They don't. They're positively beautiful, especially how different light (gallery, daylight, etc) transforms the pieces. 😊

The blown glass was breathtaking, what talent. But what i really enjoyed was Glenn's trepidation about stumbling into one of the displays, my head works exactly that way! And that bit about the two women following him around, filming him as he did his KZbin thing. And people wonder why some of us prefer to be alone! 🌵

With the crowds, one can't HELP but feel some fear of breaking the glass. 😅 But for sure, we prefer the solitude found in other areas.

I had the privilege to see the display at night April 9 2022. The gardens and glass complement the nature in a perfect blend of beauty and art. The desert landscape is a garden paradise especially in April with blooming flowers and small cactus.

Agree! I think we were just dumbfounded about how the pieces were transported there and installed! But then to have the vision and talented team at hand to create those pieces in the first place... 🤩

@CactusAtlas2 жыл бұрын
I think for the most part there were lights in the ground aimed up in such a manner to illuminate the glass but it just manages to do it SO well. The crowd was something else & half the time might have been spent waiting to get a chance to shoot the displays. 😅

Thank you! I plan on visiting AZ next week - this is one of the attractions I plan to visit. I'm also looking into 3 hikes - considering Peralta for now. Trying to figure out 2 more for variety... I watched your Tom's Thumb (which lead m to this video)... Glad I watched it. No Shade = Hike much harder! For my second hike: Piestewa Peak vs Camelback. Third = unsure. I'm eyeing Picacho but was told it's extremely difficult.
@CactusAtlas2 жыл бұрын
I have yet to try Picacho, but I have heard the same. Camelback is my favorite (have yet to film it) but I would say that one is more difficult than Piestewa. However, out of all those choices, I think you will be pleased no matter what you choose!

The exhibits are throughout the garden so it's just one ticket.

Well at least your groupie's kept their distance. Did you luck out & actually catch some hummingbirds or were they from another time you went. As for the snobs it's kinda expected at fancy art exhibits. Then again they were probably the ones that didn't get the private showing invitations. You had Great Timing with the sunsetting behind a lot of the pieces. PBS has a few shows on Dale & how he directs others to blow his glass artwork for him. I remember at the end of it he upset a lot of people when he started breaking all the of the pieces in the exhibit because he didn't want anybody to be able to sell any of it & profit from his work. I remember seeing some pieces in a pond & he was throwing other pieces breaking everything. Chihuly screwed up his right shoulder bodysurfing which is why he can't blow glass anymore. Apparently Chihuly has done a few exhibits in Arizona. It's going to be hard to top this one Glenn.
@CactusAtlas2 жыл бұрын
Haha! I unfortunately missed out on Glenn's groupies as we got split up fairly early on in the evening because he was trying to find pockets in between people to film in. Thankfully since I was just shooting b-roll I could go at a slower pace and noticed a couple of people staring into a bush and caught that little hummingbird seen in this video. So when I was reviewing Glenn's footage I chuckled since I knew I had a clip. 😊 There were at least two private events going on that evening (one wedding) so I think that had to do with a lot of the crowd as well. Did NOT know about Chihuly breaking his glass though! There is another exhibit over at Taliesin West right now but yeah, I think the desert environment inspired a few exhibits and can't say it's shocking. They pair really well!
@tpseeker33672 жыл бұрын
Not sure which pbs documentary it was where or when he broke all the glass @@CactusAtlas butt he was determined that Nobody was going to be able to have or get a solid piece. Which is odd cause there's pieces of his art all over the place. Might have been during his lawsuit against one of the people that worked for him
@dougcampbell4402 Жыл бұрын
If he directed it….he did it. You have to have a crew for this kind of thing! It’s far to labor intensive . You’d only be doing small things if you did that. ( I’m an artist and I can tell you that from personal experience).
