So having been a Nikon, Fujifilm, and Leica shooter. Both Film and Digital. I'll tell you straight up that Leica is not the highest technological advanced high performance camera available to the prosumer community. In fact Sony's Alpha series ( A7- A9) are the "best" in terms of specs. It's so full of specs and advances, you can operate it like a smart phone camera but get A+++ grade results. Sony is on the road to dominating the Nikon and Canon user base. Having said that, Leica is my preferred choice. I'm confident in my skill set that I can create the same images with any of these camera. The process is just different. is the process worth the cost. For me, yes. The rangefinder format is what I'm most comfortable with, and enjoy the most. Before anyone starts saying "Rangefinders are outdated and inefficient in today's commercial industry", I'll agree with technological advancements it is not the most efficient way to shoot. However, it is still effective and you can still make the photo. I can manual focus faster than some autofocus camera's out there, and so can many other photographers out there. Going back to the process, the way you get to an image may not effect the quality of that particular image, but it is the process of photography and makes a person a better photographer; in which inspires them to continue to shooting. Sony, Canon, and Nikon are amazing companies with amazing performing products. They celebrate and goal themselves on the technological advancements of photography. Leica, Hasselblad, Voigtlander are artisan companies that celebrate the art and heritage of photography which is just as important as the tech side. With that, they offer amazing craftsmanship, quality, and homage to where the art came from. Their products demand more user interaction and thought process. Leica also still manufactures film cameras! Which is amazing! And Fujifilm, well, they are caught somewhere in the middle haha. They are killing off the "film" part of Fujifilm which is a bummer, but the flagship X-Pro2 and XT-2 are clear homages to Japanese cult classic cameras... cough* CONTAX G2 cough* CONTAX RTS cough* In the end, shoot what makes you shoot more!

I have the same with Nikon for digital and Pentax for analog. They're simply the best and when I finally make enough money I will probably award myself with a Leica M3. I borrowed it from a friend and just made me fall in love. The way it feels in the hands is just... divine.

Completely uninterested in this camera, considering I just bough a Sony A9, but "...and I now find myself in this eerie ring of hay-balls, a children's glove, right there, put aside, strangely placed orange pylons and otherwise this quiet desolation, and so now I'm going to permeate it with the sound of this Leica M10 Shutter" is one of the most hilarious sentences I've ever heard. I don't think you get "parallax" at closer distances, just a slight crop. Parallax is corrected all the way you can focus, but focus breathing isn't corrected for so the frame underestimates the image are at infinity and overestimates at shortest distance. Super nice video thanks :)

@Marion Basilio I used to have a M240 and a A7RIII. I loved the ease of use of the Leica. And I didn't like Sony's menues even if it's features were great. I had issues of focus with the Leica... and issues of breakdowns with the Sony. So I sold all my FF gears and currently I only use a GX8 with pleasure. And if I had to change, I won't buy a FF Canon, Nikon, Sony or Leica any more, but probably the G9.

When is your x100f review coming?
@bobhanuman657 жыл бұрын
I'm always amazed at the venom that comes out when Leica is discussed. Leica cameras existed long before hipsters came into existence and will be here long after the term is no longer relevant. If you enjoy shooting without autofocus then borrow or rent a Leica and see if it works for you. Please don't talk about price because there are many who complain about Leica and who have thousands and thousands of dollars of cameras and lenses sitting around that they do not use. If you have a Leica you really only need a decent 35mm lens to achieve fantastic results. But you have to love working with the limitations that this puts on you. You will become a better photographer with limitations rather than with all the technology in the world. But then you can also get great results from a camera that costs $100 if you have the talent.
@nickbedford6 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Most of the greatest photographers of the 20th Century used a Leica camera, a single prime lens and shot "hipster shit" and street/documentary photography. A lot of digital photographers really need to read a few photo books and have their perspective on photography altered.

what explains the very high cost of Leica's products?" -- There is nothing else like it on the market. There are no true all-mechanical rangefinders anymore. If you want one, you have no choice. Also, you do pay for the name. Very good brand management, like Rolex.
