Well heck, as a lover of Panerai, I'm a lover of this.

once again you have given us a very interesting review. Going by your other watches I was expecting this to be in the £1000's. I was quite surprised that the cost was only in three figures. A classic looking timepiece with, in my opinion, a beautiful strap. I would be happy owning one of these. keep up the good work.

Good day Ash! Thank you for this in depth review of the Depthmaster. There's definitly some Panerei-references in the design of the Depthmaster. For smaller wrists, like mine, more wearable, I say. My problem with Panerei is, that on my 16cm wrist most of their watches are just too big. Love to see the Depthmaster on a silicone or rubber strap or the Beads of Rice-bracelet. Have a good day!

Ash - what an interesting choice I was just looking at this yesterday (but no date)! So many interesting watches out there, with great history, VFM etc that are not R's I think the Jelly fish options have already sold out

Great review of an interesting timepiece. Never heard of Nivada Grenchen or its Depthmaster model before, so thanks for sharing with us. I'm quite taken with it because of, as you say, it has a heritage look to it and yet looks contemporary in the modern era. Simple, rugged and does its job very well - just what I look for in a wristwatch. And also thanks for introducing me to a new word - "inviable". I thought you'd fluffed your line here as I always use "unviable" - but it turns out that "inviable" has the same meaning, although the internet says that "unviable" overtook "inviable" in about the 60s, noticeable earlier in American English than in British English, but roughly the same time. So I think it's only correct that a Chap should use the "inviable" variation, and I will attempt to do so in future - whenever viable.

It’s all in the syntax.

@@TheChapsGuide Perhaps some subject matter for future content? After all, and well-rounded Chap should not only dress and groom as such, but sound and act as a Chap too?

Compared to the chunky behemoths that brands like Omega and Rolex offer in the 1000m Diver range, this is almost bizarrely wearable. How did they do it? Doesn't anything over 500m at least require a sapphire crystal the thickness of an average bathroom tile? And even though I'm not too fond of the stylized 6 and 9, the overall appearance is more appealing to me than 95% of Panerai's catalogue. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Hi Ash, have you seen Nivada Grenchen’s Super Antarctica? I’m curious how it compares to your Rolex Explorer. Seems like it could be an alternative explorer style watch for the financially constrained sartorial gentleman.

Yes sir, I wear my NG Depthmaster pretty much every day now, it has effectively replaced my Rolex watches in daily wear. A great brand indeed.

Hi Ash, I really like the watch. You can really see the Panerai connection without being very obvious. I think that's a cool link by way of the designer, kind of like with Gerald Genta watches. I also have a quation, if you review a watch which comes directly from the manufacturer, wouldn't it be fair to disclaim that we should presume that this has been through thurrough quality control? And therefore this is the example you could have recieved? Maybe if your going to do more of these reviews (which I really hope), you can disclaim this?
@TheChapsGuide2 жыл бұрын
Indeed. This watch was effectively sent to me as a normal customer (however the invoice showed £0 (zero) cost, hence the service I received was akin to any normal customer experience and the item is the same. The only difference is that the piece was returned post review - I suspect this is a common process for watch reviews. There are more reviews to follow, I have already taken delivery of other brands, that are undergoing field trials as we speak. Ash
