Well done review. The prw6600y is THE best Casio watch for every situation (outdoor-office) without being a gargantuan g-shock. Tough solar, atomic, WT, lume and light, all the standard functions, 5 alarms, plus ABC functions.

Great looking watch and a nicely done review as well! I've owned the PRW-61-1 version for over 18 months and I love the analogue and lcd screen layout. The mineral crystal is more impact and shatter resistant than sapphire and doesn't smudge as easily. I also put a screen protector over my watch face for added durability. I will be getting this PRG-601 in the near future. The numbers on the dial give it a field watch/ aviator watch vib, which I like. The ProTrek PRT-B70 quad sensor fishing timer has Bluetooth linkup with your phone via the Casio app. But it's not tough solar, it's only battery powered. I like the step counter function on my PRT-B70-1 and the sunrise/sunset info. My first Pro Trek was the PRG-270, all digital screen. The new analogue/ digital Pro Treks are some highly legible watches with an STN lcd display. I own three Rangemans and love 'em. Yet, I prefer the sleeker look and wearability of my Pro Treks most days. Thought I was the only ProTrek fan; I'm in good company.

I have been very happy with my prg-600y for six years now and counting. Beside a few light scratches on the glass, its been flawless! Would be very could with a saphhire version, as you say 👍

Personally, I prefer the PRW-6600YB-3ER that has the olive strap which gives it a military look.

I could see it being useful on off road Jeep excursions. The added info could be helpful both in bushwhacking and along established trails without going up a level to something like GPS waypoint navigation which I use on more challenging overland trips. I do like that it’s less G-Shockish in appearance because I’m only just starting to warm to G-Shock type design language after seeing your excellent NASA variant review. Thanks Sam for broadening my horological horizons…again.

i had apple watch Ultra for almost 2 years, they are beautiful VS other apple lineup watch models, honestly i never used all the capabilities what apple watch was capable to provide, i have a cellphone and its more then enough electronics for me, I'm going back to Casio Pro trek, my previous watches ware PAG-40, PAG-80, PAW-1500T what a beautiful watch, i even had PRT-40 in the old days from my father, at the moment daily wearing a PRW-2500-1A, thinking to upgrade to PRG-601YB-3 or PRG601PE-5. it reminds me kind of Swiss army watch :) , Casio did really good job on the last models.

Brilliant review, plus an instant sub from me. I've been a watch geek from the 80s too and the ProTrek range have been at the top of many of my watch lists. Agreed with you on the Sapphire glass would have been nice. For a watch that's designed to be outside that extra level of toughness would be appreciated. Especially when the bezel is so small leave little clearance to the glass I'd definitely be interested in collaborating with you on some content in the future. All my best buddy

I just acquired a PRW 6000Y-1a and a PRW 6900YL-5JF. It's getting pretty hard to figure out which one I want to wear the most. I have no interest in Apple watches.

I somehow feel that Casio doesn't show much attention to the Pro Trek series. They have a standard digital and analogue watch format and re-release the SAME features every year with a different design. I have been waiting for eons for them to include a moon phase to the PRG series with 20 bar water resistance. Or at the very least re-launch the GPR-B1000 in a smaller case (minus GPS to cut costs) under the Pro Trek moniker and price it reasonably. End of the day, Pro Trek appeals to those people who use it as a TOOL. I have extensively used the ABC function for navigation and I badly miss the moon phase and 20 Bar WR. Hopefully, soon enough someone in Casio heeds to our requirements.

Hi, I returned two Pro-trel watches in the 600 series. The back lights and compass on both watches worked only intermittently. Otherwise a great watch. Hesitant now to try another one. What's your experience so far?

Shame it doesn't have bluetooth, an apple watch is useless in an apocalypse when it runs out of power, this watch will keep going for decades as long as there's sunlight! Why are these only sold in America? 🙏🏻

I tried 2 different ProTreks. Digital and analog versions. They’re just too big and uncomfortable when working and wiring circuit boards. Besides even if I do go hiking, it’s never anything serious so there is no need for all these sensors.

I do not understand why casio need to put the times zones on the bezel. It's hideous. The lack of moon and sun set/rise and sapphire glass is also quite annoying. I love this model, except all those lacks. It's all that hinders me from getting one.

Solar models with triple sensors can't have Bluetooth my friend..non solar models do have B.T in them , andthe Japanese engineers have to be praised for managing to fit such micro sensors in a compact size .

I have the new rangeman mate that has Bluetooth, solar and the ABC sensor. Does require a battery charger if you’re using the HR sensors and everything however.

It's a shame the bezel is fixed could be used as a cool comparison between time zones if they were set in order and you'd know what the time was in different time zones

Whats the difference between this PRG601 and the PRW6600?

Essentially the multiband 6 atomic time keeping is present on the prw6600 but not on the prg 601. Also the lug width is 24mm for the prw 6600 and 23mm for the prg601. Case back is composite on the prg601 while the prw6600 has a traditional steel case back. These are the only 3 differences from what I can tell. Hope this helps.
