Thanks for this video. I was in doubt. My wife commutes at least 200km a day, and soon she will need a new car. She currently has a 2017 Opel Astra K diesel with over 400,000km. It still runs well, of course with proper maintenance and a few components replaced. I was thinking about a hybrid car, but after listening to you, I think I'd better give her my car for commuting, a 2019 Honda Civic Gen X, 1.5l engine, 183hp, and I'll get a hybrid for myself, who drive mostly in the city. It will be a Honda, it will be a Toyota, I don't know yet.

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry that has been blowing some blue smoke at startup. I heard you have to remove the head which is really tough in that 2.4 liter. Your professional opinions? I think I'm using about a pint and a half a thousand miles.

Re what oil dealers use. When I saw your RAV4 hybrid review where you spoke about the special oil needed, this is the first thought I had, will the dealer bother to use the right spec?!

I drove a 5VZ, the 3.4 (used from about '94-'04) from Washington State to deep, dark, down-south Mexico and back at about 140K. The oil level didn't change to a noticeable level. It was around a 7000 mile trip and it needed an oil change before that. Toyota TOYota TOYOTA TOYOTA!!! A 3.4 making 'only' 190 HP in a 2004 model. The tradeoff is worth it. It was fast too, steering was better than most sedans(4-door PreRunner Tacomas weigh about 3400 lbs, as opposed to 4300; 900 lbs is a huge difference- it probably weighed WAY than 4300 with 5 Mexicans and ALL our luggage- still got close to 19 mpg.). 14,000 miles and the no oil needed to be added to keep it 'above the mark'. These might be better. I hate shooting myself in the foot by making this comment. I don't have one, I want one (again). The best.

I am horrified by everything that needs to be disassembled to access the battery. No wonder it costs a fortune to replace it in addition to the exorbitant price of the battery itself.

I visited a Toyota dealership just to look at vehicles cuz I liked Toyota's older vehicles and wanted to look at the new ones. I told a girl that approached me I am not wanting to buy just want to freely look but she told me to go to her desk anyway I told her I don't have a credit card, she didn't care then talked why I could get a car and she basically said that there was no point in me being there. So I left disgruntled. Went to Honda, guy came up asked if I needed anything I said no, browsed for 10 minutes then asked and he wasn't pushy or rude. Honda is #1

I have been a videographer for over 25 years. Losing one's footage is so heartbreaking. It's happened to me, fortunately, only 2-3 times. Actually, perhaps 4 times. I just remembered that I also misplaced a 35mm film from my still camera. Probably some of the most inspired photos that I have ever taken; Alas, an offering to the art muses. That's the dud factor in effect. I was wondering, though, what happened to episode three. You almost need at least two backups -- one SD card and an external recorder. Still, though, there's the human factor. The good news is your channel is still friggin awesome and your video quality and videographer is top notch.

I have a 2003. It's got less than 188,000 miles on it. I know what to look for now, thank you. I paid about $6,000 for the car less than four years ago. I probably paid way too much for it. The body needs some serious work, body work and some paint, but the car, mechanically, up to now, has been a gem. The engine runs well, the transmission is smooth. I had to replace the rear sway bars, the JBL subwoofer (and I also replaced the head unit) and the wiper motor. I really wish I had the money to send you this car and let you work your magic on it. Even if I spent another six grand on the car, it may very well be cheaper than spending what I would have to spend for a lower mileage replacement Avalon (used, of course) and get a lot of mileage out of it. But, you're in Illinois, I'm in Washington State, and I'm also just on Social Security, so don't have the funds to do it. But, if I did, I think I would. 😊 I've been watching a lot of your videos lately, even subscribed, and you're the kind of mechanic I want working on my vehicles. Your videos should be shown in every auto mechanic trade school to show the quality of workmanship that SHOULD be put into a vehicle.

More car makers are adding an overkill of Model badging and monograms in more than one location? I japan I noticed gift boxes being elaborate works of form and function; instead of a simple gift box, they go overboard on the packaging and looks like new vehicles such as Hyundai, have the “H” monogramed, such as reconfigured tail lamps with blocks that form an “H”? Fenders are plastic and the first place that rusts are fenders. The flat black plastic fenders may be easier to clean without worries about scratching a polished finish. Stones hit the plastic and scratches would be more likely to scratch a reflective finish. Gaps are noticeable to mechanics. Most consumers overlook such things unless un even. The front of the car ‘s lack of sportyness seems attractive to me? The type of engine air filterbothered me being much smaller? And hard to order through Toyota? Keep sending the wrong size?

I almost always have the AC running, but when it's really cold, the air outside already has very little moisture since it's so cold, so using the fresh intake function on the HVAC and running the cold outside air over the heater core will also dehumidify the air just as well

Okay, as an electronics tech (I used to be, anyway), intermittent issues are hard to diagnose. You could replace multiple parts multiple times and never come up with the issue. So, in this particular case, and I am not a DIYer nor an auto mechanic, I would be looking at grounds. The places where the wires attach to the chassis for electrical return to the battery. But, that's a guess, nothing more. Corrosion on the terminals or wires attached to the chassis MIGHT cause this. A loose ground connection might cause this. I'm less than 3 minutes into the video and will now go back and watch the rest of the video to see what you come up with. EDIT So, I watched the video. CANBus was something I never had to deal with when I took shop back in high school, decades ago. The electrical systems on cars back in the 60s and 70s was prehistoric compared to today. But, I was close, it was something shorted to ground and I bet there was something snapped inside the wheel position sensor. Thanks for a great video.

In searching for a vehicle, I pulled the oil cap of each one. All cars, except one, had plenty of pressure escaping out of the oil fill opening. I came across a Lexus LS 460 AWD, zero pressure escaping! At 163,000 miles, I purchased it.
