Nathan is an X-shooter but a couple of things about that. Fuji does not require X-Photographers to be exclusive and I'm pretty sure he isn't. Also, if you check out his blog/channel you will see he can be (at times) brutally honest about what he sees as a flaw or issue with Fuji. I find his images a bit stylized and not really useful for showing IQ in general, but he does know his stuff.

7:32 - the guy is taking a street photo of you. Is the high ISO actually better or is FUJI cheating more on ISO than the current 1/2 - 2/3 stops? I also think they need a bigger grip.

After watching the official Fuji videos about the X-Pro 2, this video was VERY much welcome! They don't show off their cameras that well. Nathan's video on their official page was great, just as it was here. Great work, I own te xt-1 pair with 35 1.4 and 23 1.4 and I am anxiously looking forward to the xt2 this June. That pull up ISO switch would be great! Started shooting with 35mm film which is why I jumped onto the xt1 so quickly. Hopefully they add that small feature to it as well.

Thanks for the review. IMHO, the only problem with doing camera reviews before a camera is finalized is that it can make the review irrelevant and also the reviewer unable to truly critique the camera because he/she doesn't know if the concerns will be addressed in the production unit or not. As a result, I recommend not to review cameras until they are finalized. I mean, who wants to know what a camera "might be like?!" I think playing around and understanding a pre-production camera can help you write the script. Then wait till the final product is out and do a quick shoot with the final product.
@TheCameraStoreTV9 жыл бұрын
+RealWorld Endo We'll be doing a short review of the unfinished aspects of the X-Pro 2 when we get a production unit next month. We just felt this camera was exciting enough to warrant an early look, since many of the improvements relate to handling. Also, would you pass up an opportunity to look at a new flagship camera before the announcement day? Jordan @ TCSTV
@AANasseh9 жыл бұрын
+TheCameraStoreTV I understand being first. How about the reverse, doing a short pre-production announcement and a longer production review. That way you'd be first to showcase the camera and build the excitement, announce potential specs; but really not do a review the delivery of those specs until they are finalized in the production unit. I know there are a lot of people on the internet who do pre-production reviews; but I look at you guys at a different caliber and a trustworthy source. That's why the recommendation. Keep up the good work! :)

I will own this camera. It is everything that I want. I love using fully mechanical cameras so, just the body style with dials for all of the major settings in the places they are alone make this camera a must own. Fujifilm has been doing amazing things lately with their sensors. The only negative of this camera for me at least is the mediocre video performance but, I know that just raw image quality does not make the shot so for the little amount that I shoot video I will just have to work a little harder. The image quality in good and bad lighting that fuji has been pulling off is just absolutely beautiful.

Electronic viewfinders no matter how good they are after some time they are tiring to the eye. Especially with sport photographers who use the viewfinder constantly. Optical viewfinders will be always more relaxing to the eye. I don't understand why Sony and Fuji don't make both slots equally fast. How difficult it is? Why the beep at 6:35? Does KZbin is censoring the videos?

One reason Fuji _should_ go all-in with video features is to sell more lenses. I'd love to be able to use their lenses, but without great video, there's no point to buying into the Fuji system. If I could use their lenses on my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, I absolutely would; Fuji knows their shit when it comes to lenses.

Do you recommend investing into the new X Pro 2? I want to switch from my Nikon d7000 to the fuji system because I worked a lot with analog nikon fes lately and loved the compactness. Buying the fuji X pro 1 with the 16-55 2.8 results in paying 1500 euros here in germany. Investing in the x pro 2 results doubling the price.... I would have bought the X-TI but I hated the EVF lag while autofocusing... So maybe I would use the OVF most of the time. Does the X Pro 1 still deliver?

Picked a clean one on Offerup for $700. For me it's the Goldilocks of the X-Pro line. The Pro1 was ancient and the Pro3 was just weird. This one feels way more solid than the 3 (got one used for $1100 and sold it after I acquired the 2), I appreciate the weather sealing and I don't mind the non-articulating screen. To me it's 90% of what a 3 is but at a much reduced cost. It is currently my go-to body for street and portraiture.

Fujifilm X-Pro is very good compact, but it has still common sensor (however without low-pass filter and with unique anti-moiré system of sensor "pixels" layout). great show as always - I find it interesting how much hype the original Xpro and X100 got - and of course because of that I had to get the X100 - yes the images where nice and lens was good - but it was absolutely the worst focusing camera I have ever owned ! - I was able to play with the XPRO for some time and it was the same - I eventually got the X100s and yes it was an improvement as far as focus - but I found that I like the images better in the X100 - my X20 just blows the X100 focus away :) So for me yes I like the Fuji colors and image but really get frustrated with my Fujis - Xt1 and X100 and X100s and X20 - great lenses but no IS on primes so a real bummer - of course lenses are a bit heavier then that of M43 - I love Touch LCD and Touch Shutter - and of course Fuji will never implement Touch LCD or Touch Shutter - Yes the Xt1 and Xpro 2 will have a bit better IQ then that of the Panasonic GX8 due to larger sensor - but I just cant compare the joy of using the GX8 over the Fujis - but of course it is all a persona preference - Wish Fuji would implement IBIS - but that will not happen either - GX8 has a great contrasty BW as well :) - so does Sony A6000 and A7's - Yes in perfect light and shooting a still model the XPro1 was manageable - but to me horrible for street shooting and anything that moved and just struggled so bad with low light focus etc etc - I have a feeling that those who are Purists and like retro styling will adore and love what ever Fuji will come out with - and regardless of performance - as to me the X100 showed, touted to be this awesome camera - but in reality yes great looking and yes had both Optical and EVF with most just using the EVF but so many down sides - but still remains a legend - while other cameras will just not get a fraction of the recognition but are better

I'm reading this comment in 2022. And now there's this trend of coming back to basics, so the Xpro1 is a sought out camera. I'm currently using manual lenses on my Xpro1 for street photography. I just use the OVF and the sunny16 rule minus one stop on the lens aperture or exposure time for metering (as it is a crop sensor camera). I also have a Sony A7C for fast action, but I enjoy shooting with the Xpro1 more and its color science is so much more pleasing than Sony's. As you may know by now Fuji did include IBIS in a couple of cameras and also a flippy screen.

Hey Jordan, I've read a quick hands-on article from a video guy saying that the video on this Fuji is much better than any previous Fuji and with some serious improvements, were you able to test it? It would be nice if this is true, hopefully you will be able to test it in the full-production model review. He also talked about how the video improvements with Fuji's colour can possibly turn this into a nice video camera - the X-PRO2 is certainly not about video but I think you can understand the potential of this, right? If this is true, knowing that the sensor and processing is capable of 4K, this becomes a very interesting thing to expect from the X-T2. Pairing nice video quality with Fuji's colour would be nice, even more when you take into account Fuji's Kaizen, meaning that if Fuji starts to attract more video guys they will certainly invest more on it and with Fuji's care, this has such a nice potential.
@TheCameraStoreTV9 жыл бұрын

TheCameraStoreTV Possibly since I think he just tested it on the store. I downloaded the files, it certainly looks sharper, but having no other Fuji footage to compare to and with such limited footage, I don't really know how much better it's or how does it compare to cameras like the A6000, which is also a mirrorless APS-C with good video. I always wanted to combine Fuji and Panasonic into a single camera, if Fuji can really start to deliver better video, this can be very interesting. Kaizen and video all the way FTW. Thanks for the reply, I'm looking forward for a further review.
