@davidbewlay24717 жыл бұрын
Well, 'research' (a quick look at Wikipedia) suggests he believes in the possibility of God, at least; and maybe in a God but one that is not a 'personal' God (or, as per the song, an 'interventionist' God). His statements on the subject are nuanced. Possibly his views have simply evolved or changed over time. Possibly he himself is not always clear on the subject. But he does not appear to be an atheist, i.e. someone who actually denies the existence of God.
@andrewdavie3867 жыл бұрын
Atheists do not deny the existence of gods, but instead simply have no belief. Atheism is usually defined incorrectly as a belief system. Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods. There is a subtle, but important, difference. Try to understand.

My partner died three years ago, this was "ourr song', not that one of us believed in a God or something, but because we we loved the idea " leave you as you are" .... we did that.... He leaved me as I was en I did the same with him. Never loved someone so deeply as I loved him.... But he died, accindent, car.... Still deeply missed. By me, by his daughter, by his siters and by his father and by so many more. I ordered a poster with this lyrics.... Still searching for a beautiful place. Because this song is still our song, because I saw that poster and it had to be mine, for us, for me and him. Listening tho this can make me smile, because al the beautiful things he gave me, he was the big fan of Nick Cave and actualy I became it because of him. When I saw "one more time with feeling", I cried. It was beautiful. My respect for Nick Cave grew even more. But this song can bring me also to tears because I still miss him a lot. Most of the time I smile en cry at the same time.

Stanislav, I dont think he's overrrated, I just think that he appeals to something in a certain type of person. People who like him feel something quite special when listening to him. Music is about communication and he has an honesty that is rare. And I really appreciate that. He's trying his best to be who he is, and thats what we all should be looking to do. We are flawed and Nick Cave is too. Bieber is trying to say that we should strive to not be flawed. Yet he so clearly is.

I don't believe in an interventionist God But I know, darling, that you do But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him Not to intervene when it came to you Not to touch a hair on your head To leave you as you are And if He felt He had to direct you Then direct you into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms And I don't believe in the existence of angels But looking at you I wonder if that's true But if I did I would summon them together And ask them to watch over you To each burn a candle for you To make bright and clear your path And to walk,like Christ, in grace and love And guide you into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms But I believe in Love And I know that you do too And I believe in some kind of path That we can walk down, me and you So keep your candles burning And make her journey bright and pure That she will keep returning Always and evermore Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms Into my arms, O Lord, into my arms.

My time in this realm is coming to an end. I've been blessed with love, respect, kindness and so much more from My Love, Mr. Chris Williams. I have no way to repay him for these gifts, other than words of gratitude and the love I carry with me. There's much I fear about this journey into the unknown. If I could ask for one thing after I depart, it would be for him to remember the old Dr. Seuss saying; "Don't cry cuz it's over, smile because it happened." He knows I believe something as precious as love, to be eternal. I pray that one day, we'll find each other again and he'll return into my arms. I shall be waiting ♡

Never heard of this beautiful singer/songwriter but this song has deeply moved me to tears for personal reasons.The loss of a child is the most painful experience in this world and we are indeed blessed by these words in this song.I do not think anyone is an athiest in this world except bad people who do bad things to people and animal.I feel goodness in someone is god and I have heard goodness in this song.

you hear or see in it whatever you want to hear or see in it, to me that's the beauty of his songs, for me it's definitely about love but I understand how someone might look at it in a different light and find it to be about death. Whatever meaning it has it's one of the most beautfil songs to me...

Thanks for posting this from the melancholy man:" "The Vicar bangin' on about this and that". That line is deeply culturally imbued, perhaps reflective of our Aussie commodity in being plain speaking, authority-critical, non-religious (not anti) and pragmatic. All present in that off-the-cuff remark; a special live moment to be cherished and a beautiful lyrical lament on the attraction of opposites and the transcendence of love.

Amazing song & his voice is like none other. You can hear the pull on his heart from Christ to come to know him. I hope he does. He knows there's more.
