Lolli is a true artistic wonder, the genuine article. I've watched her openly weep when reacting to certain favorite pieces (Voiceplay's 'Nothing Else Matters', Johnny Cash's 'Hurt', among others), and was moved by the unironic way she opens her heart. As she does in this lovely performance. Lolli is a gift. And given the day you have chosen to do this reaction, dear Elizabeth, she (and you!) are so far my favorite Christmas gift! ❤

One of the things I like most about Lolli is how open and vulnerable she is during her videos. She's so completely herself and doesn't hold back or pretend. She's so not fake or acting. She was absolutely not the kid who could sit and listen to a history lecture for 45 minutes and write a perfectly arranged page of notes. There was doodles, random thoughts, and pencil tapping along with the songs in her head. She probably also wore out several CDs or tapes trying to learn every detail of vocal delivery, harmony and lyrical composition.

Lolli is the whole amazing package. Love her to death (Daphne too)!

Lolly's album is one of my favourites released this year - and that's a year where both Ruth Theodore and The Cure released new records. Astonishing record. Her voice is absolutely unearthly: there are echoes of Jeff Buckley, Kate Bush, Sinead O'Connor, and I swear I heard a flash of Bjork more than once. The last three tracks, of which this is the first, feel like a kind of trilogy to cap off the record, so I think you're right that this song feels unresolved at the end when taken in isolation, but the record provides a different context for that, meaning that All Mine can occupy different states of narrative tension depending on whether you're listening to the album or listening to the single. And I've just read that back and I think I need to get out more. 😆
