But i cant, and then here you guys are and show up in my feed, and rightfully so, jesus sent you to me through this app. Pray for me, Antonella C. Thank you for this talk show guys!

Don't be so harsh on yourself. I was born Catholic. I strayed when I was a teenager, never even got Confirmed. I remained lapsed until 2015 when I joined RCIA at the age of 32. I finally was Confirmed on Pentecost 2016. Pray, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Going to Confession will help immensely. ❤

We are in our 60s. Neither of us had ever heard of the Didache. Why we were never taught about this while in CATHOLIC school I wil never understand!

I am a Lifelong Catholic and I learned about the Didache while I was in RCIA, when I came back into the Church after being lapsed for years. There are many cradle Catholics that are poorly catechized. I am not implying that any of you here are poorly catechized, but I know I was, and every lapsed member of my family is. Even my Grandmother and all her friends who went to Catholic school and still practice the faith, none of them would be able to tell you what the Didache is, none of them can even defend their faith or accurately explain it. Education is essential. Also, taking an interest in learning is essential. Most parishes offer RCIA, and it is open to anyone. ❤

I’m a convert, and have recently read it. What I’ve found in a men’s group that I belong to is that we converts, because we’re coming in due to our own conversion of heart, have generally had more exposure to things like the Didache or the writings of the Fathers than many of the cradle Catholics, because they played a part in our conversion. Long story short, ask some converts in your parish for some reading recommendations!

@anitavaughn1968 Anita, Faith comes through reason. Jesus sent us everywhere to help people know the truth, as shown in: Matthew 28:19-20 19. Therefore, go forth and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20. Teaching them to observe all that I have ever commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, even to the consummation of the age." Therefore, my friend, don't give up. Get some apologetic material and study it. Then you'll feel more knowledgeable because the Holy Spirit will be helping along the way. The Church needs you and your commitment. May God bless your discernment.

if you paid attention to the text of the didache, and the implied context, you will understand that the didache was drawing from the beatitudes, the lord's prayer, the olivet discourse, daniel, isaiah, and the plain text of matthew and mark. their mention of the apostles means that the majority of them are still alive. there is no explicit mention of persecution so therefore the neronian persecutions of 64 haven't occurred yet. the mention of meat from offerings and absence of circumcision, means that the council of jerusalem in 50 have already occurred. no mention of priests but rather, the notion of prophets implies the duties of catholic priests today, means that the levitical priesthood is still existing because to call someone a priest can only mean a levite or cohen of the temple of jerusalem. the lack of pauline theology means that the origin of the didache is outside of the greeks. the terms witchcraft, and pederasty meaning relations between an adult and a prepubescent boy and bondservants meaning slaves means that this is still well within the second temple period. pederasty was a near universal practice in the roman empire, as well as witchcraft, and slavery. take note also that at 13 years old, a jewish male was considered a man, while the rite of passage for a roman was at 14 by wearing the toga virilis. the code of ethics enshrined by the didache for bondservants for christians is unlike that of the practice of the romans because they are treated almost as equals or christians are to treat them with brotherly love, while still operating under the civil practice of the empire. it is wrong to repeat the notion that the gospels were somehow written or completed after 70 AD. this is a malicious invention of the protestant and jewish intellectuals because they could never accept the fact that jesus foretold the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. if you truly believe that jesus is God and Messiah, as written in the old testament, it is evident that all the books of the entire new testament was finished before the end of 67 AD because all of the books, epistles, and letters of the NT give you an indication that christians were unmolested by the romans. this means that the great fire of rome in july of 64 AD, had not yet occurred. whereas, the book of revelations clearly lament an apocalyptic suffering of the christians and saints, and the gemmatria of nero is clearly indicated in surviving manuscripts, 666 and 616. john could still have measured the temple because it still stood and at the same time, revelations indicate by strong allusions that all the apostles aside from john have already perished together with a lot of martyrs. nero died in june of 68 and it takes 1 to 2 months for letters to disseminate fully.

The Didache has within it the Lord's Prayer, and it includes the doxology of that prayer (missing only the word "kingdom"). This doxology cannot possibly have been some later addition, and certainly not a later Protestant addition. The doxology is used in the liturgy not with the rest of the prayer immediately after the seven petitions, but slightly later on. It was probably because of this usage in the liturgy that caused the doxology to be omitted from so many Latin MSS of St. Matthew 6.

Wow. So I can feel the energy in the room and this is obviously not the same show. I think it will take some time but it is so exciting to watch. I’m interested to see what happens when you trade another priest. Of all the challenges and difficulties, I don’t think anyone is as tempted as the priest. I still think it would be a good idea to have a semester of priesthood. So that we would have a society of priest, and some will be greater than others. And I think it will create the best foundation to do everything else that is good in this life. To have a proper understanding or perspective of what is good and bad, right and wrong and hear the best example of perfection. From the least to the greatest, each one greater than the next.

A marvelous thing slapped me right in the back of the head as I listened to this around the fourth time. It is the words of Jesus Christ, “The gates of hell will not prevail against it”, in reference to His Church that He would build. It does look like when we needed to know the details of our beginning in order to know where we are, when we became ready, He kept His promise! We know now that the beginning was the beginning and we are at this end of where it began! That’s pretty cool and very inspiring. He told us how blessed are those who have not seen yet believed… …I have to admit there was an era of life in which I wondered if doubt was the wiser part of prudence? Well, we can stop that now! Just like in the beginning, He said it, He meant it, and we can believe it!

This in, chapter 11, the Christian community even when I was young, people were allowed to come and stay but after even the 1st meal they would offer to help with their hands to assist in daily chores, if if you washed their clothes, they would wear some of yours till theirs was finished. And they would help with anything or take it upon themselves to pick vegetables or milk the cow, something of themselves in honor of the good deed you showed to them. It was up to my father to speak to them and negotiate anything further. Even visiting cousins never stayed more than a week at a time.

it’s called the didache or teachings of the 12 apostles. it’s one of the oldest Christian documents other than the bible. It was considered for the canon but at the time they couldn’t officially authenticate it but with later technology it was authenticated and it’s dated to have been written around the same time as the book of revelation.

The Didache and Paul's writings paint a very clear picture. A lot of people were preaching. Paul warned of false preachers who preached for personal benefit. The Didache reports the same. Self proclaimed apostles were roaming the land preaching xyz for self benefit. Whats the sign of a true apostle? According to Paul "Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not the result of my work in the Lord? 2 Even though I may not be an apostle to others, surely I am to you! For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord." You are an apostle to your own converts, and as converts under Paul as he describes in 1 Cor 9 "11 If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you? 12 If others have this right of support from you, shouldn’t we have it all the more?" Apostles are nothing but hustlers of money from their converts. Paul is jail in philipians not because he preaches his gospel. He is in jail because he is extorting cash from the wrong families.

So much apologetics coming out since the early 80s and the use of media. It takes time but I wonder how this is uniting the Church? All the mis-information that has been spread about the Catholic Church since the Reformation is being debunked and easily discredited. And some of the best apologetics is being done by converts. I pray every day for the unity that Jesus prayed for the night before His Passion.

In the chapter about Apostles and prophets, doesn't the Bible state that apostles are those men who witnessed the resurrection? If that is so, then the Didache must be during the very first years of the church.k8

Well duh, the discovered manuscripts are not the original 1st century copy. Nearly every book older than 1500 years survives in a copied manuscript. The earliest manuscripts of Aristotle we have were written 1000 years after his death, surviving only because of the Catholic monks who copied them down. Why waste time talking about script type when the content is what matters?

@@mosesking2923 if you don't have a first century copy, isn't it kinda dumb to assume there must be one? I could say Lord of the Rings is actually from the 1700s, we just lost that original version. This is a baseless assertion. There is a lot of biased interest in presenting Christian writings as older than the evidence actually suggests, because for some reason that makes it sounds more believable to christians. As if supernatural claims are more reliable the further back in history they were made? Be cautious and skeptical about these things. Its much better for you.
