@@gregj3369 I happen to like the rear end, reminds me of the previous gen AMG C series. That said, Acura really didn't differentiate this enough from the Civic. Honda really needs to get their heads out their arses, and make it RWD. Unless mazda beats them to it, by putting their new inline 6 in an RWD manual mazda 6. That would be a legendary car.

@@siinxkj Looks great to me. Honda is all about that FWD packaging efficiency, and it scales well. To a point. I happen to own the third generation of the TL (6 speed manual). @@summushieremiasclarkson4700 I havent heard anything about understeer for that tl, lots of people like it but I have no idea why. the sound system is great but there are common mechanical issues with it the v6 right? I own the 06 1st gen tsx 6mt and 5at (yes, both) which is like the little sister to the 3rd gen tl, I can say that I dont really feel much to any understeer on that beast. its really luxurious and sporty at the same time.

I own one and here is what I don’t like about it 1) no memory seats 2) no passenger power seats 3) no rear ac vents or usb ports 4) very small fuel tank. If you are not driving spiritedly you will be lucky to get 250 miles on a full tank. 5) apple car play is laggy. But what makes all of the above comprisable are 1) the engine and transmission are just a blast. You just want to keep driving. This is my daily driver. 2) the car is really good looking and reasonably comfortable in comfort mode 3) the sound system is pretty good 4) it’s a Honda, so will be reliable and retain value better than the Germans. 5) pretty much shares all components with CTR, easy to get mods, if you want.

How would you rate the highway driving comfort, would you hate the idea of a 5 hour road trip at 70-80 MPH ?
@kvpillai
@kvpillai 4 ай бұрын
@@TheKPABA the suspension is quite comfortable in comfort mode, plus it comes standard with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and collision warning. In sixth gear the RPM is 3000 at 80MPH, so you will hear the engine a bit, but it’s a good sound if you ask me. The stock 265 Michelins are definitely noisier than my all season 245 Continentals. The ELS sound system will easily drown any residual road noise. Having said all of that I would absolutely take it on a road trip of any length. To be honest, you don’t buy this car primarily for its comfort. But it is quite comfortable nonetheless.

This is a beautiful car. The ultimate I would want being older, if I was still a diehard enthusiast, that the time, money, energy, and good place to keep it. I would spend $60K if I had no complaints if I had the money to buy this with all the factory accessories I wanted, plus tint the windows and add a front strut tower brace. I don't think there would be very much else I would do other than keep it properly maintained, care for the exterior and interior and enjoy it. But in all practical purposes, I don't have time for that, or a good place to keep it. An A-Spec Technology Package, same color and interior would be more practical for me, still have the EKS stereo I would want and be almost as good for what I need at $40K with all the OEM accessories I would want. Or even a Boost Blue Pearl or Sonic Grey Pearl Civic Sport Touring Hatchback which is almost as nice as the A Spec Technology Package. Great technical review that like the others that give insight whether the vehicle in question is worth buying, or not.

I had a new black 88 Integra LS to drive when I was 16 in high school. I was the only kid with an Acura at that time. The pop up headlights. The4 valve per cylinder engines were the latest thing for power. GM had their quad 4 engines at the time. It had 118 HP from a 1.6 liter. Remember at that time a 5.0 V8 Mustang GT had 225 HP. Now, my Kia Optima SX with 2.0 Turbo 4 cylinder puts out 245 HP and 265 torque. Getting 100 HP per liter back then was considered a huge accomplishment. I like this Integra but I would only buy it if it had a nicely tuned 6 or 7 auto or DCT with paddle shifters. imo, 10 speed transmissions are really dumb. You are only traveling from 0 to 80 mph. Having 10 gears is unnecessary, and to paddle shift that many gears is ridiculous.

Otherwise the car itself is fantastic. Also since I am a single father of 2, I need a bit more room. I wish I made a bit more money, then I would keep it and just get a 2nd car. But that is the complication of being a single parent. So I'm looking into getting either the Integra Aspec 6spd or the Civic SI. Just not looking forward to payments again. Lol

Amazing technical review. Your channel provides technical insights that no other channel brings, not even Savagegeese. The fact that the dual axis front suspension has bolted ball joints is especially important from a future maintenance perspective. Fun fact: the engine is the K20C8 in the ITS purely to distinguish it from the K20C1 in the CTR. 1) What winter tyres can one fit on this car? On the same wheels or are there steel wheels available? 2) Can a space saver spare tire be carried in the wheel well? 3) The placement of the turbo and exhaust waste gate look very serviceable which is important to me 4) Has the K20C1/8 had any significant reliability issues? Timing chain guide issues?

If you care about a softer ride, you can just throw the suspension module from the Type-S on the Type-R. Same thing with the exhaust, you can delete one resonator, and it's basically the same exhaust. Same thing for tune, you can retune the Type-R with the Type-S tune (or better). Even if they were the same price I'd still take the FL5 Type-R...cause it's much easier to turn aspects of the Type-R into a Type-S, but with the added benefits of it still being a Type-R (made in Japan, better seats, more exclusive, more special, Log-R software, better adjustability, shift lights, etc.).

Even with the front wheel drive Acura found a way to make the handling outstanding. TCCN is right on as the price was right around $20,000 which was not expensive. This Integra Type S at $52000 to $55,000 is laughable. I get TCCN's point about how well everything is engineered on this car. However the old Integra was well engineered with a Naturally Aspirated 4 cylinder high reving ( 8000 rpm Red Line ) / light weight / with the quality priced for anybody. It was easy to maintain & the performance didn't disappoint. Who is willing to pay $57,000 that car out the door ?

I’ve seen a lot of discussion (read complaining) over the price of the Type S. I think whether it’s a good value or not is debatable and depends on what you value. But…when I see comparisons to what you could get for the money back in the day, I have to call BS. In all these comparisons, people seem to be directly comparing “Back-In-The-Day” dollars with Now-Year-Dollars, neglecting the role of CPI. For instance: a 1997 Integra Type R had a starting list price of 23,100. According to the BLS CPI calculator, $23,100 in 1997 dollars is now equivalent to approximately $45,000. That’s not less than half the price of the Integra Tye S - not even remotely close. And, that doesn’t include the fact that the Type S benefits from 25+ years of engineering advancements over the original Type R, to include things like adaptive damping, safety features, tech integration (you might have gotten a CD player?), 123 additional HP. Oh, and to even get A/C in the 1997 Type R, you had to fork over an additional $800 (in 1997 $) for a dealer installed option! So, to claim that cars like this were cheap back then is not understanding how the value of money changes over time, and is not productive in thinking about what we’re actually getting for the money now.

Same here. I've been called past Friday to see my new liquid carbon ITS 2024 at the dealer. MSRP too. It was supposed to be delivered end of summer, now I'm waiting for the accessories to be installed and all the goodies I decided to put on. I expect them to call me maybe next week to come pick it up, I AM HYPED. 😆

This is an absolutely beautiful vehicle... and so well made! In my youth I owned and drove a manual Honda Accord EX-R (super fun and super reliable) and I'm afraid if I test test drive the new Integra Type S at my local dealer, I'll walk out of the dealership $60k poorer.

It’s not a small cute transmission” 😂. A mechanic’s point of view is priceless when it comes to how manufacturers design their vehicles and how future owners know what to expect. Especially drivers like me who couldn’t even do a simple oil change 😂.

I’m glad to hear a mechanic’s perspective on a car. Most reviewers aren’t thorough at all in their review and don’t conduct a thorough walk through and explain why it’s designed the way it’s designed. If only you could get an engineer’s perspective perhaps they can further explain its design.

I had one of these on order. For this much money, something didn't feel right so I cancelled. I have always loved Honda products though. But a few weeks ago I bought a new Subaru WRX. It's 95% of the type-S performance, adds all wheel drive, and I've got $20k in my pocket. Great review, thank you.

This car post better metrics than the WRX. Better 0-60 despite being FWD, quarter mile, braking, road holding, agility, etc. You need to forfeit the warranty and mod it to get closer. This is a fact.

Lets hope so for 20k more than a WRX.Most people would need to get a loan buying an over 50k car.Just can't wrap my head around the fact that your paying interest on an item that depreciates. Poor money sense, but if you can get something that comes close and save 20k.Im 70 and have been retired since I was 50, so what the hell do I know..

Awesome video, super informative however, I feel like one of the most important things was left out…the paint quality. I bought a 2022 Civic SI and 1500 miles later, the paint started chipping. I only drove it in the highway the day I purchased. I was super disappointed and sold the car. Will the integra face the same issue?

After watching a bunch of these I have a whole new appreciation for Honda/Acura. Everything is clean, organized and well built. Far cry from many of the other manufacturers which look great on the interior but in the engine bay and under the car the lack of attention to detail and build quality is very poor comparatively.

Another great review, goes through the technical and mechanicals of a car, and not the obvious "look the headlights and how they slope, look at the 22" rims"...duh, anyone can see that review. I always wondered about the open rear bumper and if it causes any drag or not. They could've put some function vents in the rear bumper to let any air out...assuming any gets trapped in there. OK - rear bumper talk was for the FL5 CTR. The Integra could probably use rear vent or a functional diffusor. Also, wish Acura did the same to the rear as they did the front...unique stamped panels and molded bumper instead of stick-ons.

Hi AMD, do you have a shortlist of car models to look for, that fits the following criteria: 1. SUV (Compact) (I live in an area that has snow 4-5 months a year) 2. DIY Friendly (Tire changes, Oil Changes, Filters, Brakepads) 3. Luxuy (ish) 4. Very Reliable 5. Fuel Efficient (atleast Hybrid) 6. Fun to drive So far: I have listed: 1. Toyota Venza 2. Honda CRV Hybrid Limited 3. Mazda CX-90 PHEV

I wonder if you could comment on the Type S turbo 6 cyl. I’m switching from German cars to Japanese … for reliability and headache less life. My first experience with Honda was back in the 1980s when my VW Scirocco was in the shop and a relative le t me his manual 1983 Honda accord … I was so shocked how smooth the gearshift was and how peeps that car was ..and it was already 6-8 yrs old .. since then Honda has had a special place in my heart .. i was also lent a Honda CRX 2 seater. my next experience that opened my eyes was how reliable my mothers Toyota 4Runner has been and its 2001 model with 90000 miles..
