@margaretthemagnificent
@margaretthemagnificent 3 жыл бұрын
“No body, no crime” isn’t as simple as it sounds. Some organ (even just cells) of the victim must be found that they couldn’t live without; ie, heart, brain, etc. If enough has been spilled, blood counts as an invaluable bodily organ. Sounds like a sizable amount of blood was lost. That’s enough to get a trial going.
@margaretthemagnificent
@margaretthemagnificent 3 жыл бұрын
There’s a Forensic Files where they charge murder by pouring blood into a piece of carpet to match the crime scene puddle. They achieve the same-sized puddle after pouring a quart.

As I understand it, the body in this phrase refers to the body of evidence. It means there must be sufficient evidence the crime actually occurred and has no relation to bodies or body parts at all. Iirc this is explained in another video on this channel, a quick google indeed confirms this ;)
@grimtt
@grimtt 3 жыл бұрын

@@grimtt I'd say they definitely had enough evidence on this one. Unfortunately it was also around Christmas time, the investigators didn't want to drop their holiday and the two precincts were way too busy squabbling over jurisdiction to actually solve the thing regardless. A complete moron and manipulative bitch JR Vaughan is, but leaving the car in a separate jurisdiction from the one in which he actually committed the crime was a surprisingly smart move for him.
@StonedtotheBones13

@@kitalalaris I'm not sure that was a conscious move tbh. At least it didn't start off that way. Patty's boss is the one that spotted it, where it was on the way to her work. I think maybe whoever staged it was trying to imply she was going there. Allegedly

They must be in denial. It seems like all societies put parents on a pedestal: that your life is in order and is more respectable if you have a good relationship with them, especially with biological parents. I am positing that that is why most people try so hard to- and sacrifice a lot to- maintain a good relationship with their parents, at least performatively. I am guessing it must be a lot easier to maintain a good relationship with the family one grew up with than accepting that one's loved ones are monsters and what that would mean to cut oneself off from their support and the benefits given from those relationships, than start a renewed- possibly awkward, non-intimate from years of separation and with less economic benefits- relationship with estranged family. One probably wouldn't want to be categorised as the one who's father/aunt/etc murdered their own mother in cold blood, either. I imagine that must be an awkward/embarassing/pitying title to have based on social norms and taboos.
@RealElongatedMuskrat

@@elisabethnordin I think you've made some really good points here. I'm reminded of an interview I saw on the 60 Minutes Australia KZbin channel: a young woman who's father was accused of her mother's murder (he even confessed, and then told the daughter that he didn't do it but was confessing anyway?). I can't remember the exact details but the murder was committed in the house within a small window of time, with no one else entering or leaving the house besides the daughter, who returned to find her mother missing and her father behaving strangely. This poor girl still believes her father, despite overwhelming evidence that he killed his wife over money and dumped her body, in addition to his confession, and I think its partially down to the fact that she's already lost her mother - accepting that her father did this would mean losing him too, in a way. Perhaps its just too painful? It boggled my mind but I think she was clearly in denial, she seemed to know how ludicrous his story was.

@@elisabethnordin I agree.I used to know a girl whose parents were alcoholics and she didnt want anything to do with them.She told me a lot of people would be shocked by her snubbing of them because "how can you never talk to your parents " but i just thought "fair enough" .
@grimtt
@grimtt 3 жыл бұрын
@@Gos1234567 I wonder if, in the case of a one-off murder, that would be easier to pretend it didn’t happen, because in many ways the accused’s whole behavior isn’t much changed, they go back to the veneer and seem normal, whereas alcoholism is a daily behavioral issue causing physical, mental and emotional strain for those relationships .

When I worked as a claims adjuster, I frequently had to contact police departments across the country. I always dreaded having to call anywhere in Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana, because most of the time the way the name was written was NOT how it was pronounced. I give you "Bexar County" in Texas, pronounced "Bear". Missouri has plenty of towns like that, too. Just a couple for your amusement: "Versailles" pronounced "Ver-sayles" and "Peru" pronounced "Pee-roo." Dear God.

@@jimcappa6815 I heard that too, it was very disturbing. To know that Danny is stuck in a basement and can't even get the respect he deserves..... It hurts me to the core. Callum seems to be freaking amazing as well, no offense mate.

Danny & Callum are great writers 💯👏🏻 Both include great humor (even with "dark" topics), sarcasm & also always being able to portray very vivid images/ picture/ visual of the story being told by Simon. Great use of imagery 💯💯💯

FYI, guys: Bexar is pronounced "Bear" in 'Merican English, or "Bay-har" in Spanish. This is from a native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio, TX in Bexar County. You're welcome. P.S. Natalia is another small town between LA Vernia and Devine. Each town has their own high schools.
