With all these classic episodes being found if they make more game show bloopers clips the "lovely parting gift" line should be in one. God that was funny! Thanks for the upload.

NBC should've never used the '83 woo sound effect on this show; and they shouldve had an audience more visible (like the late 80s), plus the Scrabble logo flashing during the intro, commercial, & ending to make it more appearing.

I remember this episode well. In fact I remember seeing all the episodes with Jon Delphin and John Bernardo back in 1993.

I believe that Jon is Jon Delfin, a 7-time winner of the American Crossword Puzzle Championship.

Wide shots of the set like in this episode makes me really wish the cube hadn't broken between the 1990 pilot and the 1993 reboot - it's not the same if the cube is stuck on the Crosswords side.

These players REALLY didn't like money - no one was going for it when they knew the word, and the risk of pulling double stopper was so low.

In this version of the show, they didn't get the money - it was only added to the Bonus Sprint jackpot. No reason to take any chances.

I wonder why they were using the bonus round buzz in sound instead of the regular game buzz in sound.. kinda jarring

In Binghamton, my then NBC station WICZ Ch 40 Binghamton aired this opposite The Price is Right. In Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, WBRE Ch 28 aired one hour earlier. I watched this at a friend's house in Deposit, New York who had Ch 28 an antenna descrambler and I watched the original later in the afternoon on USA Network. After seeing 2 different versions in one day, I prefer the 80s version.

What does Pittsburgh have to do with burglars? I guess the clue was saying people who steal in the city of Pittsburgh vs. the NFL team that has won the most Super Bowls so far.

Pittsburgh is known as the STEEL city. That's the industry that got the city on the map as an important town. Steelers are named after that industry. A play on words. 😅
