We are building a shower bench in this video. This shower bench is 18-1/2 inches high and 32 inches wide.
Shower benches don’t only look great in the shower but also make your shower experience comforting and luxurious.
Most of the shower benches have tiles on the top but granite could also be used.

I like the bench but shouldn't it be installed over waterproofing membrane?

The idea around that is to put your wonder board / concrete board around it. Then as you’re laying your pan, you can apply the water proofing to ensure a water tight seal. Putting waterproofing membrane underneath is cheap insurance, but not necessary

Never use plywood in a shower. It will swell and cause the tile to fail. Cementitious backer board is acceptable -- it will soak up water but will not expand or deteriorate. Cement board should be sealed with Redgard or Hydro Ban. Foam board products like Kirdi or Hydro Ban Board are the best choice, as the foam is completely impervious to moisture. I prefer Hydro Ban Board because it's stiffer and the membrane is tougher, but big box stores don't carry it, at least not in my area. I order it online or, in a pinch, drive a couple of hours to a supplier. Also, always use tape on inside corners.

You guys build it right but just skip the most important thing the wood that touches the floor has to be pressure treated wood by code

What code? PT wood warps like crazy when it dries. If you’ve got enough water penetrating that deep you’ve got bigger problems than water on your 2-bys.

Concrete is a porous material; water can be absorbed through capillary action and transferred through concrete. Thus, wood that is in direct contact with exposed concrete must be pressure-treated to withstand the moisture that the concrete can draw in.
