Notice that he was hinting around TWICE in one day about Whisky? It seems like he would be thrilled to have Steph let him have some on the job, perhaps slipping a full bottle into one of the holes they've dug, which would help him keep warm. It would probably be fine when dealing with the concrete, just not any intricate work. But, alas, it would probably not be looked upon as proper. But hinting at it twice in the same day, seems like a reason for that. Long , long ago I dated a Frenchman, they sure are passionate. He seems very animated and fun to watch, a hottie for sure. There are a couple fun ones that both show up on 2 different channels, How To Renovate A Chateau and Beau Chateau.

Archaeologist here who is geeking out over the trench around the chapel! The Nadiac family would certainly have known how close to the surface the bedrock was in the area selected for the chapel. The soil would have been dug away, and the bedrock chiseled to a perfectly level surface by hand. That is excellent news for the chapel going forward. The foundation is solid, damage was and could only again be caused by the elements and time. (Or an earthquake).

I have to agree with other comments, Sebastian est si gentil. I love his pleasant demeanor. Rock on, Amaury! LOL! Philip, remember Stephanie's old opening, it's "not a stuffy museum." France has plenty historical museum homes. Lalande is where real people live. Warm, dry and comfortable should be top on the list. Besides, from which period does your design inspiration come, medieval, 18th century? I recommend checking out Vivienne's latest episode of Château Love. Her and her pals are in Paris for the biggest interior design event of the year. She got invited to a party at a fabulous designer's apartment, and I do mean fabulous. The masculine bedroom next to the bathroom is awesome. He's mixed periods for a less rigid and fussy, for a more personal feel. It really is sublime. Hopefully Stephanie has seen the gorgeous accents on the bedding that she can recreate with her new sewing machine. I love little Lancelot. I hope he brings you as much joy as he does me. Getting him will go down as one of the best decisions of 2023.👍À demain! ❤ from TX!

At one time there would have been a path for the ladies in their long dresses to keep out of the dirt/mud on their way to and from the Chapel. A bit of exploratory excavation would be interesting to see what could be uncovered. They still have the french drain to put in so they may find more clues then.

You're correct it was paved with stones, traditionally French chateau gardens were very formal and structured with lots of paths in stone, gravel and symmetrically planned hedges and flower beds. Not at all like the poetic meandering English garden style. That's why the newly planted bit near the chapel is "the English Garden" with its twists and turns and assymetry. The top soil like you said is from later years decomposting leaves to soil, it's a quick process.

Such a really nice Vlog. Loved the going back and forth from one particular job to the other and seeing how they are moving along so well! Sabastian is seems to be so much, more comfortable with the camera than in the beginning. He is great about allowing all the questions to be answered, and making sure you see all that is needed to be done of importance, as it moves along. He is enjoying it even when busy. Amaury is the same way! It is best to know and to be interested in what is happening with this and I am excited myself to see how great this Chateau will be when finished. then they may work at a few windows! I am glad as to be honest it almost will seem like they belong as part of Lalande and yet we know at some point they must move on to do other jobs with their company. But it just somehow is getting to seem natural to have them there each day! They sure to stick to the work and put their all into it! Natti keeps so busy with her accounting etc and thought it was cute when little Sir Lancelot was saying goodbye to Mollie and Nattie and Amaury, she has become quite close now to them! She knows they are ''cousins!'' She can tell relatives! But she jumped on her little stool/Bed when she thought you wer saying she may want to go with them. LOL ( You would not like it one bit though, if she ever decided to do it! Stephanie and Philip would truly miss her, if spending a night with Mollie and family when she could be home with her own dad and mom! The meal Philip made looked so delicious, even if left over and you know sometimes that can be one of the nicest meals of all! Thank you for another great chance to be part of the family, and enjoy a little bit of the, life at Chateau de LaLande!

une salade frisée is called curly chicory. It's a very big chicory with plenty of leaves that you tie up when growing so the center leaves stay a whity yellow. Slightly bitter but great for the 'Frisée aux lardons', a famous salad with lardons, hard boiled eggs and garlic croûtons. And a vinaigrette of course! Paint is tricky light time of day makes a big difference when picking paint for 49 studebaker pickup we wanted white pearl on lower and cranberry metallic on the top ! The white pearl has so many different bases yellow pink kind of a grey so went to dealerships on clear blue sky and fresh white snow to make sure found white Diamond pearl from general motors and perfect no pink it has a bit of yellow but the cranberry balances it out costly mistake if did not like cost 13 thousand dollars to paint 20 years ago now probably 20 thousand dollars ! My husband always not sure colours and he would want to choose right aware but know I would put up samples in each room and wait a week look at the colours different times make him also look at the colours with me so both were happy ! Never had to repaint anything always told Joe to trust me he was always happy with the end result! Amaury is a blessing Such a talented craftsman!

Hello from Norway! So happy to see the chappel coming together, it will be really amazing 🥰 Haven't seen the peacocks in a while. Did something happen to them? If so, i must have missed it. They were such a beautiful part of Lalande for so long..

This was a lovely video. Sebastien is such a hard worker with his pal. He explains things really well too. Amaury looks a bit tired, but there are lots of bugs going around at the moment. He is doing a fab job in the bedroom upstairs. The garden is also looking great and the greenhouse is already in production. Roll on spring! 🙂

Stephanie, that big hole in the ground against the chapel IS a trench, in English. We probably got it from that very similar French word you used for it when you were out there.

Hello from PEI Canada. Hi Jack from Ottawa. We are very cold here especially by the water,a minus 17. The snow on the ground looks like a beach, for the winds have whipped up the red dirt and put it on top of the snow. Spring shows up in June. The weather in France seems to be less rough, maybe it would be a good place to move to.

I checked the comments... BUT did ANYONE see Amaury (timestamped @6:31) flip his screwdriver 🪛 and catching it (from the handle to the flat end) without loosing a beat chatting with Stephanie or looking down to make sure he didn't drop it. Now that's a man who knows how to handle his tools!! Well done!! Well done!! ~Joanna♡ Ohio USA 🇺🇸

At 13:11 minutes in and again at 14:05 minutes in. There is a hole that is to the right of the window very top at the base on the peace of exposed wood the slate is attached to.
Next Phase: starting the work on the Chapel walls! 💪
