If you want it to go REAL crazy, you need to block off part of the inner ring (the area between the blades) in a pattern that matches the amount of blades there are (or half if you have an even number of blades) and only allowing 50% of the area being open. This basically turns the housing into an air raid siren, BUT IT WON'T SOUND LIKE ONE because it operates at roughly 5 to 40 times the RPM of an air raid siren. It'll just be a really loud screaming whistle. Well, hypothetically speaking, of course, since nobody's ever done it this proportional way before. Also, if you want the OTHER turbo sounds, you need to add a dose pipe and delete, disable, or delay the BOV with a vacuum control valve. There's a guy with a Subie wagon who did this for both flutter and bov sounds at the same time. Anyway, the dose pipe (which is just any metal intake piping between the compressor and filter or guard) should be at least 3x the inlet diameter long, with at least 2/3 of that before any bends in the pipe, and at least 1x the inlet diameter in length AFTER any bends, otherwise the dose will be gone. A dose pipe is the difference between having a basic air flutter sound that most American builds have and the PROPER stututu sound that everyone likes from those stereotypical supra and skyline videos.

What I've done that will (hopefully) give be both yet was pretty easy is make a restrictive nozzle on the vent to atmosphere w/ 3d printing. From 0.75" down to .4" (its 660cc so thats why the sizes are so small lol). I'm hoping it'll flutter on high boost, yet not cause very much more wear than stock for low boost driving.

its not actually the anti surge housing that makes that sound but it is the different siyes of the cutouts for air pass thrugh and the modified inlet. one thing that will give a similar result is drilling a small a few mm deep hole with a diameter of 6-8mm on the volute of the comprressor housing where the blades pass that hole and that will give the same sound. i also have made a video on that and shown how its done.

Not sure if you still have hood insulation, but if you do, remove it to create more & amplified reflective sound waves! If you have underhood clearance, make a solid flat aluminum panel & attach it to the underhood structural cross braces. The panal should be rigid & thick enough not to rattle. A diamond-plate panal would look cool...! Aluminum has unique way of resonating sound, especially with a full aluminum exhaust.

When I did the build on my RB30, I didn't realize that the 9174 would be too small for the motor as the increased stroke and ported head can support more air volume. Back when I started the build (2015), I was among one of the first to not only build a Skyline here in the US, but it also being RB30. Now, there is a lot more data and support. Is the surge ports used when a BOV is used, the BOV prevent air buildup when going off throttle, so there might be no air to go backwards through the surge ports. Try tightening the BOV spring so that it opens later and less if you want the stu stu stu sound, the surge ports should prevent the turbo from massively slowing down.

Nice video!. What i noticed over the years is that you get crazy surge sounds (the good turbo surge everyone likes) from aluminium intakes. For some reason the aluminium echos and amplifies sound very well. Alot better then stainless even (i went back to aluminium after a while). I think this is where the majority of your sound comes from. Your new housing is an anti surge housing created to reduce sound. Get rid of the BOV and weld shut the anti surge part of the housing will be even more crazy (wouldnt advise welding the housing though). Especially with that new aluminium intake. I also think a foam style airfilter (which filters less then KN cloth style) might increase sound even more. (i have a pipercross have always had pipercross) on a GT2860RS.
