i think hawks hair is a representation of his personality throughout the show. Blue, when he was still shy on the inside, but also confidet due to just recently having "fliped the script" so having new looks Red, symbolising that now he started to loose touch with his former self, and becoming more tough + becoming the person he's always feared the most (a bully) and purple is a fusion of red and blue, because if you look closely in season 4 when he has purple hair, it's also the time he decides to change and reconnect with Johnny, Miguel, Moon and Demitri and becomes a mix of his season 1-self combined with his season 2 & 3-self.

As someone who grew up in the late 70s early 80s and clearly remembers The Karate Kid being one of the great movies back then I am blown away with the story line in Cobra Kai. Amazing job crossing the generational lines roping the old generation (me) and the younger one (my son) into this fantastic show. A great story line with not only a whole new cast but all the old cast as well (except for Pat Morita of course). Really impressed with this show.

Hawks hair symbolizes the Star Wars light sabers. Blue was a Jedi knight where he was still learning. Red was the red light saber which meant hatred and anger. I believe there might be meaning behind Hawk's hair color and shape. And the meanings also make loads of sense when looking and comparing notes from the show. During season 1 his hair was blue, it was the first time stepping into this "new-self", which was really adapting into who he is and who he aspires to be. Blue means freedom and inspiration - stepping into what he aspires to be, but also freeing himself from the box he was pushed into defined by his lips. In a very weird and mean sensei Johnny way, he pushed him into stop and let his deformity define him and start defining himself and who he really wants to be, and to who he can truly be. But blue also means trust and faith. And doing such a drastic change that's really out there and attracting even more attention than before shows that Eli has put his faith and trust in Johnny's method after seeing what a change it caused in Miguel - a 'loser' kid who was bullied just like him, but instead of keeping on a low profile and looking down, he stood up to those bullies. In season 3, after Miguel's injury and feeling betrayed by Johnny, Hawk's hair is red. The color red is mostly associated with rage, anger, war, power, fire and passion. Red is a very strong and dominant color. And the shape changes as well - from one unit, it becomes spikey. Hawk is angry. And being fed by the new Cobra Kai nothing but anger, power, rage and vengence due to him fallen best friend, and in some way, idol. He's led to believe it's Miyagi-do's fault, and he's becoming blinded by hate, by anger and becomes power drunk. And then there's purple. Purple is basically a balance between red and blue, which means Eli is finally looking into himself and starting to sober up and realize who he is. Purple encourages self-knowledge, spirituality and deepening our understanding of who we truly are inside. It symbolizes growth and enlightment. Hawk finally sobers up and realizes what he had become. He turns against Cobra Kai and goes back to his trie friends - Demitry and Miguel. He's found his path once again, and even when the others can't seem to forgive him, he takes it because he accepted his wrong-doings, he owns them and through that trying to be a better person than ever before. That's also why Miyagi-do is a much better fit to Hawk/Eli of season 4.
