Another great episode. Thank you for sharing your experiences, I am wondering if at the end of the breeding season if we were to share images of our canaries if you could possibly advise on what you would be looking at to improve the birds ? I suppose in the view of a judge ? Many Thanks

@TheCanaryRoom4 жыл бұрын
thanks for the kind words, you can take hime out - but if he's helping feed the young and not bothering the hen you can also leave him in!

What is the very best cage for a canary? Please help.
@TheCanaryRoom3 жыл бұрын
As big as possible, if it’s a pet bird make sure the perches are spaced at the furthest distance to encourage it to exercise and avoid over cluttering the cage with toys

Hi I need to ask I have few pairs some pairs they kill there chicks like this they feed few chicks and few not what should I do should I feed them by hand kindly inform me thanks
@TheCanaryRoom4 жыл бұрын
It's difficult, but not impossible, to hand rear chicks. Do you leave the cock bird in the cage? it maybe that he is being overly aggressive. it could also be that the chicks aren't viable and have some underlying health issues - the adult birds will pick up on this, often before it's clear anything is visually wrong. Best of luck!

hello dear, you feed live food to your canaries?
@TheCanaryRoom4 жыл бұрын
I don't. I have offered them in the past and one or two of them will eat them but the majority aren't interested. I do offer plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables to the canaries though

hello Matt, in a previous season I saw how you glued your nest mats do you still do that and especially how do you loosen them again greetings bruno
@TheCanaryRoom4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, yes I still do use the pva glue. I find, particularly with the plastic nest pans, that the felts come out quite easily. The terracotta ones are slightly different. So I soak them in disinfectant for 24 hours and everything comes off! best of luck.

How did your cinnamon youngsters turn out? You mention you were aiming to add a win in the cinnamon's..... SO... if 2020 show season had been a normal one, rather than all show cancellations, WHAT would you have achieved, in your opinion?
@TheCanaryRoom4 жыл бұрын
Couple of nice visual youngsters but the none visual were of better quality, a buff hen I had would have done well I think 🤔

Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it! There's a couple i've use in the past, the first is S76 the second is ivermectin - but be sure to get the cage bird strength. Best of luck!
