My build is very similar, but I'm on 40 cards and I run both ad lib and dramaturge and love them. Playing those along with the patchwork package and cartesia and theater allow you to set up double masquerade pretty often.

Playing Despia Branded actively since the SD came out, really love the deck (so much that people at my locals are like "really he still plays that deck"). Running a similar build and actually also came to the idea to play Mysterion some weeks ago. Also tested with Branded in High Spirits and maybe El Shaddoll Construct and Ishizus but didn't find the sauce for that yet. Find it interesting to cut down a little bit on Bystials and also I need to go more often into set Retribution, I mostly do the classic plays into MJ but that's a really good reminder. I really like playing an Ad Libitum alongside one Red to being able to play around Evenly through the classic line sending Albaz and Tragedy for Branded Fusion. The wide board we're making here is just weak to it. I like Dramaturge, especially going 1st but that's debattable and up to personal preference. Also double Masq is pretty good still...when playing Cartesia the Despian Proskenion is actually worth a look because with Cartesia you only need one Despia and one Dark Monster. At some point I've been playing 2 Cartesia because it is also a good normal summon. Wasn't as bad as it may look like on paper but that'll be much better when PHHY is getting released. The 2 Kitt are really interesting and for how you explained it it makes some sense and I will test that :) I'm really looking forward to the new support cards in PHHY that'll be great!

Springans Kitt is such an underrated card. Just the fact that it can recover your banished Branded cards is a huge boon when Banish strats are at an all time high(even if most of them are focused on monsters).

I been playing despia since it’s release, what I do with my bystial list is run the dragoon package. If you see aluber+ poly you make dragoon, fuse off aluber and Albion for drago. End phase set banishment. You still retain 3 in hand for bystial and crap. Most test players can’t beat dragoon (cus a lot r off of maining super poly) and if they do u can revive off banishment or just use banishment to take their tear names off board without activating their effects

My only suggestion would be to drop one Kitt for a third Magnamhut, I prefer having more Mags because A it's a playable interrupt even if you lose the dice roll, B it's a free +1, and C it can often shut down an engine on its own, depending on the deck. Going second I'd much rather have a 2500 beater + a GY banish than a Kitt that just goes card-for-card in most cases. You can also summon it going second against Floo if they drop D-Shifter first turn to immediately threaten Statue and bait out their normal summon trap. Other than that this deck is almost exactly what I was hoping to use if/when I can afford another Bystial Lubellion playset.

I'm unsure you can make mirrorjade with the same copy of mirrorjade if you don't have two mirrorjade, the effect does say: fusion summon from ED -> by shuffling back monsters from GY field banish or hand.

People sleep on Springans Kitt, my favorite use case is when I have all 2 polys or Edge Imps in hand, returning one back to the deck makes Patchwork live again. Not to mention just upping the amount of 1 card starters to 12 for me which is wayyyyy better than 8-10. Consistency is key

Love despia, another end board I can recc is 2x Masquerade + Dramaturge + Bystial Lubellion (only requires branded fusion or aluber + lubellion or saronir)

What you are saying about mirrorjade is incorrect. It is true that for some effects you only need a legal target at first and then you can summon whatever you want, but this is mostly related to stuff when you are under warlords or similar effects and whatever intents to do the summoning, leaves the field as a cost. For a CORRECT fusion summon, you have to, upon resolution of the effect, choose the monster you are summoning, then send the materials to the gy, or shuffle or whatever you are doing with those materials.

You should try Replacing foolish with Gold Sarc, you double dip on the trag effect and golden sarc can’t get ashed (even tho it’s not really being played anymore) and even if they ash the tragedy after the gold sarc, you’re still getting the tragedy back unless you fuse with it later

Dude I hadn't seen anyone else using Mysterion until this video, and i was like 'yeayuh, big dawg Cali knows what's up.' The bystial lubellion cards are more money than I wud like to spend, so I use more of a despia package, also cuz I like to use proksenion and Drama. I really liked the idea that albaz and DRNM are like a super poly, unless albaz gets impermed of course xD Also am I the only one that runs comedy?

As someone who comes from a theater background, doing plays in my community for a short time i fell in love with this deck right away, but like always what happens to me always without fail my lack of budget puts me way behind like for example i just got the bystials and was only able to get 1 druis and 2 magna while you play them all i could never afford them oh well guess it maybe time to retire playing the deck as me living on disability checks is not cutting it anymore and putting me farther and farther behind the times

I main board three copies of mask change. Nothing better than normal summoning aluber, they go to negate with infinite impermanence, you quick effect mask change, dark law. Discard the tragedy. I also have been playing 3 copies of allure, banishing tragedy or tribraged mercurioir. Another tech I like is branded expulsion in the side board with Ra's no special summon monster.

Unsure if it was mentioned but for anyone who doesn't know but wants to build the deck this deck is insanely cheap. Lubellion is the only expensive card at ~50 bucks a copy at the time of writing and Guardian Chimera is around 25-30 a copy. You can honestly get away with not running Chimera if your good with cards like super poly and droplet and blanking your opponents ability to out grind your first set of fusions. Even better, the more typical 'Branded Despia' builds from this years Nationals are even cheaper if you cannot afford the Bystials. Joshua Schmidt, Chris Lofton, and others have Branded Despia profiles that are proven to be good that can be built now for under 100 dollars (or~150-160 if you add a playset of Forbidden Droplet which is good in most decks and will carry you far). It's clearly not as explosive as Tearlament or Spright nor does it have the control game like Dogmatika Floowandereeze but double Masquerade locking or even the simple Mirrorjade pass w/ two hand traps in hand can still win games if piloted correctly. I think dark ruler, no more is a very good card to put in the main deck but I feel like the deck has so much gas to place through. Several interruptions may be a triple tactics talent could be the staple board breaker so to speak to really push for game and out problematic cards like avermax

Your ruling at 10:50 is not correct, the materials are moved at the same time as the monster being summoned, meaning you cannot make Mirrorjade with Lubellion if it is banished and not in the extra deck.

Don't 100% agree with cutting Ad Lib. I get the reasoning, but it's a super helpful tool that can help us play through stuff like Dimensional Fissure and Macro Cosmos since it works even if it gets banished so I personally wouldn't want to cut it. I do, however, appreciate the Bystial ratios because I already bought 2 Lubellion and I'm a broke bitch and not needing a third means I don't need to break the bank for the rest of the Bystial stuff I still need. (I play on a budget, so I'm slow to get this stuff.)

I put my Branded Despia deck down for a while as I've been playing Scareclaw for a few months now, seeing these new routes feels extremely alien compared to what I'm used to. Is this really better than setting up the more traditional boards with Mirrorjade, and utilizing Ad Libtum to bring back the Mirrorjade for a second banish while summoning Guardian Chimera at the same time? Is it better purely for the current format with Bystials and other GY disruptions being common, or just better regardless of the environment?

So many guys sleep on Branded Retribution! The card is literally amazing and I run one with massive consistency. I run a BEWD rogue so 1st turn board can be Mirrorjade, x2 Jet Dragons and a Masquerade. I was gonna try to squeeze DPE in there (3 MD, 1 ED) but it really slowed it down and generally when it went off cleanly wasn't nearly enough to survive a real deck.

I went tbru the comments and nobody caught this. Cali you’re wrong. You can’t summon the same mirrorjade you shuffled back “on resolution” fusion is like any other mechanic. You have to pre select your fusion target and on resolution, you cannot change that. So you CANNOT play 1 mitrorjade, shuffle it back for a fusion summon and summon the same mirrorjade

Love Despia! And love playing the new Cartessia! (People are sleeping on this pale little goth Mama!😂) Not so sure about this deck list though.. Dramaturge and Ad Lib are key players against most decks in this format. Dramaturge is a free SS 3k beat stick with a negate and Ad Lib helps the deck grind. Taking them out increases consistency yes, but it also severely limits your interactive play which is what Despia does best. The Bystials are strong but I don't think they should be the main focus of any deck (At least not RN) and it bricks harder than Flowandereez. I prefer to play a more Despia focused deck with the Bystials as a small(er) engine. Also taking out Branded opening is making the deck die to Ash or any other 1 negate much quicker. But I like the video and Kitt at 2 is a good extender! Most Despia deck lists are all the same nowadays so this is a refreshing video! And I love the song! Sounds like something King Scarlet could've made!

Branded despia is literally the best archetype ever! Before bystials came out I ran a masquerade turbo and could pretty consistently put out 2 or 3 masquerades in a single turn. My friends hate me now tho ao that's the only downside but hey, who needs friends when you have branded🤷‍♂️

Branded Dark Magician is a consistent Dragoon. Summon Lubellion using dark magician/fallen of albaz and use Lubellion effect to summon Dragoon.

You can also extend that with Branded in Red, return Albaz to hand, banish Albaz and Lubellion to fusion into Mirrorjade and then Lubellion would then resolve and summon Dragoon by returning Dark Magician and a dragon to the deck.
