Alot of shops wouldn't even fix the seat, they would just replace it which would be more expensive. You could have done the same but instead decided to help the customer out and save them some money. Careful out there people every mechanic is not going to be willing to help you out like this.

Seat work is tough. First we don’t see enough problems to get good at it. Second taking seat out is a pain. Third. Being good under the hood doesn’t necessarily make us good under the seat cushion.

Just use a small folding stepladder if you need to access the roof. Much more stable and safe than climbing on the seat or the tire. Plus when you fold them up they are long and thin and are easily placed in the rear cargo area.

These seats also tend to develop a high pitched squeak/chirp over time. Nice to get a look inside to see target locations for lubrication. This is a job for a bike mechanic.

Thanks! Our 2008 Sienna (8-passenger LE) has fold and flip second seats, and uses tether straps to hold them up, so probably use the same mechanism. I *never* stand on those seats, probably because I’m 5’ 10”. I just found your channel recently, and I own three Toyotas now (just got a 2012 Prius for my youngest daughter). I find your videos invaluable. Merry Christmas, and God bless you and keep you!

Delicate is spot on. The previous owner somehow managed to put the left middle seat on the right side and vice versa on a 2015 Sienna. In the process it bent the anchor mechanism that attaches to the floor traveler anchor. I got the seats switched back but when I tried removing the seat it wouldn’t release from the anchor. Spent hours tracking down the plastic trim tabs in order to see the mechanism. It was bent and I was able to bend it back to the original location with my bare hands. I decided not to get a new latch since it may have been made of the same material. As long as I lift it straight up instead of twisting it it’s been working. Would have been nice to remove the trim and see early on why it was hanging up.

It's easy to slip off a tire, especially if it's wet. Consider getting one of those steps that hooks over the tire. Takes very little space to store compared to a ladder and is super useful when servicing underhood items like sparkplugs, etc

Indeed a bad Idea to step on a seat for the reasons stated and because the bolster might bust at the seam, just rip it wide open, can also cause creases in leather. Always a good day to see TCCN and on Christmas Day too!
@chrisw45622 күн бұрын
Great find! It could be someone stood on there, but it could also be a heavier person sitting there regularly. When you slide out of the seat, a lot of pressure goes onto that edge, which could have the same effect over time.

2019 Sequoia 3rd seat switches stopped working in the lowered position. Ironically, the recline switch (separate from other) raises and lowers the back (drivers side). I went to the dealer and purchased a new switch (1 of 2 but the same) in hopes that would work but to no avail - "throw parts at the problem" lol. My fear if the recline switch stops working I won't be able to move the seat back and I like changing from cargo space to people hauler. Dealer Parts guy said to bring it in, reluctantly I think I will, as it may be a programming issue. 1st choice would be take it to the CCN shop but NY to Chicago is too far to drive - although noticed the 470 is from NY. I hope to stop by next summer to meet you as a loyal subscriber and don't miss many of your videos after we retire and tour the country - the reason for the Sequoia, wonderful ride. Thank you for all the helpful tips for us Toyota Owners (bought the Sequoia from your videos). Happy Holidays to you and your families (home and work). God Bless

Same 2 row layout on our 2006 Sequoia ltd. Next time I will avoid stepping on the weak spot (lol). I use A shape ladder anyway, hand washing the roof.Increasing the aspect ratio tire size added 1 in. to the overall height, so the safest way is to use a ladder. Our Sienna is much practical in many aspects.

One thing the 4Runner has on the Land Cruiser/lx and gx is that the 2nd row folds flat for camping or hauling stuff. 3rd row in the gx and lc they constantly for years always bet on people spending substantial amounts of time in the 3rd row which nearly no one does because of lack of space, hence as to why the 2nd row seats fold toward the front of the car, for easy 3rd row access. Evidence of that is the 100 series having the rear climate controls on the ceiling on the driver’s side

Grab handles on my ES350 2009 came all broken when I bought the car recently. I bought the one missing from AliExpress, got it leather wrapped and installed on the most used side. For the rest 3 I patched all the broken parts with superglue and installed them back just to fill the space but never pull on them hard. 😃 They can endure when I hang some clothes on them which fulfills my purpose.✌🏽 I so wanted to ship GROM for my car if it had the screen but unfortunately it’s Basic so there is no point. I’d rather go for Chinese screen with Apple Car Play.
