That was a fun video Lefty is very vocal so funny to watch, always puts a smile on my face. I am so impressed with the mannerisms of the dogs, so well behaved to the point of not taking the toy she wanted but walked away when told no. The four dogs no jealously when we know they get a lot love, attention, from their owners. Wow very impressed.

My Chevy has the same oil filter configuration. I slide a plastic bag around the filter before cracking it open. The oil and filter are contained in the bag making the operation spill free.😊

HINT: When changing the oil filter use an ice pick or similar tool to jab a hole in the bottom of the oil filter and let it drain into your catch can before you remove the filter. that will stop the messy hands and spill.

Hey Dave and Lefty, I changed the oil in my 1994 Chevy Silverado 4x4 just before winter. It has a crate engine in it because when I bought it from the dealer didn't know it had two bad cylinders. I took one of my son's cars to him in Kansas and the two plugs would foul and about every 100 miles I had to pull them and clean off the oil. That started in Colorado and had 600 miles to go. My other son in Oklahoma helped me put the new crate engine in it in 2012. Drove back to Washington. I use 15w40 in the truck. The guys at the shop do racing engines and rebuilds and the commerial oil they said was crap. 15w40 in the engine it would outlast me. Never had any issues with the engine. It has the 350/5.7L Take care and as always "Enjoy The Adventure." 🤠👍✌

I saw a post on facebook the other day. the person was changing their oil and after they loosened the oil filter a little bit they placed a plastic cup over it and unscrewed it the rest of the way. The cup caught the oil that came out...no mess.

hello David, been watching your videos for a while. Next time you do an oil change on your truck, get a large solo cup, loosen the filter with the wrench put the solo cup around the filter from the bottom unscrew it the rest of the way by hand all the oil and filter should be in the cup no mess. Once I get the filter to start turning, before the oil comes out I just put a couple of clear grocery-store vegetable bags over the filter to catch it all, while I can still see when and where the oil is coming out into the bag. Any other way, you need your arm to not be at an angle where oil heads from your glove to your arm, which is easier said than done on many vehicles. In a way, I prefer having a horizontal oil filter, just spin it a little and let it all run out while still attached.

Question do you put any oil in your filter before you install it on your engine so as to not have oil in it to pump through ? Always heard if it is possible to fill your oil filter with some oil. If possible it's better for lubricating your engine

Yes, the filter for this engine holds about 1.75 qts :)
