I don't think people fully understand how important this skill is. In tennis margins are razor thin and winning the points that matter is a quality of a champion. Showing that early on is signs that a player will become great, Sinner and Alcaraz demonstrate that while the previous generation seemed to lack it.

Djokovics mental game relies on the opponent lowering their level Alcaraz mental game is rising above the opponents lvl and taking what they bring
@othmannejjar2 ай бұрын
That's not true - The ability of Djokovic of making no unforced errors in critical moments while maintaining his level is unmatched. Of course - What Alcaraz has showed so far in crucial moments has been nothing short of insane.
@razgriz1ne1ne482 ай бұрын
@othmannejjar you proved my point, he makes no errors = he banks on the opponent to lose the points rather than him win them. Statistics show that 77% of the tiebreaks he wins when he has set point are on the opponents serve and they make a first ball error, but when he's on serve and the opponent gives him a neutral ball down set point, he only wins 35% of those points
@SebastianSaavedra2813 күн бұрын
Honestly, that doesnt make sense at all, maybe you have the statistics in tiebreaks but there are plenty of matches were Nole just raise his level and he wins the sets without reaching a tiebreak

Carlos is superhuman 😮...Not only crushing power, blinding speed and reactions, but he is also a brilliant net player. All that and a staggering tennis IQ make Carlos very dangerous to anyone. Oh and his mental strength is beyond his years.

If, and it's a big if, he stays healthy this kid will rule tennis
@mireafelder81942 ай бұрын
That's not a big if at all. ☺People overemphasize his injury proneness for whatever reason, when in fact players like Sinner (who is 2 years older) or Djokovic were much more prone to injuries at his age. His body will grow out of it as well.
@lemcortezАй бұрын
The only "IF" I see in your statement is "IF" you were drinking at the time of your post after witnessing a 19 year old with greater experience than current tennis titans.
@knightscourt9558Ай бұрын
@lemcortez my guy what are you talking about. He could have all the experience in the world, but if his leg falls off it doesn't mean sh!t. IF he stays injury free he can use that experience.
@lemcortezАй бұрын
@@knightscourt9558 Bro...really. The legs falling off a 19 year old? C'mon bro, the only injury young players don't return from are mental ones (pressure) like; David Nalbandian.

There's one important match he also turned around in fashion. Against Jannik Sinner at the 2022 US Open QF. Saved match point with Sinner serving for the match after not being able to win the third set on serve and was even a break down in the 5th. He went on to win one of the greatest US Open matches ever and won the tournament to become the youngest number one.

His ability to play big points is most reminiscent of Djokovic. A refusal to be beaten and insane clutch factor that can't be taught

But he has harnessed Roger's uncanny ability to maintain nothing but tactically brilliant aggression throughout. Carlos also possesses delicious prowess at the net. Rafa nor Nole have that.

I just follow the Grand slams...but after watching the ATP masters...The kind of Comebacks he has made in these Tournaments. Is really gutsy and he is as Novak said after losing the Wimbledon 2023 final to Alcaraz..He is a spanish Bull...never mind the score line... mostly he just runs and butts into you... Amazing athlete.. temperament.. Mentality...Strength,Speed, Variety, Confidence.. Attitude.. Sportsmanship.Happy, humble...warrior.all of these traits and virtues visible to his opponents on court...To beat him...either he has to be reasonably injured, not focused, out of rhythm or Form ...If he keeps this level he may add more power and muscle work harder...then with his appetite for challenges...he may not win all the time...but if he keeps up the level...he sure has some more wins at Grand slams and ATP ones...He reminds me of the old Greek type Champions in an Arena..Add to that there cant be any tennis lover and fans and organizers who can't appreciate his Brand of Tennis...Somehow even if Sinner is No 1... or the other seeded players upto 20 are quite boring to watch if it does not include a Alcaraz as the opponent ..
@zaviali58 күн бұрын
You can just feel that he's got that inner self belief to get out of any situation. At 20, 3 time grand slam champion. Unless any injuries prevent him but he's destined for greatness. As a fed fan, I hope Carlos can match and beat all records that he can.

and this is even without counting the grand slams. he is 12-1 when it comes to 5 set matches. at wimbledon he beat djokovic in the final in a 5 set match. at the us open in 2022 he played 3 5 set matches in a row and winning them all, even having a matchpoint against him against sinner. he ended up winning the tournament and his first major. at roland garros 2024 he beat sinner and zverev in 5 sets after being down 2-1 in sets. the crazy thing about this roland garros was... he wasn't even playing his best tennis
