Your (non-shooting) review of the Super Carry Pro is much better than the one sgt1911 produced. He failed to even mention the lightweight alloy frame which is one of the big factors in my hunting one down. The compact size (compared to the 5" barreled model), and the bobtail grip, along with proven Kimber quality are the other reasons. I can't wait to see how yours works at the range. Myself, I'll be following Kimber's cleaning & lubrication instructions, incuded free with every purchase! DE

Beautiful 1911. I'm going to buy a 1911 in the next year, and this is one I will consider. I only want to make this purchase once, so I'm looking for quality, not the cheapest available.

DS makes some great weapons. I built an AR using a DS lower, and it's been nothing but great. Unfortuntely, DS just doesn't make a 1911 in a configuration that I want. The SCP is EXACTLY what I want in a 1911 carry pistol.

Glad you are having good luck with yours. I purchased the same exact gun months ago, if not even over a year ago. The barrel rusted before I even shot it within a couple days after purchasing, probably 2 or 3 days. I have failure to feeds every time I shoot it, or some other kind of malfunction. Wish mine was as reliable as yours. Using the same mags as you, and good factory ammo. I hate how some Kimbers are great, and others are terrible.

I have worn a Crossbreed style holster, and they're nice. I find them a bit big and difficult to remove when necessary, but they work well. The N82 works better for me. It may not be for you, and if you try it and don't like it. They'll refund your money without hassle. They may ask you why, but only because they want to improve their product if possible. If you tell they that you just didn't like the color, they would still refund your money without a problem.

Originally, yes they were. However, modern manufacture and materials have changed a lot of things about the 1911 from how they're made to how they're run. I've had over 700 rounds through mine without incident (without cleaning as per break-in instructions). The Teflon in the finish really reduces the need for extra lubrication, but it won't hurt. I've put a dab of oil on the rails from time to time. I just prefer to run without it. It's never been a problem.

Wife and kids are doing fine. Thanks! I've also got a Sig P229 and a Ruger 22/45. I also have a Springfield XD. I've owned other Sigs, S&W, and other auto pistols. I will always believe that the 1911 is the perfect pistol. The biggest reason for me owning Glocks is for GSSF competitions, but I still like the pistols themselves.

Of course! I haven't even cleaned it yet.

Carbon steel provides better heat dissipation, and it's easier to work with. I don't believe either material is superior over the other because they both have advantages and disadvantages. All of their barrels are match grade and extremely accurate. What matters is the quality of manufacture, and how the barrel is fit to the firearm whether pistol or rifle. They will make a stainless steel barrel for you if you want, though.

I was not implying that the TRP would be good for carry....my original comment was in response to you stating that no other production 1911 was built with as tight of tolerances as the Kimber and the standard features. I love my Kimbers.....but I honestly think my TRP is better made. Nice overall job on the video....I'll definitely watch more from you.

I really like mine and I have owned it 2 years now. Got it for 1,263.00 OTD. It has been flawless since the first 100 rounds. Had some issues at first with 8 rounds in the kimpro mag but not 7 rounds. Tight mag springs I guess. I replaced the main spring after 500 rounds to keep things tight: 22 lb factory. Keep it clean after 50 rounds and you will have no problems. I also have the government size Stainless custom II for 12 years now and it runs like a Swiss watch.

Years... and this is still my favorite .45, and my favorite handling pistol. They got the balance right. I'm able to get my grip high enough on it. The sights are amazingly bright. The backstrap detail is beautiful. The one-way grip fish scale on the slide is amazing. Good job on the melt-feel. The finish is holding up great. Solid rock-solid feel. Put it in a leather 1791 holster to get less scratches. Use teflon powder(Dupont easy-entry lock lubricant). The bobtail really does lend itself well to appendix carry. Buy two so that you can practice your gun-fu!... And then they had to show up in John Wick. HA!

Yes, the slide stop, hammer, and trigger are all MIM. According to Kimber, their MIM process makes their parts just as strong as their forged or cast counterparts. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. However, I haven't heard or read any reports of MIM part failure.

Great price! I actually went over 750 rounds without cleaning when I was breaking it in. That was when I had my first FTF, but it just took a quick tap on the back to get it into battery. Kimber says to go 500 before the first cleaning to allow the internal "slurry" to work the parts in. Either way, it worked. I keep the mainspring compressed most of the time because I carry Condition One, but I may get a spare anyway. I do love those Kimbers!
@thebudgetarmory112 жыл бұрын
I've had fantastic experiences with them. I've owned over 10 1911's over the past 20 years including Colt, Springfield, and Para Ordnance. While all were great pistols, the Kimber is definitely the best that I've ever owned.

I have the Super Carry Custom HD, it is Heavy but shoot's like a dream. Zero malfunctions in 5 year's, carry mostly as a backup hunting, just now reaching the break-in count. I was aware of the 500 rounds for break-in but not the no cleaning part until 500 rounds but I'm big about cleaning my firearms no matter 5 rounds or 150 rounds, I always clean. You have a good one there, take care of it and it will take care of you.

I haven't had any issues with rust on my barrel. The do use carbon steel instead of stainless. I read an article as to why, but I don't remember where. If you keep your gun clean, it shouldn't be a problem.

Running the gun dry means that you don't put any oil on the rails. Today's firing pin springs should be strong enough to prevent an accidental discharge if the firearm is dropped. That being said, there is still a chance of it happening if it's dropped in just the "right" way, but the circumstances would have to be rather extraordinary.

I think with the 45 ACP round, less is more. I do carry two spare magazines, and the single stack does make it easier to conceal. You have to remember, I carry this every day. I actually have a Glock 20 that I use for home defense along with my Mossberg 590. It really depends on the application.

It might work, but then you could change the dimensions of the barrel by mistake. The tight tolerances might affect the functioning. I would think a light coating of oil or Ballistol would go a long way in preventing rust. Come on down!

I must disagree with you that Kimber sucks. I've owned over 10 1911's, and Kimbers are the best that I've owned. True, it's not a custom house like Wilson Combat or Ed Brown, but that's not what it's meant to be. However, they do hand fit and install parts on their own pistols. When your pistols come standard with many custom features, there's not much more you can do to them anyway.

What round count? I've got over 1200 rounds through it now with ZERO malfunction. I can also hit a torso sized target at 200 yards with it. Believe me, when you start adding up all of the match grade and fitted items, you come out much cheaper. If you are unfamiliar with custom pistol work, then I understand your perspective.

Kimber needed to add trigger guard front checkering. Also disappointed with a solid trigger. on plus side, using the 'scale' serrations on the back strap is tops. I don't believe they employ them on the Raptor. However, don't believe Kimber offers such a back strap and extended flaired mag well as an aftermarket part.
