Pixel to pixel is used to zoom in on resolutions that don't fit the displays pixel resolution. AKA If your source is a 4k video, and the display is 1080p then it will do a 2x zoom and show a 1920x1080 portion of the 4k image to help one ensure the focus is correct.

Great bit of kit! I’ve just bought two of these with extra batteries and right angle HDMI cables (as noted elsewhere) and they perform brilliantly on my Nikon Z9, Z6 and Z30 bodies (with cages). Great value for money 👍🏼🇬🇧

I have an older Viltrox 5" monitor with a built-in hood, lovely piece of kit that has served me well for over 5 years, a very much under-rated brand. Nice looking monitor with a host of features, might just think about upgrading. Also like the anti-twist pin on the monitor mount, nice touch.

Yeah them little details make a big difference to the user experience hey. Nothing worse than your monitor twisting around 🙂

I'm glad I found your video. Most reviews mention the 550 Pro as being the touchscreen version, and the 550 as non-touchscreen. The one you've linked to is the same one I've ordered but it only says it's the 550 and not the Pro. Yours clearly says it's the 550, so I'm hoping I'm getting what you've got.

1,200 nits at this price is a major selling point. I have a Portkeys PT6 and like it especially for its size and weight, but it's extremely difficult to use in direct sunlight even with the hood. This is brighter than even an Atomos Ninja V (1,000 nits).

Based on this video, I've ordered the DC-550 Pro, for my A6700, which is quite a lot more expensive but still very reasonable. Since one of the issues with just using the display of the camera is that it is impossible to see the different menus on a bright day, are you able to see those options/settings on the monitor? I'm a little, okay, more than a little, confused about LUTS. Did you ever do a video explaining them? I've looked but haven't found one. I'm also looking to see if you did a video on customizing the A6700? BTW I bought the A6700 with the 75mm-350MM Zoom and the 35mm F1.8, on the recommendation of a very knowledgeable friend, and I'm glad I did but your videos have been immensely helpful in getting to grips with it. Thank you.

Thank you for a great and thorough walkthrough. I just got mine and I have a question - how easily can you tilt the monitor mount? Mine won't budge and I'm afraid to break it if I apply too much force to it. Even tried removing the screws - still can't tilt. (EDIT: It tilts after all, it's just extremely stiff!) Interestingly the HDMI cables that came with my package are HDMI A to HDMI A (regular to regular) and HDMI A to HDMI C (regular to mini). Maybe Viltrox has listened to reviewers wondering why there's no regular HDMI cable? That change isn't great for me because my Canon EOS R6 Mark II has a micro port.
@TheCameraManReviews8 ай бұрын
Great to hear you got it to move, the HDMI situation is a strange one, they should provide all 3 IMO>
@jgirizarry7 ай бұрын
Same here, the micro HDMI is not on the box, just the other two cables. My Sony a6700 has a micro port. I could move the mount, but I had force it with the screen mounted and on the camera, very stiff.
@TheCameraManReviews7 ай бұрын
@@jgirizarry I would defo send Viltrox an email saying the cable is missing, or email the company where you brought it from. Seems that they are sending some out without the cable and a stiff mount.
@petrituohimaa7 ай бұрын
@jgirizarry@@TheCameraManReviews in my case I ended up buying a SmallRig regular to micro HDMI cable which is thinner and more flexible, so it puts less strain on the micro HDMI port on the camera, especially when using a gimbal. But I also bought a SmallRig monitor mount to be used with a handle and its tilt axis tightening knob gets in the way of the HDMI port on the monitor. 😅 Had to replace the knob with a bolt that's flush with the monitor mount. Not the mount's fault, though. Stiff original mount and HDMI port being too close to the mounting point are minor annoyances compared to the value the monitor offers.
@gigihanmandarin10 ай бұрын
Having the HDMI port at the bottom of the unit seems like a really awkward design choice. Depending on where your camera's hot shoe is located or whether or not you use a cage, the HDMI cable may impinge on something hindering the movement of the mount, or causing extra strain on the cable & port. Most monitors have that port situated at the left of the unit corresponding to the output port of the camera.
@rubenavilapro10 ай бұрын
Actually the HDMI placement is very convenient when you start kitting out your video camera and your dealing with cable management. I have a BMPCC6K with Smallrig cage, a top handle where my lcd screen sits and a HDMI cable sticking out the right side of the screen. The HDMI input of my camera is on the left side of the body so I have the cable sticking out from both ends. Aside from that I have a USB cable connecting from the camera to a SSD, and power cable from the camera to a v-mount battery. Get a hot shoe top handle for your camera and throws this LCD screen on there and you should be square. Also, a side note, Smallrig has a similar "field monitor mount" and they sell it for $29USD.

Just grab a right-angle adapter, that will solve it.
@alanoakley32427 ай бұрын
For around £10 each, I got two coiled HDMI to HDMI cables with right-angle plugs pointing left/right or to the front/rear, making the ports at the bottom actually ideal for me since my stills camera and video camera's HDMI outputs are on opposite sides.

Nobody says how to upload a LUT via SD file (I guess by adding the proper .cube file) ...however there's no option to upload it to the monitor, when you toggle the Custom LUT on nothing happens (the image turns into a weird green thing). Everybody assumes that the feature is there however IT'S NOT POSSIBLE right now with the current firmware (12/21/23), I've written directly to Viltrox customer support with no answer.

I’m not sure if it was just me that received a defective unit, but my experience was a bit awful. The amount of delay on the monitor was very bad. After fiddling around with it and the battery needed to be charged, the monitor became all blue/green ish and lines. I returned it, I was very disappointed since everything else this monitor offers for its price is pretty good.

So being just a monitor, what is the point of making all of these adjustments on the monitor, and then not being able to record them to the camera or monitor? Seems a lot of work..for nothing. I bought one of these monitors, and I kind of feel that I wasted my money not being able to save the adjustments that I made on the monitor. I use my monitor for stills, not video..and it seems a lot of work to make the adjustments to the monitor, and then lose them when I press my shutter. Seems to me it would be better to cut out the middle man..and expense, and just do all of this in Photoshop or Lightroom. Am I missing something? Best wishes..David in the UK.

@@andrew_veale Now, this was not a scientific test at all, but I have 3 friends around and we compared the Viltrox DC550 Vs NinJA V in a blind test. My friends have no idea which cost more or what make these monitors are, the question was, what gave off the most accurate colours and what gave the better image. (Camera was in AWB and we was inside) All 3 of them said they could not decern any difference in colours. I would have to agree, they almost looked identical. But all 3 friends said that the Viltrox monitor gave the better image quality out of the 2. Now this maybe due to their perceived idea of what is a good image, i.e brightness, sharpness etc. I will do further tests in the coming days and might even do a video comparison, if only the Viltrox was a recorder also. 😞
