Hi Craig, Yes, folding maps is a must. If you are a pilot you need to fold and refold the sectional maps so you can fit them on your knee board. It gets trickier when in a cramped cockpit with heavy turbulance and 100 other things going on and you are flying off the map every 10 minutes! My technique was to prefold the map ahead of time so it is easier to manage later as it is much easier to fold on the creases that are already there. And yes, the FAA suggests replacing the sectionals after every use but at $20USD a pop I just deal with extra creases in my maps! Another great tip! Take care and all the best from California 💛

There is nothing worse than having to refold later on in the rain/high humidity and the map case condensates when the sun comes out. My map lays flat as the sit on my handlebar bag.....

Who cuts maps thats insane, I buy the laminated versions to avoid a map case all together

I've tried the laminated versions but have always found them to be too bulky to fold down to the area I need. I also like to keep map/map case attached to me with a length of cordage.
