Mr. Nugent, in 2014 my sister and I came to Ireland on vacation and to see at least some of the country our family comes from. I had been away from the church for about 35 years. We went to the Black Abbey in Kilkenny and saw the Trinity statue there. It touched my heart so deeply it began my return to the church. I will forever be thankful for that trip and the grace I received there. May God bless His holy church and Ireland.

I pray for the Irish Catholic Church. As a Catholic Irish-American New Yorker, I'm embarrassed that one of "our" priests is trying to export his personal ideologies to the birthplace of my mother and my grandparents. Our Church is in turmoil, but please know that he doesn't represent the views of Catholics, at least none that I know of (laity and clergy) here. He's an academic and media personality who seems to revel in the attention of, and celebration by, many press and television figures who don't have the best interests of The Church, the faithful, or humanity as their priorities. Stay strong!

If Catholic Irish Bishops think that by going along with borgoglia will increase footfall in Irish Churches I fear they will be sadly mistaken. Here in England Justin Welby and his recent predecessors have tried this with the Church of England and last year he ended up being demoted by his international brethren. Also here in England many C of E vicars are becoming Catholic Priests. If our Great Faith is to survive this turmoil then we should all try our hardest to keep our Church what it always has been - The One True Faith no more no less. God Bless Ireland

The Irish Bishops did 100 per cent restrict the Latin Mass. About same sex attracted people, we all know someone, so a lad I know brightens the day when I cross his path and have a chat. But all come to church and just be a member of the congregation like the rest of us if that’s where they desire to be. Where ever you are come Jesus is there and most of us are there to adore Him not judging others. The Catholic Church has the same teaching for all of us. You are right everyone has problems. I remmber reading that one of the things St. Patrick had to fight was widespread rampant homosexuality in Ireland; which he was quite successful at quelling. Now that Christian morals in general are on the decline everywhere; it is no wonder that former sins are making a comeback. Reminds me of the gospel story where if a demon is expelled but comes back later to find the place all cleanned up but unguarded that he will return with 7 more demons and the situation will be worse than before. Not hard to see that happening with nations and their former sins as they shed Christianity. For Ireland, first homosexuality, now its same-sex with trans, furry's, grooming kids, etc. etc.

The latest utterings of the Holy Father are just so confusing and ambiguous that they are causing more suffering to those of us who are not heterosexual. I live a celibate life and am perfectly content with life in the Church. I don't subscribe to any LGBTQIA+ ideology, especially the Trans ideology and I definitely will not push it down anyone's throat. I think that Fr James has gone too far. All that the Holy Father can really do is say what the scriptures and tradition say on this issue, and then as the Pastor, urge all members of the Body of Christ to treat each other with respect and love, especially those who are on the fringes of the Church. Don't push them away, invite them in, but don't bend the truth to make us feel welcome. We deserve at least that.

Of course i know priests and many lay people that are gay. No-one is disrespectful infant most people go over the top pandering to them. Sadly love of the flesh frequently is of more value than love of god Jesus christ causing separation from christ. We're all sinners .our sexual preference is bigger than the gospel in Rome at the moment most people are lonely are isolated many don't have enough to live on family's devision. I try to treat others as i would want to be treated. JESUS CHRIST IS MY PHYSICIAN IRELAND BIG BUSINESS PSYCHOLOGIST PSYCHOANALYSTS. Guru's. Go to confession an get on with healing from the effects of sin. So what of our sins, we all have them the more we shine light on them the sooner we heal. No more hiding in darkness where Satan wants us. No more feelings of guilt just admit our sins if needs be & move on with God's grace. Family tree healing masses I feel should be attended more often to break the sins & diseases coming down through our families, I dont know if anyone else notices it but i can see it in my own family how this pattern of same sins coming out in my generation the generation before me and onto our children too & I'm sick of it, im sick of Satan having it his way all the time! I ask the question in all sincerity; how can we Irish catholic laity not feel deeply hurt and offended that our bishops, whose primary duty is to clarify, defend, and promote Catholic Teaching, have invited the herecy promoting Fr Martin to address them at their conference in Knock. It is also disturbing that the bishops sought to keep the matter quiet. Which also begs the question, will Fr Martin convert our bishops to the ways of the world and can we expect our bishops to then preach Martins heresy to we, the struggling catholic flock? This comment is offered as an act of charity - I bear no ill-will against any group or individual. Blessings.

I've already commented on this video, commending you for demonstrating true charity towards everyone. But there are a couple of things that puzzle me about all of this, namely: Why did the bishops invite Fr Martin in the first place? I know there are many priests involved in organisations like Courage, who show enormous respect and compassion for SSA attracted people. Is their work not regarded as sufficiently compassion for evangelising people whose temptations lie in this direction? Surely an invitation to the rather notorious Fr Martin spells out a very clear message about the direction in which the Church appears to be going? Could they not have counterbalanced his input with that of the priests engaged in the more orthodox organisations? Secondly, if, as you say, there was a response to Fr Martin's manipulation of the media- and I've no reason to doubt your sources, why was it not articulated in some way by the Vatican? Those of us who are on the more conservative wing of the Church are forever being slighted by this regime, and some of it may be deserved. But a bit of even handedness might do a lot to preserve unity.

The Lord never ostracised the tax collectors or the adulterous woman but He didn't okay the things that caused them to be ostracised in the first place. And the most central issue that the modernist all conveniently overlook is this: The tax collector or the adulterous woman DID NOT ever CLAIM TO BE JESUS'S DISCIPLES. The invitation was there but they did not/have not stepped through the door/accepted. Matthew the apostle was a tax collector but HE STOPPED. Salvation was offered but repentance and the challenges of discipleship remained - as it does for anyone who seeks to follow Christ. Different standards apply once you enter the door of discipleship. Never was there any doubt that Jesus was okaying or "mainstreaming" the adultery as they are attempting nowadays. He spoke softly but He called it out. No confusion there. He is the guide.

Everyone always focuses on adults about this problem. Once this focus is fixed, the conversation becomes public. What about "The Little Ones"? Shouldn't there be a modicum of regard for the eyes and ears of "The Little Ones"? Sure, absolutely, there are people with problems that need help. Some issues, obviously, need to be handled discreetly. WHY one may ask: for the sake of "The Little Ones". About Fr. Martin: Is there anyone on the planet knowing about Fr. Martin truly believe that he will not use any public event as an opportunity to advance his agenda and thereby mislead "The Little Ones"? ANYONE?" In face of Our Lord's warning about misleading "The Little Ones", is it worth the risk to host such a deviant knowing, knowing, that he will mislead "The Little Ones"?

What a perfect comment. Am with you 100% . It's the Children their after. Martin is only leading them one way. He is not a Fool He knows what he is doing . Bergoglio also knows with all of the Homosexuals he's surrounded with.

Thank you so much for raising this concern. I have gay friends who also do not subscribe to the circus aspects of the LGBT etc bandwagon. I agree wholeheartedly to do this respectfully and openly. I have no idea the context but I do know it is not about showmanship. I am very glad to hear about what is happening in Ireland.

This meeting is neither here nor there. The problem with the Irish Bishops/Clergy is the preceding 60yrs where they have abandoned the teachings of Jesus Christ and have lead the RCC over the abyss. The vast, vast majority couldnt care less what the Bishops think or say,the Bishops have propelled themselves into an irrelevance having lost all credibility. I admire the work you do Robert but do not share your confidence, except in the laity.

Didnt Fulton Sheen say the laity will revive the church?

It seems to me that failing to criticize the bishops for inviting James Martin is to cause harm to homosexuals. James Martin does not advocate saving their souls and helping them avoid sin. He advocates pretending their sin is not a sin. And that does not help anyone. As you say, we must be gentle and understanding to those people with this problem, and we must offer help and wisdom and show them there is an alternative to that lifestyle. Martin is harming them - and the church. So, under Canon 212, it is the right and duty of every Catholic to criticize the Irish bishops, to criticize Martin, and see the church does adopt a caring and effective means of inviting these people into the church. Martin's way is evil.

There's biblical respect for our fellow man, and then there's respect that is born from liberalism designed to impart legitimacy. I have biblical respect for James Martin, but he falls far short in all other atributes. I'm sad that he came to Ireland by invitation!

Well said.Robert. Love and self-knowledge. Quote for us: "Let nothing disturb you Let nothing frighten you All things are passing away GOD never changes Patience obtains all things Whoever has God lacks nothing GOD alone suffices" Teresa of Avila Quote for the Irish bishops: "Stupidity is also a gift of God But one mustn't misuse it." JOHN PAUL 2 All will be well..God has it all in hand. There are great things happening among the laity and good priests and the faith will bloom again. We're being cleansed and sanctified. Add a prayer of protection every day to the armoury. :⁹
