The history of the Pashtuns is ancient and much of it has yet to be recorded in contemporary times. From the 2nd millennium BCE to the present, Pashtun regions have seen immense migrations including Aryan tribes, such as Persians, Sakas, or Scythians, as well as Kushans, Hephthalites, Greeks, Arabs, Turks, and Mongols..

Major saab you should be awarded a padma bhushan for organising this event. Devasher saab is asusual a sea of intellect and knowledge when it comes to Pakistan and Afghanistan and its politics. Sareen sometimes confuses me, I wonder if he is actually batting for India or Pakistan. He is keen on exposing their blunders and seeking solutions to fix it, why? Maybe it's the Punjabi in him? Not trying to be offensive. Anyhow, this is why we love AIM. He works the opposite way.

Pak is going to face huge water shortage and population explosion problems in the coming years. It will be better off letting Sindh and Balochistan become independent countries. A portion of the Pashthun areas (in the north west) should go to Afghanisthan and PoK should merge with Kashmir and go to India which will do a much better job of governing it. What will be left is Pakistani Punjab which is an area probably the size of Japan, and will be easier for Pak to manage given their utter failure to manage their country over 75 years. It will also ensure stability and possible prosperity within the new Pak as well as peace in the region.

When you are discussing pashtun fault line it must be with some objective from India's point of view or else Pashtun as fault line should not have any relevance for us.Seen in correct perspective....untill Afghan jihad in Zia's era durand line and pashtun brotherhood for both ...pak and afghagastan ..was non issue..It is after Russian withdrawal that the fault line crack became apparently discernable manly because Pak intended for hegemony like making afghan as 5th state of pakistan. It is here discussion should have focussed as to how far this fault line has further windened or recouped.Further.. as to what challenges for India are presented by this fault line particulary in view of foot prints of china in pak...should have been in the ficus of discussion..All said and done...a poor discussion and presentation of topic.Whether this fault line is bane or boon for India could have been eloborated and the deliberation should have coverd strategy and tactice to work out this fault line of Pakistan to the advantage of India !!!

Yes indeed, it was a wayward discussion more flaunting Punjabism. Roots of Pakistani crisis is its structural abnormality. Pakistan is an abnormal entity with its 62pc Punjabi population having only 24pc Punjabi land. Punjabi establishment knows that Punjab can not survive without massive consumption of resources of other provinces. Kashmir, India-hatred & Islam were invented as important weapons by wily Punjabi army & Punjabi bureaucracy to fool and enchain other provinces & to devour their resources (From PLAYING WITH FIRE BY PAMELA CONSTABLE , Random House, NY 2011). Overtures of peace with India are periodically done to tide over some internal crisis or to achieve some strategic aims & enmity is back in place as necessity for Punjabi dominance.. According to Stephen Cohen (2003), Pakistan military directly or indirectly devours 54.7% of Pakistani national resources, runs vast commercial empire from bakery to banks & gives prime land as retirement benefit to military officers many of whom are inducted post-retirement into plum civilian posts, 20pc of which are usurped by the military. Pakistani economy & demands of its Frankensteinian monstrous military have become mutually incompatible. The monster can be tamed only when 3 non-Punjab provinces unite to free themselves from the clutches of Punjab & release their people like Bangladesh from huge military budget & prevent devouring of their resources which is crippling their lives. A controlled collapse of Pakistan like the USSR is in the best interests of world peace.

Afghanistan quite correctly voted against the creation of Pakistan. It is incorrect to say the Durand Line only became an issue after USSR withdrawal.

@shabnumshaheen6253 Afghan is not the name of the cast. It is identity and tribe.75 years ago, there was no Pakistan pathan. British has provided a new name as Pakistan , but it does not mean it changed everything with that.

I resent corrupt Pakistani military generals and may not be #1 but they surely among the top when you realize that they defeated mighty super power of USSR, though with help of USA money but it’s Pakistani military fighting on the grounds with Afghans and then india which is multiple times bigger power than us, but we still were able to drive them nuts and were able to defend our lands from them. Pakistan has never lost a war in west Pakistan. East Pakistan was a different ball game due to logistics. Rest of all the wars are equally claimed by Pakistan and india to be won equally

@@bachakhan9817 Your inherited “decency” is quiet evident in the tone and language of your comment. I wouldn’t fall to your level, because thankfully I don’t share your ancestries. No country or army is without faults or baggages. Pakistan has its own. Minorities suffocating and corruption lead by military generals is disgusting and we realize that. India isn’t much better either with their politicians replacing the role of our military for their public. Equivalent of our Jihadis are their RSS hindutva. For us, Times are changing. Pakistan is changing. This is the first time in history when military corruption has been exposed to public. We woke up from a bad dream. Big changes are coming but Only time will tell.
