In order to extract all the honey from the frames, you ought to have the top of the frame turned towards you, when the machine is running. -Danish bee keeper
@Gewehrdalf425 жыл бұрын
The Machine spins in both directions so the orientation of the frames should not matter?
@flemming11dk5 жыл бұрын
@@Gewehrdalf42 The honey combs have a slight tilt to prevent the honey from leaking, when standing in the vertical hives. Hence if the orientation is opposite, the honey will be forced into the combs instead of out.

Like the others said the top bars to the outside. The hardest part is spacing the weight of your frames so your unit is balanced. If you start your speed slow and let it run for a few minutes it sometimes moves enough honey that it self balances and then you can increase speed.

Lol “boring episode?!” No way!! I even if it was just “extracting honey” I LOVE videos like that!! I could watch honey extracting and bottling for HOURS!! I LOVE it lol I know this video is old but pleaseeee do more honey extracting and actual bottling videos!! Their sooo fascinating!! To see from start to finish uncapping, extracting, and bottle it’s so fascinating!! Love your channel and your videos! But I love your sense of humor and personality mark! You’re a hoot!!

Frames are in the wrong way, cells are slightly downward so they have to have the top to the out side in order to release the honey it should also be pre warmed to help it flow
@kevinbetts28905 жыл бұрын
I agree with Brent that the frames need to be top of the frame to the outside and also Mark you need to start the extractor on a slow setting like 15 to 20 rotations per minute for the first few minutes then slowly build up the speed from there. Like slowly increasing the speed a little each minute. Once fully up to speed let the extractor run for a full 10 minutes. All the honey should be out of the frames by then. The reason why your wax frames "exploded" was because the frames were still TOO full (heavy) for the speed you were running the extractor. Enjoy your time with the bees.

Bees build cells with an upward incline. Couple that with centrifugal force of the spinning drum and you get honey being slung out of the frames. Turn the frames around backwards and you get blown out comb.

Upside down miss Jane top bars to the outside and manually control the speed every new batch as they will be different balances.. I have a 12 frame Italian made extractor.. I also took the legs off and used ss turn buckles to fit it to a solid stand and it works very well

Another great video guys. If you keep blowing frames out, add some mesh between the bars where your frames go so that it blow holes in your stickies. Had to do this to my chinese ebay 2 frame hand extractor, but in saying this for 1500 bucks you would expect to put frames in and go. Enjoy and keep up the great work.

And people question why (for small backyard amateur beekeepers, at least) the Flow hive and top bar system are so attractive - zero extraction cost and no reliance on machinery are significant if you only have up to ten or a dozen hives. Those fast programmes seem better suited to plastic frames, where the residual weight will always be equal and therefore balanced. I think running it at lower speeds is more appropriate on wax foundation, as there will be more variation in weight.
@justinmills80845 жыл бұрын
Honey Comb is angled up with the top on the inside your force of honey pushing on the hone comb. A plastic foundation would help you so the honey comb would not come apart.

the legs looked loose, when I bought my new 12 fr it needed tightening up and the legs should be braces at the bottom at ground, my extractor is lower and wider 12 frame and does not wobble much even at the high speeds with even an unbalance it has the weight to hold it. When you get honey in the extractor it will be even more stable. That extractor looks narrow in the drum and high, coupled with loose legs is what seems to cause your severe wobble. Thanks for your videos BBM I enjoy them, subbed too

I am not going to blame the operator. The extractor is accelerating too fast - your manual settings are the way to go. The high speeds are for when there is just a tiny bit left in the comb - and that thing was trying to drive off in just a few seconds. Also, that lid latch would be enough to make me want to return it.

simply put, you're not de capping them properly. And that's asking too much of the machine to empty the honey out of still capped hexagons. You might 'like' the unit you're using but it doesn't do the job like the hot knife does.

Out of balance? It's behaving like my washing machine does with an unbalanced load.
@Adamskys5 жыл бұрын
Youre using centrifugal force to extract honey, bees make the cells slightly pointing downwards, your frames are the wrong way that's also why you having blowouts, you're forcing the honey out of the bottom of the cell rather than the top
