy games on my shelf "usually" end up heavy because of what you're doing, not how it's done. As let's face it, in Tawantinsuyu, all you're doing is moving up tracks or acquiring patterns.

Having played all three T-games, I found Teotihuacan to be the most fun and sandboxy, Tekhenu to be the tightest puzzle with the least wiggle-room for mistakes and Tawantinsuyu to be the most convoluted (My one teach of this game did not go very far or very well). Thumbs up on the review format! This has been my favourite so far.

Excellent, I'm glad the compilation format worked out well - should help me in busy periods.

Great video Luke, you hardly took a breath throughout! I must admit I am interested in Tawantinsuyu, I will consider getting that one. Emma and I both like Teotihuacan but some of my games cross the line - "barrier to entry" as you put it, like tonight we played - I love it - Emma is like "I'm not sure what I am doing" but by the end of the evening she did admit it is a good game if a bit hard.

By all means, give it a try, but it's not the easiest to grasp - just a lot of little rules to remember.

Maybe one day! But it's not falling at least! :P Haircut today hopefully and can finally go back to styling it back rather than forwards - my mum prefers the latter but what does she know? :P

I love Tawantinsuyu, it's my favourite out of the T games. Teotihuacan was good, but ultimately felt very samey to me over time, so I ended up selling it. Tekhenu I have only tried out solo so far, the solo didn't exactly win me over, but I do see potential in the game and hope playing it multiplayer will fare better. But I think Tawantinsuyu will remain my favourite. That one just hit the spot from the get go. I love the choices you get to make already in the set-up, in regards to which god cards to keep in hand and which to discard for benefits. Is it a beast to teach? Sure, but I think the game is worth the investment.

That's cool, I do believe for many the pros will more than outweigh the cons.

Personally found the Tawantinsuyu solo mode super smooth and simple. Much better than Teotihuacan (also my fav T game and in my top 10) which I always find myself looking in the rulebook for almost every action for the teobot
@TheBrokenMeeple3 жыл бұрын
True but then Teotbot was very fiddly in general.

The Networks does have a solo mode which is meant to be pretty good (heard it's challenging).

Love Tawantinsuyu! Most underrated game of last year?
@TheBrokenMeeple3 жыл бұрын
Nope! It's good, don't get me wrong, but I think its current rating is fine. Some love it like crazy but I think the flaws still stand and I still enjoy it overall.

Think I'm probably just gonna consider Tzolk'in, Teotihuacan & Tekhenu my complete T Trilogy for now and maybe pick up expansions I don't have. I only heard about the Daniele Tascini stuff that happened earlier this year after buying Tekhenu. Did you have any thoughts about what happened and how it makes you think about his games? I've heard arguments either way.

It was a controversial topic and not all the facts were made clear. It appeared to be a case of mistranslation in areas, but also a lack of awareness in others. He did apologise sincerely though many extreme views didn't care that he did and I feel that publishers overreacted to appease. I believe that most are not beyond redemption and deserve the chance to prove it. I tend to separate art from the artist though. I still own several of his games and after all, I own a bunch of Arkham Horror games and we know what HP was like.

Speaking of abstract games. A suggestion for beyond the base game: Warchest expansions.

I couldn't jump into Tawantinsuyu just because of the non-intuitive icon symbols all over the board. Teaching this would be a nightmare with people always looking at the player aid just to get through the game. This was a hard pass for me.
@TheBrokenMeeple3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, intuitive is not a word i would use for this.
